  1. The rule is 10+1 per HQ for SSP. The rule is not clear, Division cap is 10, shooter starts with a round in chamber. It does not state you need to top the mag, or start with 11 in the mag for loading, is that ok, it would be over division cap with 11 rounds .. CLEAR is 10 +1 for loaded start. I have it now. The new rulebook does not state 10 +1. I am asking this because I am new to IDPA, just want to get it right. Mark
  2. I got a XDM 5.25 for IDPA, then added a Glock 17. Then got a M&P Pro 9mm like it better than XDM or Glock. I sold them and 2 M&P pro and a M&P Shield 9mm for carry. All 3 are great gun, the M&P just fits my hand better and I shoot them better. Mark

    Procedurals

The SO did say "you need to move" I thought I moved in time, The club was going to tablets for scoring that day. It was the first stage of the day, I was the second shooter, I guess too much going on for everyone. I will ask to see my scores from now on. I just thought someone would let the shooter know. I am new to IDPA (shot USPSA years ago) I am learning all the in's and out's. Mark
  4. In a match last week I received a procedural for not moving as I was shooting, I think. I was not told I received a procedural. I did not know I receved it until I got the scores for the match. Should the shooter be told he got a procedural? In other matches the SO or scorekeeper tells the shooter. Mark
  5. I'm going to ask what may seem like a very rude question... How good a shot are you? Can you shoot a USPSA match at a B level using something like Atlanta Arms ammunition? If you can't then you can probably spend all the time and money you want on a search for the most accurate ammo and still not improve your scores significantly. What does shooting USPSA at B level have to do with accruacy? When I shot IPSC years ago I was A class pushing Master hard, so I think my shooting is fine. Do you think you have to be a B class to shoot accurate? I have no problem with the load I am shooting now. I found this bullet combo when everything was hard to find. Just wanting see what other people are shooting. Mark
  6. Yes, I know I will have to find what will work for me . I am just asking what works for you. I am shoot a M&P 9mm Pro stock. Mark
  7. What is the most accurate 9mm bullet? I would like to stay with the 147gr range ,but what is the most accurate? I am shooting IDPA and USPSA. Mark
  8. I look in the rule book. Division Capacity is 10 for SSP. Rule 8.1.3.7 the shooter will also start with one round in the chamber. It does not say you have to top the mag off. For the new Bug class it 6 total, 5 plus 1 only to start. Would not the rules say 10 plus 1 for the others to start, if it was required. Mark
  9. In SSP the Division Capacity is 10 rounds in mag. You can start with 10 plus 1 rounds, If the stage says load to division capacity, but do you have to have start with 10 plus 1 or can you start with just 10 ? I shot a match Sat. and was some just loading 10. It worked best for reloading on this stage. I was this after I shot the stage. Mark
  10. I will be shooting my first IDPA match this weekend. I have been going over the rules. I have a question on a Reload with Retention. Where can I put the retented mag? Can it go into the vest pocket? Where is the best place to put it? Is it best to stow the mag first, then get the new mag, or draw the new mag first and change mags and stow? Mark
  11. I am a old time IPSC shoot 22 years back. I got out due to the arms race. I started with a stock Colt Goldcup, then to a custom 45, then to a 38 Super. I got out when I needed a high cap gun to stay in the running. This was before the added divisions of today. Alot shooters got out of IPSC at this time, it hurt IPSC/USPSA in the day. IDPA was born from this fallout, people wanted to get back to the roots of Defensive Pistol shooting. Now to my point, the life of any shooting sport, is NEW SHOOTERS, without them, it dies. If you have new shooters showing up with what they have, do you run them away from IDPA, because there , belt, holster, etc. are not legal. they can shoot in NFC. Let them shot, but know they will have to upgrade their equipment. I know rules are rules, safety is always first. Give the new shooter some slack. If the is new shooter gets pounded in their first match, they may not come back. That is the begining of the end. If USPSA had stayed with just Open, it would be dead. But, by adding divisions like Production , Singlestack and Limited 10. New and old time shooters like myself (with guns left without a place to shoot) have a place to go. Lots of my old UPSA friends are shooting IDPA ESP now. They started with the USPSA equipment and made the cross over. Give the new shooter some slack, they are the lifeblood to the sport. Mark
  12. Going to my frist IDPA match in two weeks. I have a Blade tech OWB holser with a Tek Lok and Blade-Tech Revolution Single Magazine Pouch with Tek Lok. Are Tek Lok legal to use, and are 2 single mag ok. Mark
  13. TBeazlie, Like others have said. Dry fire at a lower rate, not on timer. bring the gun to your face so you can see everything. pause see the mag go in. The speed will come. I have been out of shooing USPSA for 20 years and getting back into myself. I am running a M&P Pro, I do miss my magwell. Mark
