  1. What primers are you using? CCI small pistol No. 500
  2. I agree, the chamber is a much tighter fit with ammo but with good hand loads it works perfect, I trust KKM barrels and recommend them to anyone.
  3. I polish feed ramps on all my barrels stock or aftermarket. I run a KKM in my open 17 gen three and polished the feed ramp just ensure I don't have any feed issues.
  4. I run the stock striker with a reduced striker spring and have yet to have any issues. Maybe I'm one of the lucky few.
  5. I fitted one by myself on my 17 gen 3. They are pretty much drop in.
  6. Haha I feel your pain, I run an open glock and everyone says to Ditch the thing. Back to business though, shooter connection, best place to get it.
  7. Basically yes they are the same. I prefer ISMI, seem to be built to a better standard and my glock runs better on them.
  8. Sjc makes good comps, the problem with the 11 port however is after baseline tests had bee run on it it was found that the last several ports were useless, no gas had been bled off by the extra ports, most open shooters run the bobby carver 4 port which he specifically redesigned for major shooting glock. I run it and swear by it. Great product and bobby always gets it right.
  9. Yes, the gen 4 is sold with these extra grip panels and do not extend lower then the butt therefor they do not make a magwell, the beaver tail add on is legal.
  10. I run an open 17 built with both sjc and zev complements in major and runs absolutely amazing, get 29 to a big stick using Taylor freelance extensions. Shooting a 40 might hurt in the long run dealing with lower round counts.
  11. Sjc makes a good one. I use it and it is awesome. You can do it your self or they make a kit that comes pre tapped and drilled. I run it on my open gun and absolutely love.
  12. Is that mount available to the public or is it a custom piece for KC? Zev just announced this past week at shot show that the mount will be available to the public.
  13. I have one on my gen 3 g17 and love it, works like a charm. I do know people that think it's too big for their grip and grind it down to fit them. All in all it's a good edition.
  14. It didn't count because it was at the Smith and Wesson national championship, it only counts as a world record if it is recorded there. He does shoot it but the weight and dotmsizenwould put at a serious disadvantage unless you are shooting with his speed and accuracy. The heavy modification needed to mount It to the pistol would also be a big reason not to do it.
  15. It's a good choice. Once you get over having to drill the holes in the frame you'll notice the difference. It is also nices because no lowering of the ejection port is needed and since the optic isn't mounted to the slide it will last much longer.
  16. I use the sjc 90 degree. The big window of the slide ride is a huge advantage and the balance of the gun is pretty good. I've used a doctor 7 moa in the past and the cmore is just absolutely 100 times better with an 8 moa.
  17. Tf is the only extension out there that is 170, sjc offers the modified 33rd mag, but its kind of pricey. I use the tf and love it, works great with no issues.
  18. It should just be a drop in part. I'd start by giving zed a call.
  19. If you are looking to build it on your own a apex makes a great trigger and sjc makes spent of open m&p parts. I built a M&P C.O.R.E. chambered in 40 for my first open gun.
  20. I doubt it held up. I would have to agree, slide mounted optics don't tend to hold up to long due to the punishment they are put through. Your are better getting a sight mounting system rather then breaking multiple sights.

    Open Glock

That isn't a bad option either. I know some guys that have put the g17 upper on the g22 frame saying the reasoning behind it is that the g22 frame is stronger built to handle the power of 40 s&w, but realistically they are the same exact frame. If you were to go this rout you would be better off just buying the g17 upper and bypassing the converstion barrel all together.

    Open Glock

The g17 gen three is a good gun to build an open glock on. As stated though if you don't reload it may not be worth getting into because when you put the compensatory on factory ammo won't run high enough pressures to make the comp work. You could run factory ammo and just by pass the compensator on the open gun(highly unrecommended). If you go that rout you'd be shooting minor power factor instead of major. Compensator wise you have to main choices of manufactures. Bobby Carver's three port is a good comp and works effectively. Bobby also makes comps with mor ports. On the other hand sjc makes a five port comp that is also highly recommended, they also now make an 11 port comp which some say works really well, I haven't shot it personally. bobby carver also makes comps with more ports them three, they also make a two port comp. When it comes to the compensator it is all really on feel and what you think takes the most muzzle flip out of your gun and helps you track your dot the best. I personally run Bobby's three port.
  24. You can run factory loads but the amount of gases produced by the load isn't enough to make the comp work properly.
