  1. I made a set of from some thin cardboard mailers. They look terrible. These look great!
  2. I carry a long security cable that I can run through my helmet and jacket when I travel light. That leaves the boots out though. Maybe you can look into using a tail bag (https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/4462/-/915188/Wolfman-Peak-Tail-Bag-Black?gclid=CJW48oSPrc0CFQmSaQodZbEEP)%C2'> a backpack combo.
  3. There are two springs, an inner and outer spring, for the bolt release. Try taking the inner one out.
  4. Thanks for weighing in. I look forward to hearing other people's experience using fireclean on these parts.
  5. I have two Versa Maxes (Maxi?) and I am now shooting them more often than my rifle or pistol. I call it the new .22, since 12ga is readily available. Cleaning them is not a big deal except for the gas pistons. These things get pretty caked up and it takes a good bit time to get them cleaned back up. Does anyone have experience using FireClean on the gas pistons? Does it cut down on cleaning time, and does it interfere with the gun functioning? I've heard that these parts should not be oiled, even though I have been lightly lubing them. Thanks!
  6. I just bought a safe, mostly for the same reasons you are talking about. I ended up getting a Sturdy Safe. Most of the money goes towards steel. The thick steel and construction makes getting into it much more difficult than most of the same cost or lower cost alternatives. Nothing fancy, no super fine finishing work, just great functionality. I chose not to get fire proofing for a few reasons. One was to save a few bucks since the fire station is less than a mile and that all the houses are right next to each other. I have insured the heck out of it all too.
  7. Good advice. A Benelli Supernova with an extension will get you going until you can afford the shotgun you want. Then you will have a great back up or can sell it for a minimal loss.
  8. FP-10 recommended by JP Rifles.
  9. Hahaha. Yeah, chicken and egg conundrum then. I suck at rifle.
  10. I have 3 ar500 steel gongs and I end up shooting out or sheering the bolts every rifle practice session. Any hints on where to get some good hardened steel bolts? Other hanging hardware suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
  11. Now that the post has gone south... Am I the only one of the forum that laughs every time I read dropping a deuce?
  12. Thanks for help. My buddy has a relative that just finished welding school. That turns out to be windfall. Instead of spending over $10 a stand, we can build them for just a few bucks a piece and buy more knockdown targets. I guess this will be like reloading and I will probably not save much money. Another question- Do y'all paint the re-bar, and what type of paint do you use? I don't have a truck, and it would be nice to keep the rust down.
  13. I've found some good deals from a manufacturer close by for steel plates with a base. However, they don't makes stands. I am having trouble finding a inexpensive solution for the stands. Something like re-bar with a flat base welded at the top. Thoughts, suggestions? Thanks!
  14. I just finished up al the episodes in about three weeks. I loved the way this series just kept building momentum to the end.
  15. I wouldn't care to have this sport get sponsorship from businesses that kills over 400,000 people a year (from using a product as directed).
  16. Thanks for the quick replies. The holster is legal. I wanted a few opinions before heading off to a few more matches at different clubs. I don't want to be the new person rocking to boat.
  17. My gun is pointed slightly behind me when holstered. The holster is an old kydex paddle holster and is not adjustable. The angle of the holster was brought up at the last match I shot. I'd like to keep using the holster if it is legal to use. I've read the rules and I I'd like to hear what y'all think. I am trying to save a couple of bucks, having my eyes on a few other gun related purchases before getting a new holster. Thoughts?
  18. Can anyone give me a schedule on what is going on Sunday? I'm working in New Orleans this Saturday. I want to swing by on Sunday to check out the vendors and watch some shooting. Thanks! Chris
  19. Thanks for the warm welcome! And thanks for the links, Mosher.
  20. I had a friend drag me to a match several months ago and I was lucky enough to find some ammo and participate. I forgot just how much I enjoyed the sport. Now, after 5 or 6 years, I'm going to get back into competitive shooting. I also want to get involved into shotgun, rifle and 3-gun instead of just handgun. I look forward to participating in the forums and getting some great advice. I'm sure to have plenty of questions- getting an AR, a press, finding powder, etc. All the best, Chris Pike
