I have been listening to audiobooks as of late and struggling to find any firearms related audiobooks. I have currently listened The Gun by C.J. Chivers and Gun Baby Gun by Ian Overton. I greatly enjoyed The Gun with its talk on the beginning of the firearms industry within the US more specifically machine guns. Gun Baby Gun, however, is an entirely different story. I couldn't even stomach more than a couple hours. The author seems to place the blame for all the woes on the "destructive" nature of firearms etc. If anyone has suggestions I would love to hear them. Thanks!

So I purchased a Versamax Sportsman back in August and have put over 800 rounds through it and it will still will not reliably cycle shells (FtF approximately 75% of the time). I shoot sporting clays so I clean it every 100 shells (detailed cleaning of pistons as well). After shooting about 200 rounds I noticed there was a wear on the upper part of the chamber, but no noticeable wear on the bolt. I smoothed that out and haven't noticed that being a problem anymore. It seems to catch on the right side of the shell as the bolt tries to push it into place. I typically shoot multipurpose or target load 2 3/4 length 1 1/8 oz shot and 2 3/4 - 3 dram. I have tried heavier loads with mixed results. The specs on my shotgun include: 28 inch barrel Carbon Arms extension tube w/ upgraded spring ( I did not alter the spring length) CRums welded lifter Opened loading port I am about to the point of throwing this gun in the river and buying a Benelli. Any help will be appreciated thanks guys!

Thanks gents! I checked out the USPSA website and was looking through those clubs. Definitely going to check out Cavern City. You guys from around there?

I will be moving to the El Paso area and wondering if anyone knows of any within that area (1-2 hours away) I would be extremely appreciative. Thank you much!

Has anyone seen this new show called Cocked? Appearently Amazon Prime has released a bunch of Pilot episodes for possible shows. You don't need prime to watch the pilot so check it out.. I actually enjoyed it, but they need to get positive reviews etc to ensure they make the cut. It follows a firearms company (Paxson Arms) and their struggle to adapt to the changing consumer demands etc. It is a drama with comedic elements to it.

im going to have to pick up all these books! these posts have been really helpful.

Definitely keep it and it makes for a nice story. However, if you are still planning on selling it I would definitely not settle. It is a great looking knife.

how does that G34 work for you? I just purchased one and am trying to begin upgrading it and buying accessories. What is your holster? Any complaints thus far with the pistol etc.

Italian gun lube, Frog Lube and testing methods
ramms123 replied to DDustin's topic in General Gunsmithing
While I still use Froglube you definitely gave me something to consider...however, if you want a real good solvent for a good price you need to try Breakthrough Clean. There is zero smell and I have used it throughout my deployment and it stripped all the dirt and grime of near daily use (small arms range). -

i am so bummed that I couldn't attend that this year. It seemed like that would have been worth every penny! Glad you had a great time -
There is a steel challenge match in Copperas Cove, TX about 45-60min north of Austin. They hold those matches 2 Saturday of the month. Just google Copperas Cove Pistol CLub. Good luck!!

Just received the. NRA range book in the mail. Started going through some of it and it seems to have decent info although I would much prefer to learn this stuff through a conference setting.

Would love to help but alas I do not live I. Ohio...good luck!

Looking at starting a range and just curious if you all think this would be a helpful resource. Along the same lines would you recommend all the classes from the NRA and NSSF. I could only afford so much so which ones would be better?

I will give him a call and try to see what he used. Thanks!

That makes sense like the dedicated bays and never thought about running water at some bays, but covered areas for shade is definitely a must!

I expected we could use some program like Practiscore or something along those lines for certain competitions.

Understood, but the purpose of this thread was to give me insight to what people want or "need". We have a designated location and I am currently tryin to create a budget, but I want to make sure I am not missing anything before I formalize any plans. So for the purpose of this question money is no object.

Alright those make sense...good suggestions everyone!

Okay cool, being in the Army I interact with a lot of simulators and I would think that having one could bring a lot of revenue as well. What do you think?

After much talking my brother-in-law and I discussed the possibility of opening a gun range/club. It would include classrooms for FFL classes and othe various courses, but I wanted to pose a question for everyone. If money were no object what would you want to see in your ideal gun range? Or what would make a successful gun range?

Last Man Standing: Starring Tim Allen good clean show that actually leans along the right side of the political spectrum.

Stoeger m3000 24" plastic stock...2014 model?
ramms123 replied to mikeAZ's topic in Shotgun - Technical
Yea it doesn't seem to be quite the steal everyone says it is supposed to be...I have been looking since Pat first wrote that forum and I can't seem to find any decent deals on one of them at least in 26" and definitely not the 24''.
