I just sent you a PM Kurtm. I'm getting excited about this Socom!
-
I have a thousand or so 405gr Rem. FP and some 300gr HP that I use in my 450 Alaskan laying around I thought I would try. I also picked up a box of the 300gr TTSX. I have a 8 pounder of H-110 and Reloader 7 I figured that would be a good start. I was planning on putting my EOTECH 512 on it but I read they weren't holding up. I might end up putting a Burris on it instead.

I bet!! If you don't mind me asking JonKC what part of the country are you in. I would love to hog hunt someday but we don't have any here in Indiana but we do have plenty of deer I can shoot with it. What kind of accuracy are you getting?

I just picked up a new Rock River 458 Socom with CAR length gas system and 16" barrel. I would love to here about yours and the loads it likes.
-
^^^ Lol. I won't tell if you don't.

I have a wheeler Level level level and that's what I've always used but in some actions I don't think it sits flat.
-
That's a good idea. I've never heard of that but it makes sense.
-
Thanks Gene, that's the way I've been doing it. Just didn't know if that was the correct way or not.
-
How do you go about doing it Wild Gene?
-
Thanks for the great info. So put your rifle close to plum, line your cross hairs up with the horizon and attach the scope level?
-
I've been uses a Wheeler level level level for years but there has got to be a more precise way of doing it. I'm starting to shoot farther and want to make sure my scope is tracking straight or at least start out as close as possible.
-
That's awesome. Sounds like a shooter. What bullet weight are you running? The only thing I'm a little hesitant about is the 1-12 twist.
-
tjs375 what model SPR do you have if you don't mind me asking?
-
I had a Remington 5r several years ago and really enjoyed it. But then life happened and I started shooting more handgun sports and just kind of lost interest. On my 5r I had a Leupold VXIII 6.5-20x50 with a 30mm tube target nobs and side focus. I liked the scope but there might be better options for the money?
-
I have a CMC. For the money they are hard to beat.
-
I have a range that I can shoot out too a 1000 yards within 20 minutes of my house. I'm sold on a 308 because of the components I have on hand and the barrel life. I know the 6 and 6.5mm give a ballistic advantage but that's not what I'm after.
-
Thoughts and opinions on this rifle. I've been bit by the long range bug.
-
I also have no problems using super mags in my 9mm. I never like the spacers in the 9mm mags. That's how I got around it.
-
If you get a Leupold lens pen they work great.
-
That thing is prettier than my old lady. Just sayin!!
-
Damn you guys, I just spent how many thousands on a new limited gun and now I just want to get back in the safe and get out my revolvers. Good looking wheelguns fellas!!
-
Prebaned I with this thing had a LIKE button because I like your post!! Sounds like I need to call and get a adjustable block.
-
I'm with the green guys. I like it so much better than red. Seems to stand out better on all targets.
-
I have the same problem and I tore my 650 completely down and there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust it. Please let us know if you find a fix.
Does anyone have Experience with a 458 Socom?

Has you ever used any IMR 4198? I just discovered I have a 8 pounder and I think it should be good with the 405 Remington SP.
