  1. Cool, me too! Mine should also be here tomorrow through Fedex.
  2. Thanks for the sanity check. I just ordered 2 from the GlockStore.
  3. I'm sure you are correct that I wouldn't have problems but the diameter on the Gen 5 guide rod end is ~.495" which is much larger than the gen 3's. I would have to assume that the end may wander around on the frame since only the spring tension and adapter would be trying to center it. I know that Jager states on his site the following... "Jager Gen. 5 Guide Rods have been designed from the ground up, not simply an "adapter" which causes inconsistent cycling and lockup due to incorrect fit to frame. With our Gen. 5 specific guide rods, the rear end of the rod sits properly in the frame with no movement or play. One of the main benefits of adding a steel guide rod is to improve consistency of cycling, not decrease consistency. Our recoil assemblies have proven to cure the FTE malfunctions some Gen. 4 G17 owners are experiencing." To explain exactly what I'm concerned about you can compare the gen 3 rods to the gen 5 rods when laying in the frame without the slide on. The Gen 5 is tight and the Gen 3 has nothing to locate the end of the guide rod. I find it odd that all of the captured rods that I've seen have the correct diameter but the uncaptured ones do not. I want all the weight up there I can get. I guess I should just forget about having the correct diameter rod and go with one of the tungsten rods. Jager makes an extended steel rod but it uses Wolff springs and I was wanting to try ISMI.
  4. Can anyone with the Glockstore tungsten rod verify that the diameter on the end that touches the frame is the same diameter as a factory rod? It looks like the Gen 3 size in the pictures and I could only get them to say that "it's the same as factory" on the phone. I need 2 and don't want the hassle or returning them if they don't match the factory end. Also, does anyone know of an uncaptured steel rod that is extended to the end of the slide for the G34 with the correct diameter end that uses ISMI springs? I know how shooters of the lesser used guns feel now. This is the first time I haven't just been able to order exactly what I want for a Glock.
  5. Pretty good point, I haven’t ever thought of it from that perspective.
  6. I’m curious as to why you need more dot? Was it hard to see?
  7. Sounds like a plan. Just last Sunday I had a fellow shooter ask if I wanted to try his M&P with a FF3. I had mentioned holding a P320 X5 Legion and I had seriously thought about buying it instead of the backup G34 that I need. He said plainly that he had tried Glock’s and couldn’t press the trigger correctly and is more accurate with the M&P. I don’t understand how that is possible but it goes to show that everyone is different.
  8. If you only look at the overall ranking which is what most look at anyway then it doesn’t matter what division you shoot. If you shoot Limited then you’ll cut a few seconds off from less reloads but you need that practice to move your classification up so that could be looked at as a negative. My advice for new shooters is always Limited if you don’t have a lot of mags and carriers. Production if you buy a belt and mag carriers. CO if you want to run a dot. My opinion is through A class or maybe M that the gun and gear is almost irrelevant as long as it works. Obviously it does need decent sights and the controls needs to fit the person. I do know how it is though. I’ve been obsessing over trying to gain a half ounce with a guide rod recently. Lol!
  9. I’m evidently just too picky. I’m not 100% comfortable with the one I had chosen due to the flat that contacts the barrel being the Gen 3 size. Is the Glockstore rod the correct size for the Gen5? I’m surprised that there aren’t more tungsten uncaptured rods available designed specifically for the Gen5

    GEN 5 Finish

Mine is holding up as good as my Gen3’s.
  11. My G34 has the cutout. I think it’s not much of a big deal on a full size. I wouldn’t sweat buying a used pistol with the cutout if the opportunity presented itself. I would not want it on a compact at all at any price. YMMV. Well maybe for two fifty I’d deal with it.
  12. I’m hesitant to mention this because the Glock may not be for you but I know that I enjoy shooting my Glock’s with polished trigger parts and a lightened striker spring many times over a bone stock G17. You can do this stuff yourself if you are patient and can follow instructions. In fact, you need to be able to work on your own gun to truly enjoy this sport.
  13. Yep! This is happening at my local matches also.
  14. Thanks, I’m assuming that uses ISMI springs? Do you know the diameter?
  15. I’m setting up a Gen 5 G34 for CO and was thinking I should try a large diameter full length tungsten guide rod. I have the large diameter steel rod in my Production G34 but can’t seem to find the equivalent rod in tungsten for the Gen 5. Am I missing something? Should I just stick with stainless? Also, is there a go to source for small parts for Glock’s? It seems I always end up having to order from multiple sources for small parts like springs and trigger parts to get what I need.

    downside to MOS?

I only know what I’ve read but it sounds like you want the Gen5 for the better ejection. Gen3’s and I’m assuming ones with aftermarket slides have to be tuned to reduce brass strike on the optic. If that isn’t an issue for you then it doesn’t matter which one you go with. Personally, I like the flexibility of the MOS system.

    downside to MOS?

Anyone know if the RMR height Dawson’s work with the SRO?
  18. Thanks for the recommendation. I did not know about this podcast.
  19. Good tips so far, a gun that works and a good dry fire routine should get most people to B class or beyond.
  20. I also listen to Ben’s Practical Shooting after dark, Firearm’s Nation, Shannon Smith’s shooting show and Shoot Fast Podcast. Ben Berry’s Short Course is good when he starts back putting out new material and Josh Froelich’s Addicted is good but there aren’t many new shows.
  21. Steve’s podcast is called “That Shooting Show”. You should be able to find it with any podcast app on your phone or computer. It’s definitely the best value right now in podcast. He’s putting a lot of thought in it.
  22. Also start listening to Steve’s podcast. He can teach a C class shooter much about mindset and stage planning.
  23. Dots will become more and more popular as they become more reliable and the average age of shooters increases.
  24. What performance issue did you have with the G17? Can you tell us your specific problems? Can you shoot with acceptable accuracy when not under the timer? Decent fundamentals? It seems you are focused on the gun. The gun is probably the least likely reason you aren’t happy with your results. Buy Anderson and/or Stoeger’s dry fire books and get to work. Listen to Anderson’s podcast for free and get to work. You will see improvements very fast. I haven’t even “went to work” and I’m getting better every match.
