  1. I'm a flasher. I just don't do it with a raincoat on.
  2. How great for the both of you. How proud you have to be.
  3. I shot my first classifier after my 3rd match, just last month. I had been out of the competitive shooting for 18 years. Missed SS by 1.27 seconds. I had one PE for dropping a mag on Stage #3, shot my 6 on one side of the barricade then stood then and realized I had 6 more to shoot from the other side. Dropped the mag, with rounds in it, and shot from the other side of the barricade. A nice 5-6 second mistake. I had just put on some new sights and was shooting considerably low at 20 yards. Pretty much took out the down one below my POA. Oh well, I will try again the 13th of next month. Pretty sure it will put me up one classification. Looking forward to it.
  4. I've had the exact same problem. I never did find a cure. I hope someone chimes in with a fix.
  5. Let me preface by saying I shoot both IDPA, USPSA or any other type of shooting that can be done. Just read an article on Outdoor Hub and I believe he made some valid points (sorry I don't remember the author). He made the following points concerning IDPA being valid: Drawing quickly from concealment when a threat is presented. Maintaining trigger finger discipline. Thinking about what not to shoot at. Front-sight focus for first-shot hits. Quickly transitioning from one target to another. Maintaining awareness of what else is going on around you. What to do when you hear a “click” instead of a “bang.” Taking advantage of cover. The only two that are IDPA dependent are the first and the last. You can come up with your own list for USPSA by adding others. Do I agree with all the rules of both IDPA and USPSA? NO. The similarities of the two are what makes me shoot both. a.) You have a gun in my hand and shooting targets. b.) You get the opportunity to use the most lethal weapon you have, your mind.
  6. I went to fiber optics as well. I wear contacts though. I don't know why but it definitely changed things for the better.
  7. I have not seen it loaded in a 357 mag. But, 9mm and .38 special it works well. Reloading manuals or web site published info would be your best bet.
  8. Interesting. When I called and talked to them, they referred me to their FAQ page which has this to say: If you'd like to have your barrel reamed to your reloads we charge $30 (includes return shipping) Send barrels with detailed note and contact info to: Lone Wolf Distributors C/O Armory Dept 106 Shannon Lane Priest River, ID 83856 Did you talk to Dan? Did you let them know that the tight chamber is a well known problem? Show a little disgust. Not so much as to be a jerk, but disappointment.
  9. Top Notch CS @ LWD if they are opening these up to take care of their customers They aren't doing it for free. Don't know what to tell you. I had both of mine done in, one in the past 3 months and neither has cost me a penny, other than the shipping to them.
  10. Multiple threads on this exact problem. Get to Dan Shepard(call or email directly to him), the armorer/engraver at LW and he will get you squared away. I have sent 2 of my barrels and dummy rounds for both. After Dan got done with them, they both will feed perfectly. His email address is Armorer@LoneWolfDist.com

Bought a LW 17 slide and have run it about a year, absolutely no issues.
  13. 165PF IDPA Rules here: http://members.idpa.com/Content/Rules/g0hunysc.eoc.pdf
  14. I'd go with the CFE if for nothing else then the availablility of it over Clays.
  15. I would not hesitate get the #8 of red dot. Always servers me well.
  16. Another powder to throw in is HS-6.
  17. I have one of the G-Force rangefinders. I have used it for a couple years now. I also have a Leica 1000 and a Leica 1600. For the price that Cabelas has them for sale at, I would get one again. If and only if I don't want to spend the money on a Leica 1600. I have ranged tree lines out to almost 1400yds and Deer out to 1100. Realize that was in perfect conditions. I would trust the G-Force to 500 on not ideal conditions. The optical view is pretty good, the ranging button is a bit tough to press with gloves on. It has generic ballistic charts that worked for me out to about 600 yards, beyond that they started gradually getting further and further from my actual ballistics. The Leicas are better optically and give instant feedback on range. Not that the G-Force takes forever, but it is noticeably slower. The Leica also has a smaller beam divergence. Meaning, they will be more precise on picking up the actual target, and not the ground in front of the target. The ranging button is also quite a bit easier to use. Which is important when you are trying to be as stable as possible. I use the G-Force on a tripod as much as possible, since it has a place to mount it already included. The Leica adapter for a tripod is a seperate unit and around $80. When I go hunting I throw both the G-Force and the Leica 1000 in my bag. I take my dad most of the time these days, instead of the other way around. When I reach into the bag, either one works for me, and the other goes to my dad. No preference for hunting. Now for ranging targets for banging steel at distance. Give me the Leica 1600 every time. So for hunting inside 600 yards, don't hesitate on the G-Force. If you are hopeful of longer range, you better have something larger than a deer to range or step up in price considerably. Look around a bit and you will find them at least $50 cheaper at many online shops.
  18. Much appreciated Tom, and the nightforce probably should have shown me the price range you were looking for. My mistake there. You are dead on with the individual eyesight being a final determinating factor. Good luck with your scope decision. I personally don't see you beating the Nightforce. Let us know where you end up.
  19. Pretty sure nobody has said "almost as good for half the price". I gave another option that fit your criteria, which did not include a price range. Since price is not in the criteria, I will withdraw the PST as a likely answer. There are several better scopes that could fill your bill.
  20. No the PST is not as good as the HD. But for a whole lot less money. It's all relative.
  21. I have a Vortex Viper PST in 6x24 and am really enjoying it. It will meet all of your above stated criteria. Hard to beat the Nightforce, but for half the price I went with the Vortex on my last build.
  22. The thing I noticed that you did not list is anything to do with the trigger.
  23. Between 25 and 30 this year. Only about 20 last year.
  24. If you have to go single action to get the hit, go single. DA if not. Never pays to miss fast.
