  1. +1 for Tripp system (also heard them called “Corey” mags) that feature a 10mm tube with beveled plastic baseplate to be SS legal and still hold ten rounds. I use them for SS 40 minor but would also work for L10.
  2. Ho-Lee Crap….. 28 single stack shooters in the same time and place! SS is coming back

    Tinnitus hotline

There is a tinnitus hotline. I called. no answer, it just kept ringing.
  4. Xtreme and Blues are both closer to .12-.14 each.
  5. Negative…… I like what I’ve seen but I own several Dan Wessons. Two stock pistols and one from the DW custom shop. The custom is basically a Stainless Valor, brushed chambered in 40.
  6. Stan Chen makes some great looking guns.
  7. Just my opinion, but I find basic maintenance on 2011s to be pretty easy. if by “keep the gun running” you mean field strip, clean/lube, replace springs, 2011s are pretty straightforward. but, like any machine, the more you modify things to “improve” the experience/performance, the more you risk reliability, but that is true for all platforms. 2011s can be made to run well. There are probably more variables with the platform due to the volume of aftermarket parts and mods.
  8. If you are looking for waterproof, these have been quite good for me. It’s basically a trail running shoe, with super grippy rubber compound sole, and a bit more ankle support. https://www.rei.com/product/183605/la-sportiva-ultra-raptor-ii-mid-gtx-hiking-boots-mens?sku=1836050017&store=169&CAWELAID=120217890011624280&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=109205918125&CATCI=pla-444104428519&cm_mmc=PLA_Google|21700000001700551_1836050017|92700057791423050|NB|71700000074091789&gclid=CjwKCAjw38SoBhB6EiwA8EQVLoYv5SpMdvE-Va6bRwxfyhWZtA9VlvPDvnK5K-Sc6q4Hbc2tzXMjYBoCMGIQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  9. Red Hill Tactical holster, DAA racer pouch x 6 (can be oriented bullet-out if you like), Henning T1000 hanger, +1 Henning magnetic mag pouch. been through a few belt setups and this is by far my fave.
  10. Thanks @CHA-LEE I read one of your posts about testing barrel fit to make sure lock up was with barrel on frame and not relying solely on the link. this pistol passed that test. noted re checking out mags. The front that would contact the ramp all appear normal. appreciate the guidance.
  11. I recently acquired a 2011 as a backup gun from another USPSA shooter. It runs smoothly and feeds my reloads great at 1.15” while cleaning it after the first couple ranges sessions, I noticed that the bottom edge of the feed ramp overhangs the frame by a tiny bit. After measuring the barrel link, it looks like the PO installed a .283 or .287 link. I think nominal spec is .278”. the gun has fed reliably for about 500 rounds and the bullet tip appears to be contacting feed ramp in center. looking for advice from those more experienced than I am…. - run it and let sleeping dogs lie? - test a shorter barrel link? - any other considerations to be aware of? it just looks different than my other 19/2011s. thanks
  12. What bullet profile did it not like at 1.12”? I don’t think 14# recoil spring is too light, both of my 40 SS guns run like tops with 12# installed. Need to drop to 10# for minor loads.
  13. Necropost! Wow, that is a new record from the way-back machine.
  14. Yes, wish it were more subdued like the OG SSC. I’ve always thought that “less is more” when it came to branding on a slide.
  15. There seem to be a few camps when it comes to 40 1911s. Some say that 40s are a hassle, others say 40 mags are a hassle…… no doubt these opinions have a basis in personal experience. My experience with 1911s is that the platform can run reliably with the right combo of ammo and mag plus some smithing, if needed. I own two DWs in 40, use Tripp mags exclusively, load my ammo to 1.14” (not overly long) and both guns are super reliable. I use Tripp 9 and 10 round mags and they run equally well. I do replace the springs a followers every year if I’m shooting a lot. I used to have an STI and couldn’t get it to run with any combo until STI recut the feedramp. The point is that there are a lot of variables regardless of caliber. and yes, 40 minor feels like cheating. I switch to a 10# recoil spring and the sights come back down on target. Great for steel challenge.
  16. +1 for CFE 223 and TAC for use in progressive press. +1 for Hornady 55 fmjbt. loaded thousands of these for three gun.
  17. The other headstamp on these pieces of crap are “FM”. I think it’s the same manufacturer but assembled by Freedom Munitions. I bought some of this ammo from them and shot it only at lost-brass matches. Found about 5% bad primers. At least there were no squibs. yes, it is junk brass.
  18. I’ve shot a ton of xtreme over the last 5 years. 115 9mm and 180 .40. They have been consistently sized accurate enough. I prefer these in my PCC because they shooter cleaner than coated, but in my CZ and 1911, they have comparable accuracy to Blues.
  19. Yes- 100%. Loaded 10 per mag.
  20. Maybe increase the charge under your 165s to see if that is the issue and/or eliminate that the 165s feed any different than 180s. Different recoil spring? My minor load tracks the sights best with 10#. PF 131.
  21. I have two DW 1911s in 40 and they both run Tripp 10mm mags just fine. I ordered the 10 round 10mm Hybrids that have the front edge of the base pad ground to fit in the box. Major Ammo is 180 blue RNFP 1.15”. Minor ammo is 155 Berry same OAL and charge. I used to have the issue the OP mentions with <100% reliability when loaded to 10 in my 9mm running Wilson ETM mags with Dawson base pads. They would run great with 9 but not always with 10 which were crazy tight. I clipped a single coil from the mag spring and the issue went away. also, the OP doesn’t state if the minor load is the exact same bullet and OAL. If it is not, then bullet profile, OAL could be at fault.
  22. I’ve been running a T1000 on my belt for the past three months. I waited to chime in until I had shot a bunch in practice and at least 4-5 matches. as others have noted, it is highly customizable. I initially tried a few different positions and made some minor tweaks to get it sorted out. Mounted three o’clock, on the lowest rung, with a slight outward cant feels very natural. My first practice session I learned that I needed to torque the hardware just a little bit more than I thought to get the lock washers engaged. Since then, it hasn’t budged at all. my draw has improved and it has become second nature to get a fast, secure grip. I am a huge fan of this product. Today I shot a different gun with a BOSS hanger and I kept wishing I had the T1000 on all my belts. I will be ordering another one. Henning hanger FTW!
  23. I thought both my guns had 17# mainsprings installed. Could be that one was worn due to age: one is about 7 years old, the other is 5, although I haven’t shot much SS in about 5 years so the round count is relatively low (12k and 8k, respectively) will replace mainsprings at end of summer. In the meantime I know not to load more SRPs. Thankfully I found a stack of SPPs.
  24. On the first stage of the match last weekend I had a FTfire right after the beep. Cleared it and kept going. it took a little while to figure out what happened but I finally did. Background: I have two .40 1911s set up almost identically. Have shot them interchangeably for many years. But……I recently tested some new loads. Due to component shortages I loaded some 40 rounds with CCI sm rifle primers. At my practice session, I tested 30 of these with one gun but not the other. At the match, I accidentally grabbed one of the srp rounds to Barney up on the first stage. Turns out that my other 1911 does not have a hammer spring strong enough to reliably light off CCI srp’s. a quick session last week confirms that one gun fires them (so far) 100% and the other only fired about 50%. lesson learned: test EVERYTHING before a match and no two guns are Exactly the same.
