  1. Here's the numbers for you. ISR GM - 10 M - 16 A - 50 B - 178 C - 333 D - 179 OSR GM - 14 M - 22 A - 56 B - 138 C - 177 D - 70
  2. Regardless of when it's held if you're an area 4 member you'll want to get in on it. Same for your specific area match.
  3. I'll post the numbers I have for ISR and OSR tomorrow. They will be current as of Wednesday of this week.
  4. Thanks for tagging me. I participated in the January in-person BoD meeting down in Tampa FL. There was a very brief side discussion regarding Rimfire Revolver but nothing official was discussed at the meeting. I do know that a couple of years a go it was on the agenda, brought up, and it failed to get any interest. We (USPSA) have the ability to add provisional divisions but historically every provisional division has become an official one. There are a bunch of things in the works for Steel Challenge in the coming months. I would recommend everyone go read the January in person BoD minutes to see what exactly I presented. It's a big enough topic that it deserves its own thread. I have held off saying anything because I was curious to see if anyone would mention anything. Seems Steel Shooters don't read the minutes. Going forward you probably will want to ;).
  5. Looks like I misspoke. I just checked the list of approved matches and Area 4 is not listed. Our goal is to have an Area championship in all 8 areas this calendar year. I'll reach out to the Area 4 director and see what I can find out.
  6. Trust me I understand the frustration! We are working on things to make the process easier for the 2023 match but right now I'm concentrating on making the 2022 match a world record attendance breaker.
  7. It's unfortunate it's not going to be run at your range but I am glad to see it's on again.
  8. Another TT user here wishing the forum worked like it once did in the past.
  9. For me I'm looking at South Georgia in March - RM for that match WSSC in April/May - Jack of all trades for that match. Area 6 in late Sep/Oct. HyperShooters Fall Brawl - RM for that match Monthly club match even though it's supposed to be 20 degrees in the morning and a high of only 40 I'll be out there and yes for you northerns that's nothing but for this thin blood southern boy that's cold!
  10. Everyone attempting to resister was frustrated. I finally had to turn off my phone because it was going off like crazy. As you're aware we worked through the waiting list and got you and your wife all setup.
  11. No knowledge other than it's supposed to be moved to another range.
  12. You are correct. There isn't anyone named as an SCSA area director; however, the current 8 AD's do hear discussions and vote on SCSA subjects so that really makes the current 8 AD's for USPSA handgun and Steel Challenge. The same can be said for multi-gun. We do not have named multi-gun AD's but they hear discussions about that and vote on rules, etc. The penalty for OL did need to be standardized. Having one RM not enforce a penalty, another enforce 1 second penalty didn't make for consistency across the stage which makes things like setting peak stage times difficult. I lobbied hard for a standard 3 second procedural penalty but the board approved a 4 second penalty. Additional official stages has been discussed but no real action has been taken on it. We have attempted to mitigate the issue of not being able to setup OL and SO by introducing the "speed six" as Jeff Jones calls them. This is what several state-championship matches choose to run. Regarding your last paragraph that's the same idea that I thought about this weekend while discussing Steel Challenge with a member that's going to be running for President. I completely agree that we should have representation at the BoD level. Prior to being fired Mike Foley was that representation. I don't need to be involved with all of the BoD activities so having a brief period of time at the beginning of the board meetings where I could present times to the board is a good idea.
  13. I'm not worthy of being listed :). I serve as the Steel Challenge National Program Director for USPSA. I was appointed to that position by Mike Foley. I do anything and everything related to the sport. Per-covid it wasn't unusual for my wife and I to be on the at least monthly to go run matches. I've served as Range Officer, Match Director, Stats Officer, Range Master at everything from club level matches through the world shoot. Although I basically live and breath steel challenge for USPSA I do not work alone nor do I have a ton of say so on things. I am consulted for my input but ultimately it's the USPSA BoD that makes all decisions regarding the sport. Regarding AD/SC it basically breaks down like this. The USA is divided into 8 areas. within each area there are section coordinators. The SC's work with AD's for slots at nations, new club development, etc.
  14. It's my pleasure. I'm just glad work has finally let up so I can start traveling. I'm heading down to Area 6 Steel match next weekend.
  15. I'm still alive and kicking. This past year has been an extremely busy one for me. In my real job I had a project that was required to be completed prior to 8/31 or else the servers would be shut down until it was done. I couldn't let that happen. We did the cut over to the new servers on 8/14 so that huge weight is finally off my shoulders. I've skimmed through the thread and will add my 2 cents worth shortly.
  16. Once approved by HQ as a tier X match it remains a tier X match. I know of one tier 3 match that was downgraded to tier 2 and that was Area 6 one year when we had less than 100 competitors.
  17. 10" plate was accidentally used where a 12" plate should have been used so it was tossed.
  18. "They" could be anyone :). If you say you emailed me and I didn't reply then I know whose ass to chew :).
  19. By rule we (USPSA) are required to perform an analysis of the PST's. We do that upon completion of WSSC each year. We did it for 2020 and will be working on 2021 review shortly. We look at a ton of different factors such as how many competitors, regardless of current classification, shot faster than the current PST. How many GM's shot below, etc. Our analysis is presented to President Mike Foley who then presents it to the BoD for final review and approval. One way to simplify the process is to set the 100% PST time equal to the current world record for that division and stage. For some odd reason I can't seem to get anyone to sign off on that idea :). Also for anything related to Steel Challenge don't email "them" email me - that's my job - zack@uspsa.org
  20. At WSSC for Showdown, Outer Limits, Accelerator, The Pendulum, and Roundabout we set them parallel to the front edge of the shooting box. All other stages have one or more plates angled.
  21. Could be any number of reasons. Lack of time to prepare or lack of desire to shoot it. Shane Coley, Ashley Rheuark (set 2 world record times), Sal Luna, and other "named" competitors shot the match. We (USPSA) are pleased with the turnout. Sure we wanted to break 700 this year but things just didn't work out. Next year (27 April - 1 May 2022) we'll try again to get 700+.
  22. Please pm me your USPSA number and I'll take a look at it and see if I can figure out what's wrong.
  23. A little late to this party here's my 2 cents worth. Unless the match is stopped by a match official then everyone continues to shoot. It's really no different than the position of the sun during the day or wind direction or a thousand other factors. I'd DNF them as well and move on. If they want back and shot afterwards and removed the DNF then that's on the MD and his or her integrity.
  24. No DQ in either scenario. The competitor did not handle the loaded magazine. In the New SCSA rules see 10.3.10
  25. Take what I say with a grain of salt because only DNROI makes the rules and rulings but here's my take on it and how I'd handle it as the RM: A centerfire competitor may not remove his holstered firearm and put in in a cart or backpack, etc. for transport. I realize there's no specific rule that that states that so let's assume a competitor does it. Now competitor moves to next stage and takes the holstered firearm out of the cart and puts it back on. In my mind a match DQ under rule 8.1.1.5 would be justification. I know the competitor didn't "drop" the firearm on the ground but they are technically retrieving it, unsupervised which is why I'd use 8.1.1.5 for the DQ. I will bring this up to DNROI's attention so something can be added to our rules in the next revision.
