Got me a couple of tubes i want to modify and had a few "how-to" questions. Did you remove the aluminum inserts in the muzzle end? if so, i assume a heat gun to loosen up the epoxy?? Or did the earlier tubes not have them? What thread pitch rivet nuts? 10-32? What bolt on rails did you use? I assume those determined the hole spacing. I was also just curious about the history of them, how you came to make them for a certain unit. Ive seen earlier pics of ones with just a front sight pocket and some with a channel cut to slide the front sight in, no rivet nuts. I read the first ones were modified .308 tubes.

thanks guys...what other brand aluminum handguards were around back then?? also, does anybody know the I.D. of the hogue?

does anybody have an idea of what this handguard might be? time frame is mid to late 90s... thank you very much!