  14. I got back into shooting Pistols last year. Looking to get into IPDA and USPSA Prod. I got a XDM 5.25 9mm. it shot very well. I wanted something for carry, and got a Glock gen4 17 added TTI sights and TTI 3.25 lb conector kit. The 17 shot better than the XDM, it stayed on target better due to the lower bore axis. So I started looking for a new Comp. gun. I was looking to got to one platform. I could go with a Glock 34 and share mags with the 17. The gen4 34 in my area cost $650 and would need sights, that would cost $100.00. I started at the Pro, it cost $590.00 and comes with good sights, that would save me $150. I got the Pro and loved it. The Pro trigger has a better feel than the Glock with the 3.25 conector. I had found my platform. I traded the XDM for another 9mm Pro and traded the 17 for a Sheild 9mm. The XDM and Glock 17 are great guns and worked 100%, but the M&P Pro fits me better, and I shoot them better. Mark
  15. I got a M&P Pro 9mm two months ago. After shooting the Pro, I went all M&P. I sold my XDM 5.25 and Glock 17, and got another 9mm Pro and a 9mm Shield. I will keep one stock. the other I will set up for Limited "minor". The M&P's just fit my hand better than the others. The apex should be the best trigger. After market barrels work the same a Glocks. The M&P 22 (22LR) is a great gun, and cost the same as most conversions kit. and work much better. it is a true trainer guns. The Pro Core is the way to go for RMR. No Safety for Pro's Mark
  16. I started shooting IPSC / USPSA in the late 80's. I those days everything was heads up, with Revolver only sub class. I started with a Gold Cup 45acp shooting to B class. 38 Super were coming in the picture, but still having problems with unsuported barrel. Then I had a 45 comp built, Then the suported barrel came in and the Super was King. I am 2 rounds down now. The matches were kept revolver neutral, that made thing close for all guns. Then you started seeing 10 round strings in matches. I was on to a 38 Super to keep up. Then the high cap guns enter the game. You started seeing 12 round or better strings. Now I am making standing reloades. I was looking at $3500 to build a High cap gun to stay in the game. Limited class was started, but everyone was building High Cap. I had stayed behind the game for 6 years. I WAS DONE, i sold guns and had rifles built. USPSA was lost alot of people at this time, due to the arms race. IPSC / USPSA had lost people right and left, they had to do something. To late to keep me in the game USPSA came up with the current classes for today. Production is a good class, you can take a factory gun and shoot. Limited10 was for the ones that had the old guns like me. Now to the topic. Then production was created, the high cap mag ban was in place, that is why the 10 round cap. I am looking to get back in the game. I have gone to the M&P pro 9mm, looking to shoot IDPA and USPSA production. Now they make high grade High cap guns. Now have to load only load 10 round, THAT IS WHAT TICKS ME OFF. I spent years running behind in round cap, now I have it, I CAN'T USE IT. Some have said shoot Limited ( minor ) Is this a classs? or my only choice, other than Production. I will shoot Limited and be behind again. I do understand the Prodction 10 rd limit, but we need a Production Limited class with 140mm mag. Mark
  17. Lior, I have 2 M&P Pro's and love them. Did you not like the Factory Novak sights? Do you want a smaller dot? I had a Glock 17 with Taran Tactical Innovations. The TTI's have small dot with room in the back sight..I gave up the Glock and XDM for the M&P Pro's. Sights are paired to match up for POA. You will have to see how they work for you. Mark
  18. I am looking to upgrade to a after market match barrel. I have the new barrels in my Pro's and they shoot great. I am looking to build a Limited gun for USPSA. What are the best After market barrels? Mark
  19. What is the best replacement barrel for the M&P Pro 9mm? Wilson, KKM, Stormlake, etc. Mark
  20. What coated bullets do you shoot in your Glocks? I run Falcon 147gr lead in my XDM & M&P. Falcon make a coated bullet, I have not tried them. What are you using? Mark
  21. GreenDragon64, You have some good info here. Take the equipment you have and start shooting, take some classes. it will take some time before your equipment could hold you back. Work on better handloading, Things you need to start, good accurate load, know your drop data, good bi-pods, strap-on cheekrest will help, then you are set. Go to matches and see what the guys are shooting. Precision rifle can be very costly, the sky is the limit. My back ground is long range benchrest 1000yds and 600yds. I ran a Egg Shoot match in Roanoke, VA. I have been shooting a local steel match Bangsteel.com. But my guns are setup for benchrest, but I put stud in the stock for a bi-pod, added a strap-on cheekrest and go shooting. Mark
  22. Has anyone tried the Falcon Coated bullets in your Glock. Do they work like plated bullets. Mark
  23. I have a new M&P Pro 9mm. The first time out I had one FTF. Out today I had a stovepipe, cleared it and had to bump the slide, to get it going. It is with the same ammo, my reloads 147gr Berry plated bullets. it may be too light of a load for the M&P. It runs 100% in my Glock 17 & my XDM 5.25. The M&P likes another load with 147gr Falcon lead with the same powder charge and will run W/W white box. I think it is the plated bullet load. Now for the slide dropping. It was dropped as I put a new mag in. it was not repeatable, but did it 4 or 5 times. I marked the mags and slammed them hard and could not repeat. Then another out of the biue. What do I need to look for? I don't like it dropping on it's own. What do I need to change? Mark
  24. I would like to get one for $350. I just paid $590 for a Pro 9mm, and it was the cheapest in my area. Mark
  25. I agree with Alphaseeker go with the 147gr less snap than lighter bullets. Mark
