Forming 300bo brass on 650 w rt1500
cvincent replied to 1911FL's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
i used a piece of fired factory 300blk brass to set it up initially. Set the size/trim die to size properly without the trimmer attached. then attach trimmer to trim to the proper length, just like you stated with your 223 tool head setup. once thats all set then run a piece of 5.56 brass through and check trim length and sizing. Im not sure how one would do it with only 5.56 brass, seems like it would just be trial and error. -
I’ve never seen a crimped 40. They may be out there, but I don’t know. I would suggest a different reloading strategy, I buy raw, mixed brass without issues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My last thread on concentricity issues re: LC brass
cvincent replied to Chills1994's topic in Rifle/Shotgun
Yup,the expander balls suck. I run Dillon size die with ball removed, the die is backed out so it does not fully size the case. Then a trim die, it trims and finish sizes to my liking. On the loading toolhead it has M die, powder, MBF, seat, Lee FCD. Runout is max .003” on a MK7 650. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Dillons lube for rifle. A Generous amount. Brass Juice for pistol. I like it better than One Shot. have some rifle Brass Juice that I have yet to try. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Kinda strange, as I have to use 5 for 9mm. And 4or 5 for .223, sizing/trimming. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Have you tried moving the bearings to different holes? I get 2 Bullets drop occasionally, but the top one has never made it to the seating station, it falls off during indexing. Depending on your clutch setting, it probably would stop the machine if two bullets were stacked in the seater. I run at clutch at 3 for 40 with case lube. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mark 7 Evolution and Revolution
cvincent replied to Face5535's topic in non-Dillon Reloading Equipment
In regards to support, in at least the last two posts, I’m assuming they do not have an auto drive from Mark 7 since questioning their support. From what I’ve seen and read they have excellent support, for current auto drive owners there is a closed facebook group. I’ve seen one or two people have posted about lack of support, only to have their claims be refuted by mark7 usually within minutes of the said posting. I commented on a Post by a member describing a problem about a sensor, indicating I had the same issue intermittently. Mark7 opened a ticket and resolved the issue without me having to contact them. Another instance, I inquired about a sale they were having (again on Facebook) and received a call from them not more than 5 minutes later. I think their support will be there. When the follower rod hits the alarm, you dump in 100 primers. Rinse and repeat. Works every single time, no need to guess or feel whether there’s a primer in the disc. If you want to empty the tube, just click the primer arm by hand till it’s empty. When filling the tube, and no case in station 1, click the arm 6 times, then start pulling the handle. you’ll have a primer ready for the first case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dillon 650 Trimmer Options?
cvincent replied to Tokarev's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Haha yup. The shavings are horrible to deal with. I’m going to be converting blackout within the next few weeks so I’ll get to see how the boring bar and pvc pipe work out. Corrugated vacuum hose clogs way too fast. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
These are at 100yards with a front and rear bag. I swapped out scopes and scope mounts, to eliminate as a cause, groups did get better, but that could be the fact that I went from an Atibal 1-8 to a Razor 1-6... I did try some PPU match factory ammo, it shot ~1hole groups out of my bolt action .308, so i figured I’d give the .223 version a try, not impressive. I probably should de copper the bore and go from there.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What kind of groups should one expect out of minimal effort in loading .223? Using 650, MK7. LC brass, but not sorted by headstamp. It gets Dillon size die with expander ball removed, trim die to ~1.750. Loading toolhead gets M die, powder, MBF, Dillon seater, Dillon crimper. I’ve tried 6 or 7 powders, 5 bullets. Current favorite is 23gr 8208 over 77TMK. Testing the 73ELDs the best group was 21.9gr of 8208. I Got better groups out of a Faxon pencil barrel than I get out of my JP 18” barrel. I barely get anything under an inch at 100 out of the JP. It has ~8000 rounds on it. Getting a little frustrated with the JP as it’s my main 3 gun rifle. Powders; H335, TAC, Varget, shooters world tactical rifle and match rifle, AA2460, CFE223, 8208 XBR. Tried 75gr hornady, 69TMK, 77TMK, 73ELD. Any comments, insights, experience would be welcome and appreciated. Faxon 16” Pencil barrel JP barrel, same load as above 21.9 gr 8208, 73ELDs JP 23gr 8208, 77TMK This is also the best group that has ever came out of the gun. I’d be happy with this if it’s consistent, which makes me think it’s just the variances in my ammo manufacturing with minimal effort, through an automated progressive. Thanks. Just saw They want $18 to ship them, not really cheap anymore at 21 cents apiece. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dillon 650 Trimmer Options?
cvincent replied to Tokarev's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
The motor is fine, works great. The large amount of brass shavings either get sucked into the bearings of the motor, get wrapped around the end mill, creating high amp draw and tripping electrical breakers, clogging up vacuum hoses. Those are the issues I’ve had. I’ve probably converted ~6K pieces. The GSI deal may be something to look at. I think I’ve alleviated most of my problems but haven’t ran a batch since changing to a boring bar and PVC pipe for the vacuum hose. Hoping the boring bar with chip breaker insert breaks down the long stringy brass shavings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Dillon 650 Trimmer Options?
cvincent replied to Tokarev's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
That does seem to be a good deal if it works and lasts. If only trimming 223 I’m sure it’s fine. When converting to 300blk brass is where all the issues surface. The huge amounts of brass shavings are a pain to deal with. Never seen a honey badger adapter. Only difference I see is the jack nut for concentricity. I Don’t have a fancy concentricity gauge, but rigged up a dial indicator to a machinists V block and getting .003” Bullet runout. Seems pretty legit.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Long shot here; anyone have about 50 of these that I could buy, to test in 300blk. Can’t find any smaller lots than 500. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dillon 650 Trimmer Options?
cvincent replied to Tokarev's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
The expander ball is not the best option. It may work for 55gr Bullets. But heavier Bullets will topple during indexing. Get an M die. It’s 25$ and well worth it. I run Dillon decap/ size with expander ball removed in station 1. Trimmer in 4. Using the Titian trimmer adapter and Bosch motor. Loading toolhead has the M die in station 1. I think you need the casefeeder adapter as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Dang that sucks, S&B are my go to primers, I don’t know of anyone else that carries them either.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I see midsouth now has it in stock. Anyone tried it yet? Supposed to be the new hotness. Better than Varget and Meters in Dillion measures. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

S1050 300BO Powder Funnel? AK or 30M1
cvincent replied to oteroman's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
That’s what I use the Ak powder funnel. M die for flaring. Gotta be careful with the funnel because it remove the flare, have to set it to completely actuate the powder drop fully, but not unflare the case. -
For sure try it. You probably don’t need it. But if you do, here’s an old video of a case feeder mod I made. Worked really good. Under 20$ probably. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I did the same thing when I got my SV. I had quite few malfunctions that required the “hold the slide while you smack the shit out of the grip”. So I started GRx’ing Come to find out it was the profile of the Bullet. Not bulged cases. I have since got rid of the grx and case gauging all together. I am 100% confident in my ammo. Dillon size die, MBF powder funnel, Redding comp seat die, Lee FCD. Mark 7 650. Flawless. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Still needs a hold down rod though. It would be just like the 650 with a swage it. I’m really hoping dillons new CP1000 is priced right for a process machine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
