  1. Apparently they like the P320 X5 slide profile. First the P226 X5 and now this.
  2. Jim was a well known presence in the Pacific NW shooting community. He recently passed after a long fight with cancer. Jim had many friends. He was one of those guys who would literally give you the shirt off of their backs. One of the truly good guys. I already miss him like crazy.
  3. Every press, doesn't matter the manufacturer, needs ongoing maintenance and adjustment. These are not "set it and forget it" type of machines. The press mechanism, any press, can be a little intimidating at first but after you've used it for a while you will be tearing it down and putting it back together and not breaking a sweat. No big deal.
  4. In my case that is so true. I've had a couple 1911s over the years but never spent any time really learning the system getting down into the nuts and bolts. Now that I've moved from a P320 CO to a 2011 LO I'm taking the time and it's been rewarding and just plain fun. I'm glad I made the switch.
  5. I'm not making any assumptions. I'm simply reporting the mathematical results of a ballistics program and noting that they imply that a 10 yard zero is not necessarily the end of the world. Note the words: "This is just an FYI, I'm not claiming it is an ideal solution." Anybody with half a brain and a couple matches of experience is going to confirm their hits at longer distances.
  6. That's what I do. I've never felt any need to make an adapter work. I also drilled a hole in the plastic tray directly over the drop point. If a primer gets stuck I can usually coax it on it's way with a wooden skewer. (can't take credit for that idea, stole it from somebody else, maybe on BEnos...)
  7. It doesn't matter what business we are talking about...The marketing department is the engineering department's worst enemy.
  8. I would guess that manufacturers make sweetheart deals with industry contacts, friends, pro shooters, all the time allowing them to jump the line.
  9. Thank you. I did not realize there was a revised version. I'd guess mine are the original version. At least 5 or 6 years old and likely more.
  10. Yeah if you absolutely need a powder check die, a bullet drop, a seater and a separate crimp die then the 1100 won't work. There are only three stations after the powder drop. You would need the Apex which has four. On an 1100 checking powder visually is a little more awkward than on a 650 but with 9mm it is doable. I don't load rifle on it so I can only guess that would be more challenging to visually confirm than 9mm.
  11. Good to know. I have to admit I was going off of what DAA says on their website. As far as Dominate Defense is concerned I initially considered a brute force method like that but I chickened out when It looked like I'd be abusing the belt more than I was comfortable with. It might work if I was as gung ho as you!
  12. The C-Bax are very dependent upon belt thickness. If the belt is too thin they can be sloppy although the set screw has firmed them up for me. If too thick they are not usable at all. For example there is no way they will slide onto a Dominate Defense belt. DAA belt.won't work either.
  13. The OP scenario has nothing to do with a discharge.
  14. Sorry, I meant "which safety" in the sense of "right side" or "left side". And now I see. Thanks.
  15. Which thumb safety, left or right, and where is it hitting your hand?
  16. There is a discussion about this on the IDPA FB group. Some people want to DQ for violating 2.6.x although this particular scenario is not addressed. Some want to PE for violating 2.12.2.1. Some don't think it's a problem. I don't think it's a problem but it's IDPA so I guess it is..
  17. Why would you remove the mainspring cap retaining pin?
  18. Or you could maintain your membership and your right to vote and hope that the shortly to be FIVE new ADs are more responsive to their members concerns than the old guard has been.
  19. I'm a little curious about how they are going to determine the 3" as "measured from the front of the holster". Furthermore what does "front of the holster" really mean? I asked a couple of shooters at a practice match yesterday and got a different answer from everybody.
  20. Ya got me there! I live in an exclusively 9mm world. I often forget there are other ways to live.
  21. Just a thought as I've not attempted to deal with 105 PF but I'd be inclined to use the softest brass I could find. It seems that FC and Blazer are the softest in my experience. Stay away from S&B and CBC.
  22. Which begs the question ... Who was responsible?
  23. No. The FCD does not size the complete case. It stops short of extractor groove. It is very possible to have a case with a bulge at the base that will not gauge even after running it through the FCD. If the FCD did such a complete job of sizing there would be no need for Roll Sizers or Case Pros.
