  1. Old thread apologies. Why do you think the lfcd caused bullets to tumble? Some say if the FCD is tightened down pretty tight it can actually resize the bullet down slightly. What may happen is once squashed the brass springs back but the bullet doesn't. Any of these issues can cause stability issues. I personally use the FCD in 9mm but only have it down far enough to crimp and NOT fully resize the case. The way I understand it, the FCD has a carbide sizing ring at the mouth of the die. How can you have it not fully resizing the case?
  2. I run Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension dies and Lee FCD on all calibers. I size on a Single for rifle and leave station one open. I really like the floating sleeve on the Hornady seating die. I do have the micrometer seater plug for my rifle tool heads.
  3. I only have primed caes now and it worked slightly better than before. I don't know if the extra weight helped a little, but I was still able to capture the two phenomenon I mentioned above. Typically I would have completely prepped cases with no primer going into the 650 (no sizing dies in station 1) Small rifle plate - you can see how any case that falls in mouth first ends up passing over the opening at the top. Even with a primed case, the rim won't fall through when the case is mouth first. Eventually all the slots will fill up with a mouth first case and then you're stuck. I've adjusted the metal tab and cannot get them to fall no matter what. Small Rifle Video Large Pistol Plate with 2 washers - skip to about 2:25 and you will them start to pile up along the edge. It goes about 30 seconds without dropping a case when one finally drops into a hole and it stirs up the pile. and the cases start feeding again. Once we're down to 4 cases (3:22) they get into endless mode and nothing else ever drops. I think a 30+ second delay would case the tube to empty and I'd have to stop pulling the handle and wait for it to catch up. Large Pistol Video I think I'm pretty close, but I'd really like it to be a little more consistent before I spend the money on a tool head and conversion kit.
  4. I tried the small rifle plate but I could only get the cases to fall into the tube if they ended up in the slot rim first. If they are lined up mouth first, they will not fall into the tube no matter where I set my metal tab. They would just pass by the tube. Once all the slots filed up with a mouth first case then nothing will ever fall. With the Large Pistol plate and 2 washers, once it gets down to just 8-10 cases then they will line up in a single file line on their sides along the very edge of the plate (resting on the edge of the case feeder) and will never fall into one of the holes. I'll try and get some video of the issues posted this evening
  5. Anyone figure out a trick to get the 650 case feeder to reliably feed 7.62x39 cases? I have SP,LP, and SR plates and have tried every combination with little success. Dillon recommends 2 spacer washers on the LP plate. That seemed to work the best, but was fairly inconsistent and the last 8-10 pieces of brass would just line up along the edge and the plate with the plate spining underneath them forever. Has anyone had any better results with x39? I'm not going to buy a conversion kit unless I can get the casefeeder working a little better.
  6. Yes, I use a LFCD on my 9mm, 380, 40S&W, 45ACP, and .223 Rem tool heads. I did order a few packages of the Dillon lock rings. The dies are fairly short for the Dillon tool heads, and some of my Lee lock rings would not bite on the die because it was threaded in so far. The Dillon rings seem to work a bit better, plus the Dillon wrench now works for all my lock rings.
  7. There are tons of Dillon 650 videos on youtube but I haven't found a decent one showing how to clean/lube one. Someone could do us Dillon newbies a huge favor and make a youtube video showing the proper way to break down and lube on of these machines...
  8. My 40 Kit came with both red and purple upper case feed adapter (I'm assuming the red is for 10mm). I used the red one on my first batch it worked fine, I've since switched to the purple since that is what is recommended, but like I said, I had no issues with the red one. Call Dillon and tell them your conversion kit was missing the purple adapter, I can't imagine them not sending you one.
  9. I believe the green bushing is your problem... try the red one. I also think the correct upper case feed adapter is purple for 40, but the red one works too..
  10. I ordered a 650 with all the extras (no dies) a couple weeks ago and had everything in 4 days.
