  1. Most sights will take a little fitting by filing/sanding/stoning the bottom of the sight. Go slowly and you’ll be fine.
  2. My buddy has one of the 4" models (I forget which one) and is a dealer for them (it's an Israeli thing). I was able to put a couple of rounds thru it and he has shot it at the local Sunday night match. It's a very nice pistol with little to no work needed out of the box for an average shooter. As per the OP, I have no dog in the fight at all.
  3. http://dvcperformance.com/#2872 I took a class with Aaron. It helped immensely.
  4. I mean heck... allow SS/Optics in CO with 10 round mags obviously scored as minor. I’d be down.
  5. Thank you for making my point. CO started off with very low numbers. Look at it now. The ability to purchase a production gun and slap an optic on top is very appealing. The numbers prove that out. SS is a dwindling division. Allowing an optic in that division just might help it grow. Oh, I get it. Thank you for the response. I don’t take it too seriously. It’s the internet after all. Additionally, I don’t and wouldn’t want to make a living shooting my gun. Another reason I don’t take it very seriously. It’s just a game.
  6. Does anyone actually read the OP...?
  7. So does single stack and limited. If the trigger is the determining factor, then a lot of guns would belong in Open. I know what you're trying to convey. I just don't necessarily agree with it. Think of it this way: The NRA, for all their foibles, did a good thing and created a competitive rifle class; F-Class, for shooters with aging eyes to shoot their Palma style rifles with a scope. It's a pretty popular class and a lot of fun. This would be a similar thing for pistols/USPSA. I'm not expecting any changes, but I do think it would be a good thing.
  8. Does anyone else think this should be a thing? I'm a fan on the 1911 platform (TBH, I like all guns as evidenced by the fact that I shoot Glocks a lot). However, my eyes suck. I just can't see the front sight as well as I could even 5 years ago. On my Glocks I've switched over to dots and really like them. I have a gun that I'm building (ZEV OZ-9ish) as a dedicated CO rig. But it's just not a 1911. I'd love to be somewhat competitive in whatever class I shoot and if I have a dot on a 1911, I'm in "Open" and am pretty sure I'll get hosed. Shooting fast is fun, being somewhat competitive is funner. Additionally, I'm in a restricted state. This would be a solid class for those of us caught behind enemy lines (don't say it, I HAVE to be here right now) I'd say same rules as CO: No comps/magwells. Red dot mounted to the slide. Gun needs to be somewhat of a production model. All scored as minor. I think it would be a fun little sub-set. Thoughts?
  9. Posted in 1911 sub-forum. Sorry, I'm still getting used to this place.

    New Stuff?

    Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification.

    New Stuff?

They offer a Shadow2 milled for a dot?

    New Stuff?

Thanks. I'd love a Shadow2 milled for a dot from CZ directly. It's what I hope someone says is going to be released.

    New Stuff?

I think that's on their website already. https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-shadow-2-sa/ Is/would that be allowed in CO? I'm a complete newbie. My understanding is that CO must be SA/DA or DA.

    New Stuff?

Is CZ dropping anything at SHOT show that I should know about? I'm wondering if they are going to add any optics cut slides to the line-up? I'm considering adding a pistol to my safe this year and would like someting milled from the factory. Thanks all.

    ZEV OZ9

I have a ZEV-ish OZ9. I purchased the frame and grip from ZEV. I used their pins and small parts. Trigger is an Apex purple. Current top end is stock Glock17/3. I do have another top end on order. I don't particularly like the styling of the ZEV stuff(hence why I'm not using it, It's a bit too fancy for me. I have a holster from GX on the way. This is my main match pistol. I don't have enough rounds thru the gun to say anything relevant about reliability, however I really like shooting it. I've got about 500 through it with no issues. That, to me, isn't enough. Once I double that I'll have a better feeling about the reliability aspect of the pistol. It is accurate enough for my current needs (local matches) and is very comfortable to shoot, for me. The grip is nice but I am going to ditch the one finger groove sooner than later and stipple the grip. The frame definitely seems to mitigate recoil a touch better than a stock pistol, which it should being a bit heavier. All in all, I'm very happy with the pistol even in it's current form. Once I get the new top end tuned up and painted I'll report back.

  17. I would up with the Vogel Dynamics sights for my Glock. https://www.amazon.com/Vogel-Dynamics-Champion-Pistols-Including/dp/B01BLV1QQI I'm heading to the range in a few hours to test them out. The few reviews I found on them are positive with some reporting that the hits are slightly high. On the gun, they fiber optic is plenty bright in my dim basement. The rear is a nice shape and they seem to be pretty "findable" when I bring the gun up. Now I just need my holster...
  18. I have a buddy with an 07 FFL. He’s starting to build 1911’s, mostly in 9. Additionally, he wants to build AR’s both large and small frame. So he will be loading 223 and 308. He wants to get a machine that can do a fair bunch of all of those with a relatively easy swap between the calibers. He is saying he could get to needing 1k of each per month. What say the gurus of Big Blue? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
  19. Thanks all. You have no idea how helpful this is.
  20. This will have to do until the optics cut slide shows up. Way ahead of you @Paul49
  21. I'm starting to shoot a bunch of club level matches at a local range. It's pretty informal and the only thing anyone wins is bragging rights. It's a great place for me to start out as I like having a good time without all the pressure. ***Regardless*** I have a 17 slide that I stumbled in to. It has a set of older, pretty dim Trijicon's on it. I'd like to find a replacement set of sights that I can actually see with my sorry old eyes. Conditions are going to be almost entirely indoors (unfortunately). I will be shooting a mixture of steel and paper/cardboard. So, what do you have/use that works for you?
  22. Tagged. I'm a very casual competitor but am building a CO gun based on the ZEV MBK/OZ-9 frame as well. From my extremely limited base of knowledge it should be fine but... one never really knows.
  23. I had a set of Whidden 6.5x47L dies. They were incredible. The gun was an absolute laser. The ammo I built with those dies was awesome. I sold the rifle and the dies went as well. I'm bummed to hear that they're having some QC issues. I run Redding dies for my .223 FT/R rifle and am very happy with them. (I know they weren't an option). Midrange. Got me to Marksman first season. I didn't shoot last year as I'm concentrating on pistol right now for a variety of reasons. But the dies worked well for me. Everything rifle is loaded on a Forster CoAx. Good luck.
