  1. For the four divisions that I care to shoot (open, singlestack/classic, prod and carry/prod optics) I have 2 identical guns for each: 2 identical open guns (plus a third extra backup?!) 2 identical bull barrel Trojans (actuallly 3 atm but I’ll sell one) 2 shadow 2’s and 2 shadow 2’s with optics. The only downside side is double everything. Example of match gun say gets a new mag button then backup gets it too. Match gun got new front sight? Yep, change the backup too. For me they are less useful if they aren’t very close to identical. Plus it means one gun can do all the heavy lifting in practice and keep the ‘match gun’ in better condition.
  2. Btw your cz shorty open looks awesome.
  3. If you used a shadow slide you could avoid that as there’s no fpb or cross pin. Not sure it’s worth it though. Exposing the fpb hole doesn’t matter.
  4. I load sitting. The correct height is important. You want it so that your shoulder is about level with the top of the handle.
  5. Why don’t you just get the full dustcover in small frame? The dustcover length has nothing to do with sf/lf.
  6. You can’t adjust the sa pre travel with a screw. It’s set by the disconnector.

    CZ FO Sights

Dawson front sights have the fiber closer to the top of the post. They are the best choice for a cz by far. Also, the cgw front sights are Dawson front sights.
  8. For completion or actually for carry? for competition I prefer the cmore rts2. And yes I have a DPP too but I prefer the cmore. For carry I would not choose the cmore.
  9. Agree. Nothing wrong with a tuned up edge.

    Shadow 2 Optic?

Yeah particularly the dovetail. They just left it the full width of the mount even though the actual dovetail on the slide is half that. With the Henning mount cut to the same width as the dovetail its easier to center up the mount too. It’s really nice.

    Shadow 2 Optic?

The shadow 2 dovetail is same as shadow 1. The czc multi optix plate offers any optic you would want. However if you’re not planning on changing around optics the Henning mount is far nicer. Its: thinner lighter (drilled out for lightness) dovetail cut to correct width (czc one is just the width of the plate) plate is short enough to allow access to extractor pin (czc is a bees dick too long) comes with 3 set screws plus 3 spares (2 in the czc) all corners rounded off. The czc plate is a great design in that it fits so many optics but the Henning plates are next level nice.
  12. Yep. I agree. The fa primer tool fills a tube in about 20 seconds for me. Never had an issue in 50,000+ primers through it.
  13. Yeah 3n38 or n105 is the tits in 38sc. I would probably go with a 115gn jhp and somewhere above 10gn of 3n38 at 1.240. Probably start at 9.8gn and see what velocity that gives you. All barrels are a bit different.
  14. It takes about 10 min to setup for a new bullet type. Then it just runs and runs. They are worth every penny.
  15. The stock delrin guiderod is fine. I don’t see any need for a buffer. I have shot many 10s of thousands without one.
  16. A very common setup to start with is: 2 x 170 4 x 140 of those you can earmark 2 of the 140s to be your ‘drop’ mags. Ie use them on classifieds or stage starts where you know you’re going to drop a partially full mag. Keep an eye on all your mags but those 2 in particular as they’ll get a bit beat up. 2 170s give you some flexibility and having a few 140s adds to your options. If the stage is less than say 26-27 rounds I’ll always use one of the 170s to get it done without a reload. Don’t reload unless you have to. If it’s longer than that then you have a choice or starting with either the 140 or 170.
  17. Thanks for sharing the vid. One question: didn’t these go on sale nearly a year ago? Are there any out there in customers hands?
  18. I’m going to go against the grain and say don’t tip money into the old gun. Sell the old gun and add that to your $4k. Now look at the popular builders like venom (donnyglock on this forum) or atlas or even a ck. That will leave you plenty of $ for mags etc too. Donnyglock/venom seems to be a pretty rare combo of value/timeliness/performance. I have no first hand experience with his guns but other guys on here do.
  19. there is one more issue to be aware of and that is the cut in the back of the mag tube where the cartridge rail of the slide passes through. the STI mags have a sort of square ish cut in the back of the tube. old SV mags have a narrower rounder cut. I'm not sure on new style sv mags. on my CK's the centre rail/cartridge bar on the slide would hit the sides of that cut in the mag tube. it causes little burrs in the tube and made some gouges in the cartridge rail itself. my solution was I just went back to using all STI tubes in the CK's and kept the SV tubes for my SV but you can widen up that cut out. just keep an eye on it. the cartridge rail in the CK slides is noticeably wider than the one in my SV slide.
  20. My advice? Chuck it away. You don’t need one in a shadow.
  21. I’ve run both the shad and shad2 in co. Both are good but the shad2 is better. Primarily the grip shape and checkering. It’s worth getting the 2 just for that reason.
  22. the other cause (and most common in my experience) is if you're right handed it could be your strong hand thumb just touching the slide lock lever.
  23. Wolf variable in my 2 ck's and my svi. Vary between 7 and 9lb depending on load etc.
