  1. Routine inspection during cleaning and replacing wear over high round counts. I'll stick with the SCS. It's been the number 1 part I recommend on any AR to make the recoil impulse smoother, improve reliability and smooth out the sound.
  2. In every gun I've shot with these there's a janky double recoil impulse that's extremely distracting. Stick with the JP.
  3. Spend a ton of time shooting it and less time tinkering. Q1: Function > All with mags. Load to manufacturer recommendation. Q2: Syntech -> 80 degree lock. 124/5 gr Reloads -> 70 degree lock. Run your accurate reloads or factory and practice, practice, practice.
  4. Yeah, either the lock ring or groove in the slider (what the weights ride on) sounds worn. If the weights were freely bouncing for too long when the initial o-rings were fraying from use I could see the lock ring being damaged. I'd check the groove and ring. Shouldn't be too expensive to repair.
  5. Is the slider groove where the lock ring goes worn out? Are you using dull, not at all pointy tools to install the O-rings or completely disassembling the SCS?
  6. Working on getting signatures now coach
  7. They are meant for Steel Challenge loads. I personally didn't need them for my SCSA loads. The 80 degree lock piece ran great for those.
  8. I run the stainless 3 port. That one seems to have provided the best recoil reduction / impulse in my testing.
  9. @PaleoMan very nice! Congrats on a sweet rifle and thank you for the pics! Now time to get it dirty. If we can see the color of the extractor spring it's too clean and needs to be shot
  10. If you're super worried about downloading mags and locking back, run stock GLOCK-brand-GLOCK 17 rounders. They lock back and you're already downloading for some reason or another. Every generation of GLOCK-brand-GLOCK mags I have used in my JP-5's have all fed and functioned. Standard 33's with either Taylor Freelance or TTI basepads. New mag springs tend to lock back more consistently than old mag springs. I don't care though because unless I really messed something up, I shouldn't be empty.
  11. I think like everything, a few might be like you're describing but the vast majority of experienced folks are still very much the same. For example, you'd never know @shred was the 2003 Area 4 Steel Challenge Champion until you saw him shoot. Meanwhile he was chatting with everyone before a stage, giving advice, offering cautionary words about crazy game plans and being totally normal. Normal until he "ROFLSTOMPED" a stage and beat you by 20% as if it were a walk in the park on a warm spring day. By the way, Jerry is still the nicest guy and still says hello to everyone that recognizes him.
  12. One of our other MD's has been tinkering for 4 months. 2 other guys I've shot with have had feeding issues. Just seems like there's too many misses in the hit or miss to merit a general recommendation. You might have good ones. But I wouldn't gamble on winning a good one at that price point with the odds I've seen.
  13. Glad you enjoyed it! You forgot to include pictures though.
  14. Skip that one. Skip the Prodigy as well. Too much tinkering required to get the latter running. In that range the Priest is actually a solid buy. I haven't messed with the new Stacattos. Infinities are expensive but dang they are nice. I run a Shadow 2 Orange now. They just fit my hands really well.
  15. Best bet is JP direct. I checked a few places and the market is pretty picked clean.
  16. What bullet profile and weight? Some profiles are more forgiving going through the transition and bullet column weight can contribute to that issue. As has been said, some people have to blend the transition. I haven't personally done this. All of my TTI and TF extensions have worked out of the box.
  17. Yes, I picked it up from WSSC years ago. You wrap the 2x4 with duct tape about 4 inches above and below the bottom line of your target. This way when shooters have a perfect wind call but elevation is a bit off you can take more hits before shooting out the board.
  18. 1) MGM Targets and they have been fantastic. Zero broken hangers, targets or stands since purchase in 2020. 4) Ease of set up and ease of maintenance. Maintenance: MGM's no weld design is very simple to fix when the hanger finally gives out. Some other designs I've seen are a colossal pain to swap the hanger parts because lead can get in the bolt threads etc. Set up: Stands are easy to put out and stake down. 2x4's are used for the replaceable posts. Tip - Duct tape keeps massive chunks from being shot out and flip the 2x4's before they break. Caps go on easy and the targets hang easy. They do NOT fall off, ever, but they do come off easily when you go to tear down.
  19. The TS2 Orange was the model I was after when I thought 40 was still fun to shoot. Right now a lot of folks are letting go of Limited guns in 40 so I understand if the deal is good enough to go for the older TSO. Any generation of Tac Sport mags work, but not the 75 series. I had the best luck with Grams springs and followers with the CZC tool-less basepads but the CZC followers also worked well.
  20. Fair on the build times being a limit. I agree on the employee participation as well. Stacatto seems to be getting back to being very involved between the new range hosting events and local matches as well as what you mentioned about encouraging participation.
  21. Is the "popularity" of LO at your club similar to Nationals popularity of LO where a bunch of CO guys slapped magwells on CO guns? I'm not seeing any of the bougie 2011's locally but we've never really seen those to begin with. I do agree with the point though. My initial hope was the perception of requiring an expensive gun to compete would stop the division before it started.
  22. I don't have a ton of experience but the one I shot ran amazing. 9.8 of 3n38 is basically what I ran. I think I was at 9.6 with 124's at 1.243" OAL (+/- 0.002 on Dillon). I even ran 95's with that same powder charge which ran hilariously. I'd say call in, explain what's going on and it's likely a very easy fix. Just double checking the basics, you're case gauging your ammo before running it? Bullet isn't some wonky profile?
  23. Hahaha! I just show up with 2 mags per stage and a few extras. All pre-loaded, 'natch!
