  1. Advanced Weapon Technologies , Don Fraley. World class 1911's and accuracy to match.
  2. I have to agree with Ranger Trace. The 10.5 is for short work, but it would be fun to make the 600 yd shots. If it is your only weapon, then you should be competent with it, or as much as possible given what you have to work with.
  3. Was also concerned about the chrome lining in the barrel, glad to see BCM standing behind it.
  4. I can tell you from first hand experience that you will not find a better person on this planet to be taught the fine workings of a 1911 / 2011 . if my schedule permitted, I would be in the class myself. I along with Gary Stevens, Chuck Bradley of Shooters Connections , Layne Simpson of Shooting Times Magazine can only speak highly of Don Fraley. Don has been with the shooting sports for many, many years. Don has carried not only the top world class skills, but the world class ethics to pass on to others. Don has been there and done that. Don is a great shooter in his own right and knows what works in not only pistols , but also rifles as well. His custom prices are a steal in the current market . Jump into the class, you will not regret it one bit.
  5. I felt that it was a anti- PCC. There was also more unloaded starts that match than normal. Everyone had to start unloaded, at least that did not change. We all know that PCC is harder to load quickly compared to pistols being loaded. The club normally is a top notch club and gives the shooters a lot for their money. 100 shooters is not unusual with only 10 to 12 PCC shooters per match. It does have some national top shooters. I think if it was addressed that the match director would have stepped in.
  6. Just curious if it is legal. Hoping that it is not the wave of the future. The PCC shooters all started the same place, and I know that would be the argument. I just thought that all shot the same coarse of fire.
  7. I shot a match a while back, and the start location for PCC shooters was 10 yards further back than the pistol shooters. Same coarse of fire, just different start locations. Two separate boxes. PCC start box and handgun start box. Curious if it was legal.
  8. I shot in a carbine match this past weekend. I thought the uppers and lowers looked cool. What I had witnessed happen never crossed my mind as to the possibility of happening, but where else would it happen, only in a match. I noticed a round get hung up in a cut out place in the rifle and it cost the shooter valuable time, 15 to 20 seconds. I was surprised and it may never happen again, but it sold me on not getting that set up. They still look cool though.
  9. A second on Spinta. Great folks to deal with. and I think they have a sale going on now.
  10. Again, I wish I had my MPX back.
  11. Try the stippling, that is how I got started many, many years ago. The worst thing you could do is buy another set of plastic grips. That is how all of these other folks got started. No days, everyone is a pro grip grinder.
  12. If I understood the post, to many comps have come loose because of heat, I would hate to see a sliver of metal get lodged in front of a high speed bullet just to save money. Any smith worth their weight would not tackle that job. Just to dangerous. To many what ifs.
  13. I had both. I miss my Sig. I sold it because of college money. My AR is flawless, but the Sig was much better. I think the problems that you see about Sigs are from people pushing the limits to gain every advantage, which makes sense because it is racing. The Sigs were designed for factory ammo. Folks are running mouse fart loads, running the guns to dry. Keep it lubed and run ammo that is hot enough and it will be flawless. Mine shot factory Federal American 115 so soft that when I got it, I moved up in places in matches just because of the confidence that I had on hard or longer shots. It is that soft of a shooter. I only wish that Sig had better customer service for the shooters that help support them. I know that Sig is so big, that a few competition shooters does not mean a lot. I am looking forward to the new MPX "competition" that has been shown at the shot show.
  14. bottom line is that you need to give both guns a little trigger time in matches and use the one that you shoot the best.
  15. No one should have to be working on these to work. There has been a lot of documented issues with them not working , why ? I know that mags have different dimensions, but account for it in the production better. T/F owes it to the shooters that are keeping the lights on !
  16. Clean it with brake cleaner then lube it with Advance Weapons Technology's Extreme Force Lube. It is the best on the market. It is made by a shooter and a smith with true been there done that experience. Plus it is very reasonably priced.
  17. 115 Federal American Eagle. Shoots great in my rifle.
  18. Brian, you will busy in the woods by Oct. brother.
  19. Second for Brian Miller, a great guy to deal with.
