Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I only load 9mm for pistols with no problems but those same loads do not have enough pressure to operate the action fully on my UZI. I really haven't played around with my pistol loads but was thinking of just bumping up the powder load to near the high end of the load range. I use Accurate 5 and really don't want to have to use another powder for the UZI if I can help it. Any advice other than what I'm thinking? Thanks
  2. Once I got my LnL adjusted correctly, it has been working perfectly. I have the bullet feeder and case feeder, no problems with either of those. I laugh at the Dillion cool-aid drinkers, especially when I google "Dillon 650 problems" and come up with endless folks who have a wide range of problems with those. I was going to get a Dillon but the powder spill issue with 9mm was what made me choose LnL. I'm very happy with my choice, plus a couple of hundred dollars more in my pocket.
  3. Are you using a LNL? If so what caliber? Are you using a case feeder? My main problem is with 9mm. Yes, I use the LnL case feeder and only for 9mm. As i said, it's the only Hornady piece I never had or have any issues with, it has worked perfectly for me. I have no problems with the Dillon 650, but get peterbed at the blue cool-aid drinkers who make it appear that these presses have no issues when in fact they have many. One of the reasons I didn't go with Dillon was the many 9mm powder spill issues. I'm glad I went with the Lnl, once I got it set up correcly, it has done well for me. I realize people who went Blue like to defend their expense, but please, be upfront about their problems as well.
  4. Dillon makes good presses, but Google "Dillon 650 problems" and you'll find thousands of them. It is not immune to issues, primer explosions, powder spills, index advancing, etc, etc. I too had problems with my LnL, but all were set up issues. Once I got it working correctly, it works perfectly. I don't know why folks have case feeder issues, this was pretty much the only part I never had a problem with. BTW, there is a reason Dillion is known for great customer service, it;s because their customers needed to use it. I know BENOS sells the Dillon and of course he's going to push it, but please, it has it's issues as do all mechanical devices with so many moving parts. In most cases it's a timing issue.
  5. RTP, can you please show a pic of the primer tray you cut to put on the face of the funnel for 9mm. I'm not having any problems with drops but it would be nice to have banked in case I ever do. thanks.
  6. This is almost my exact set up for 9mm MG's. Except I use the powderfunnels.com PTX and the Hornady Powder Cop in 3. Works well for me too, no problem ever with seat and crimp together in 5.
  7. Those of us who are retired military had those "disparities" for 20 or more years Amen Brother. It always amazes me how easy some forget what we went threw for so long for the meager pension we get. Oh well another time, another thread. Brian generally ships cheaper anyway. Thanks to Dillon for offering to help the troops. Remember to keep it up when it is once again no longer cool to be in the military. Sad, but our own Congress and Senate forgot about all the sacrifices us retirees made, so they voted to reduce our cost of living increases and instead give our money/benefits we earned to illegal aliens.
  8. I still have my first Lee Handloader like your first pic from back in 79. I was a poor military E-4 back then, but remarkably could load 100 .357's to take to our range every week. I still have that thing, even though I no longer shoot .357. When I got my Rock Chucker I thought at the time, life don't get much better than this.
  9. You prob won't find too many with that setup especially since the Hornady bullet feeder is much much cheaper. On the Mr Bullet feeder site they say no springs, perhaps that pic you have is an older model. While my Hornady feeder is loud, it really works amazingly well and doesn't have to be jury rigged to work on the LnL. I usually turn it on during bathroom or refreshment breaks, so the noise doesn't bother me. As for being slow, only if you don't have enough bullets in the hopper. Still, I can't load faster than it feeds so for me, speed isn't an issue.
  10. I guess I'm missing something, why is a o-ring or washer needed for the shell plate? Mine doesn't loosen, are you not tightening yours enough?
  11. If the primer seater is dirty or has a flake of powder in it, it will catch the primer feeded as it's moving toward the primer tuber, when it catches it causes the wire to pop out.
  12. Are you really saving time having to load the tubes by hand one at a time? Seems to me same steps and time as just placing bullet on the case. I used the hornady bullet feeder, pour in the bullets, flick the switch and start pulling the handle. Now that's a time saver.

    No Choke?

I was duck hunting in the Aleutions, made my way to my spot, set out my decoys and me and my lab sat waiting for legal hunting time. Where I lived, the Bald Eagles would often swoop down and take a decoy only to drop it out of retrievable range after they figured out their new catch was just a piece of foam. It was customary to fire a warning shot to scare them away. So as usual, I aimed well left and fired. The Eagle drops like a rock. I'm thinking WTF, no way. Turns out my full choke had unscrewed and fallen out and I was on pure open cylinder. Way different pattern than a full choke.
  14. Good job! I have a 83 I shoot 95g montanas with 4.4g of AA5. Shoots similar.
