Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. You can try a little tuning trick to the mag. Front to back of the mag, just below the opening, try reducing this length slightly by squeezing in a vice. I had a couple that would hang up slightly and others that were smooth. With a little Machinist dye on the mag body I could see a slight rub on the very most front part, 1/2" below point where you can see the second round. Would have never thought that was it but, the dye brought it to my attention pretty quick.
  2. Shot one this weekend, 500 rds on Saturday and another 500 on Sunday. Extremely well built, very accurate, tight side to frame fit. Aluminum Cheely E2 grip so not real heavy, SRO on top. Needs more break in as once it was dirty the light recoil spring kept it out of battery from time to time doing drills. Load was just general minor load of 4.2gr N320 @ 1.13 with 125 SNS (no issues feeding at this length with MBX mags) so the comp wasn't really a factor. Once a round is built, it should be very fast, flat, and easy to shoot. Again, fit and finish is exceptional.
  3. The Evo Magwell also corrects for insertion errors so the mag doesn't stick, all aluminum.
  4. Working up a load started at 7.7g HS6 with old 124 Star FMJ at 1.16, gave me 1260fps. Primers looked good but CCI SPP seemed to have slight flow so going to load with Win SRP next. Only slide ride dot right now until my mount comes in and frame tapped. Going to 8.0 and chrono again this weekend but the gun was fast and flat. Have some EG V2 124 coming in but wanted to start working on load now. Season here has ended so lots of winter time to get set up. Now if I can stop looking at the dot and focus on the target, will take time to make this change.
  5. I want to start by saying I don't write much here (most time reloading or range) but, I have Multiple CK's, STI's, Atlas Nemesis 9mm and 40, and the Honcho 3 gun version (Wilson's and Nighthawk's). In 40 limited the Honcho is my main gun. The Evo Grip, perfect trigger, and the softest/smoothest recoil firing cycle of all by far. Put 40K through the CK and was 100% reliable with only 2 malfunctions and attributed to pushing mag springs past their life span, my bad both times. After complete breakdown/cleaning inspection no wear whatsoever. So I was concerned jumping in on some of the first Honcho's. Now only 18K 40 Major on the Honcho, I have changed over to 9 limited few times but, the wear is minimal and I have Zero concern about the longevity of this firearm. The fit/finish construction is as good as anything out there. 9mm minor is impossible to describe how soft this gun is, makes my Shadow 2 with Primary Machine slide seem jumpy, just that soft, hard to describe until you shoot it. Compared to the Atlas it is just smoother, and softer, and everyone that shoots the 2 side by side will tell you the same. I will be adding a fix mount and running this in open shortly so, I can't say how that is yet but will update. I too wish there were more options available for the mounting plate but things keep rolling out and the staff at PT is incredible. Tiffany responds to my emails within hours, if not minutes, and I can't say enough about their CS. BTW, I'm just a shooter and Not Sponsored in anyway nor was I asked to give this information. Just felt the gun is that good and deserves the stellar review, another purchase will be on the horizon.
  6. To your original question, yes you can be competitive in Limited with a G35. I have two CK Steel frames and a G35. I with the trigger set up right I can shoot more A's with the Glock on all my standard drills in the same times. It really comes down to the fit and recoil impulse you feel most comfortable with (for me the 2011's sight track up and down with more bounce and the Glock drives back and forth). I know quite a few M's and GM's that shoot Glock.
  7. Distance change up drills and watch the timer. Start on close targets and switch to far on the start. Put out three paper targets close 3-5 yards and 2 steel target 15-20 yards. Watch your timer and check if you start close what your tension is like and if more relaxed from far target first. Get accustom to driving the gun into the A zone without a clear sight picture. This drill you can do paper then two lollipops or paper, steel, paper steel, etc.
  8. Bought an Edge as a back up in April for my CK (and for Steel and 2X year IDPA) and the chamber is ridiculously tight. Running a U die, bulge buster, FCD, nothing works with this thing. Can run plated bullets crimped properly but, Bayou's run .401-.402 and they will not run at all. Any bullet over .400 is an issue with this barrel. Sending barrel out to open the chamber up, this chamber is stupid tight for its purpose.
  9. 200gr BBI, 4.1 Amer. Select, Win SPP, 1.16 CK Hardcore. My CK doesn't like short OAL but loves 200gr. With others, try different OAL.
  10. I did a glock 21, and it did make the gun much more slick and smoothed out the the edges on the grip. Also, gun solvent and repealants with Deet removed the coating.
  11. I shoot the EAA stock II, CZ TS, and the p320. As stated above it depends on your our personal pref. and strengths. All are great, all will get you to Master class and beyond. If newer to competition shooting, stick with the p320, very little to worry about; no light strikes, easy to maintain, good shooter, draw and shoot. I carry the p320 compact and sub. will hold 3.5" groups at 40 yds., throw fiber on it and go to town.
  12. Lots of good options out there. I shot the Reflex II for two years with no problem out to 500 yds, even with 4.5 MOA dot. At longer distances the hold over puts the dot high enough there is no issues, top of dot 100yds, middle 200, and bottom 300. Close up hold was just slightly higher than POI.The problem I had was shooting from a dark shoot house and targets outside at Mich. State 3Gun Champ. in the sun, the dot just disappeared. The primary arms is very good at its price point, and very durable, but the tube thickness(around circumference inside tube) and field of view is very small, making transitions slower. The MRO is sweet and would be my next if I change again. I personally like the eotech reticle and the ability to see through it, semitransparent. Helpful at distance and can stay more target focused easier. Went to the spitfire and like it a lot. The reticle is super crisp and long shots seem easier. The only issues I have is looking through the glass with both eyes open gives different contrast from eye to eye, similar to a scope on 1x and the double circle is busy, one dot and circle would be great.
  13. I run a plus 8 with no problem, spring pressure is great and the first quads in the tube are smooth.
