  1. I have used silicon carbide, with great success. And now I’ve found a blasting media that is slightly bigger and made of metal. My grips are “Sticky”
  2. Oakley Tombstone, great for group shooting as well.
  3. No it doesn’t, not by a mile. But I’m very happy with the bag
  4. Hi guys and girls, can anyone tell me if the double alpha cleaning kit fits straight into either of the zip up sides on the double alpha medium rangepack? I have one ordered and was just planning on where things will go.
  5. Armydad , yes it stiffens em up really good. There's no flex in the JB weld.
  6. I've had my Silicone Carbide grip for over 12 months now. I used JB Weld and have had zero problems.
  7. Sorry, like a rubbing alcohol for you guys I suppose. Just something to clean the oil and grime off the grip. But not so savage on the plastic.
  8. No I didn't reduce the grip, I just preped the grip with metho then taped off my diamonds and STI logo with builders tape. Then trowled the JB weld in with one side of an art knife.
  9. No mate. My STI bottom end is 12 months old now, no signs of chipping or anything. I did my mag well too. And some has come off it. Because it was a painted shiny surface I reckon.
  10. JB weld is the go mate, and I got 30/40 grit from the States.
  11. Ok, so how often do you add the polish?
  12. On the glasses issue, I'm 46 and have 20/20 but when the eye doctor tried .5 ocular lenses on me it was like HD TV. In my shooting I'm "seeing" stuff but some of it is wrong. Like last match I backed up a perfectly good A with a no shoot, calling the shot high. And on another target I had 3 As touching. I prefer clear lenses as well to anything else.
  13. This is how I do it. I benchmark everything and have a range diary. As per Ben Stoegers book. When I got serious my ElPrez was around 9s and that was comfy for me, all As. So now im aware of my limit. I know my draw times, transitions , splits etc. so I'm out on the range training ElPrez I'll shoot a few 8-9s drills. Then set my par time to 6.5, expect some Cs and Ds and God forbid some mikes. But it's teaching me what I need to see and what this pace feels like. So after a few strings of this I'll go back to my normal speed. Then I find 9s is easy to do, so now my new benchmark is 7-8. So that's all documented and I repeat the process. Now after many months 6s ElPrez for me is achievable . Then I switch up to other drills doing the same thing. I train till the wheels fall off then back it off a little. A timer is your best training buddy, it highlights all the areas you need working on. Hope this helps.
  14. They are, without a doubt the finest looking pistols on the market today!
  15. this got me thinkin. I doubt silicone carbide would stick to a painted grip. And I too used to use Pro Grip but went to Rosin bags on EBay for more than half the price.
  16. STI gunsmith blank is a quick and easy way to go.
  17. Yeah for sure. My mate has a Match Master and it's pretty flimsy. No stippling, just a standard bottom end.
  18. Yeah I reckon it's heaps better. Lots more grip than stipple. I've done heaps of stippling jobs and it's not the same. Plus I'm not convinced it doesn't weakin the grip.
  19. 3djedi. I used 30/40 grit on eBay from the States, but I reckon you guys use a different scale. I would definitely go more course next time. asr1, I have thought of that too! You see it done on the aluminium bottom ends. Looks cool and should be real grippy.
