  1. 6” barrel gives you a bit more room to burn powder and thus more velocity. That’s what I would do if it is gonna be a hog gun range toy.

But also try to shoot each one before you decide, or at a minimum hold each one at the gun shop to get a feel for ergonomics. I bought a slicked up Shadow 2 and sold it because the SP01 frame feels better in my hands and I shoot them better.
  3. Thanks for the input. I opted to not take the trade seeing as it doesn’t add much to what I already have. I’m really trying to steer everything towards the same P01 and SP01 frames for consistency amongst what I carry and shoot.
  4. I have an offer to trade into a CZ custom shop 75 Shadow Tac II. Already have a SP-01 Shadow and an SP-01 with soon-to-be CGW work, so is there anything that makes it worth owning the Shadow Tac 2 as well? I’ve looked around and there is not a lot of info on this discontinued model other than a smattering of high reviews.
  5. Hah, 22 posts in and someone finally asks the question. I’m very happily married, but dang pal, could you get your wife to talk to my wife and share some wisdom with her? In all seriousness, run that’s a grail gun for a lot of folks so go enjoy it.
  6. I thought Primary Machine only does Cerakote and Black Nitride. For DLC you have the following options that I've found, and I've researched pretty thoroughly: http://www.jabuie.com/ionbond.html Their price list is included in the link. You have the option of sending parts, or having them disassemble/reassemble. https://www.deeprivercustoms.com/gunsmith-services/refinishing/#.W5p99ehKiUk They will disassemble/reassemble for you. https://www.fusionfirearms.com/services/finishing-options/ion-bond-dlc Fusion Firearms, not sure about their disassembly/reassembly or any details with them. You will find several companies that perform DLC finishes on industrial parts, but not firearms. You will also find that most firearm specific vendors who offer DLC finish will send it off to be done, most likely to Jabuie in North Carolina. I suspect this is the case for Fusion, True Precision, and others. I'm on the fence about sending one off for DLC, but if I do it will be to Jabuie.
  7. Any chance this has made it into your hands yet? I'd be really interested in seeing a review.
  8. I recently picked up a unique pistol that is a Bull Shadow upper on a TS frame, done by the CZ Custom shop. Sweet SA straight trigger. It is my first CZ of any kind. 95% of what I shoot are 1911/2011s. Went to the range yesterday to shoot and instantly fell in love with everything except the point of impact. At 15 yards I printed my tightest groups ever, but 10-11" high. The rear sight is the fixed rear sight that is found on the Tactical Sport and doesn't have the option to be lowered, other than having a smith file it down. Front sight is FO, sits high as it is so I'm not inclined to find a taller one if there are other better options for bringing down the POI. Anyone familiar with this issue? Any helpful advice other than "aim lower"?
  9. Ah, thanks. They discontinued the Costa VIP at the end of last year right as I went to order one. Went with the DVC Carry instead and it has been great for me. Looking to sell a Trojan in 45 and an Eagle in 9mm and of course both have been discontinued for a while now, so it's hard to find comparable listing prices.
  10. What do you mean by "Timmy market"?
  11. I'm strongly left handed, but right eye dominant. First time I ever shot a pistol it was barely on paper and a quite embarrassing performance. After I figured out that cross eye dominance was the problem I just dry fired until the right hand felt natural. It also helps that my holster selection got dramatically easier. So, I'd vote for working on the gun handling so your left hand gets stronger until that feels natural to you.
  12. SJC Titan is extremely effective, but as mentioned above you'll want to double plug and warn anyone within 20 feet either side.
  13. Hey, you won't get any admonishment from me. I've screwed up enough stuff to learn my limitations and when to send something off to the smith...most of the time.
  14. Prices like that Gunbroker listing make me seriously question why I pick up and clean my range brass. Especially the outdoor stuff.
  15. Oh, and Wilson ETMs and the DW factory mags have each been flawless for me.
  16. I’ve never shot the RO, but I’ve handled a few and the DW is superior by more than $500 in fit, finish, bar stock steel parts, Clark ribbed and serrated top of slide, and barrel/bushing fit and lock up.
  17. I purchased a DVC Carry at the first of the year and when it arrived I discovered the front night site was dead. Bad lamp from Trijicon, not STI's fault, but how do you let that out of your shop without a visual check first? I called and addressed the issue with them and the CS was decent. I mailed in the slide, had to call and follow up because it took so long, then learned they'd done the replacement but it had been sitting on the shelf to go out for two weeks. The pistol itself is now flawless and shoots lights out. I really like the DLC finish which is wearing very well.
  18. Elftman match and JP single-stage triggers are in most of my ARs, but I definitely want to try the Trigger Tech.
  19. This is helpful to know. I have an STI DVC Carry that I'd like to shoot IDPA with, but assumed it was not legal for ESP.
  20. I'm not new to reloading, but am new to Dillon dies. I now have a 3-die set of Carbide Pistol Dies that came with a .38 Super I purchased used. In my first effort at depriming/resizing once-fired Starline nickel .38 super brass the carbide ring came free from the die and got stuck on the shell case after about the 10th cycle. I removed the carbide ring, put it back in the die with a small amount of super glue, and it promptly came free again within a few more casings. I've tried to research this issue and a fix and can't find anything. Carbide dies shouldn't require lubing cases right? Is the nickel the culprit? Seems odd this happened to me right at the start yet I can't find a similar experience on the interwebs. Thanks in advance for any advice or explanation you have.
