  1. For that I am indeed lucky and glad I stalked the squad list and could move when I did.
  2. I'm thinking of all the countless Prod mags in puddles in a few days.... Mine included
  3. My analogy was smaller, just centric to uspsa and the numbers of divisions within it. A pie graph with 6 slices, or divisions just looks better to some people than one with 10 slices in it. People feel if their slice is smaller, then someone else's had to get bigger and that naturally leads to unhappiness. Remember Buddhists? Comparison is the root of unhappiness. I wasn't referring to the place of competition into the wider gun and firearms culture. Which trends you're aware of and accurately interpretting. As an aside, I'd say this is because tactical/defensive crap can't really be scored or measured in the same way a match is. it's binary, success or failure. And it's often practiced alone in a bay or with very few people. A national org, with scores and classifications is a much better measurement of your overall ability with a pistol than just copying standards/drills/scenarios in a bay by yourself to meet some score another dude set in his own vacuum.
  4. I'll share my math with you and let you judge for yourself..... None of it is based off deals, or waiting or anything. Just simple searches and do it now, least effort. One thousand rounds of SuperVel 147gr 9mm before shipping or tax, $280. So we'll say 28 cents a round. Eley uspsa approved match ammo of 147gr is 40 cents a round. My very first press was a 1050. So we'll use that. And then you'll need all the dumb ancillary equipment for case prep and such. $3,000. Sport Pistol is $44 a pound at my lgs so at 3.4 grains per round, and 7000 grains per pound you get 2,058 rounds presuming zero wastage. 44 divided by 2,058... so that's 2 cents per round in powder?. 147 gr fmj Precision Delta bullets are $129 per thousand. Federal spp are $105 at natchez right now. We'll assume you get brass for free..... So your materials cost is powder 2 cents, bullet 12.9 cents, primer 10.5 cents. for a total cost of 24.5, or an effective 25 cents a round in costs. with free brass. So you're 3 cents cheaper than similar ammo you can buy. Divide 3 cents into the 3 grand of a reloading set up, and that's 100,00 rounds to make it up? Or two to three years of serious shooting? Compared to the Eley match ammo you save 15 cents per round. You make up the price of a 1050 now in just under 18 thousand rounds..... If you buy a 650 this changes how long it takes to make it pay off. But it doesn't change your material costs per round.... To me, compared to the ammo you like buying right now. What you actually buy and shoot with your own money, if you can't save at least 10c per round on that, it isn't worth it. Especially as most people are really not high volume shooters for more than a few years and then find another hobby.
  5. For fun I looked on practiscore at the pscl matches in TX. None of course are on a Saturday anywhere near San Antonio. But if there were, I'd try it.
  6. While I am doing 90 degrees and full sun practice sessions at 11am for the past two weeks...... I can't remember the last time I shot in the rain or temps below 50F..... Years? My pile of clothes for packing mimics an expidition more than a match.
  7. There is a natural feeling that the "pie" of uspsa is only so big. So that if you add more slices or make one slice larger it diminishes the rest. What might be better if there was more than two, viable, national pies to choose from....
  8. I'm glad matches have happened! Yeah for more choices. As someone going there this week, and who has never been there before, but I see rain in the forecast.... What are the bays like in the rain?
  9. The stock extended, CZ UB, one yes will fit. Aftermarket ones are a different story.
  10. And now who can deal with weather is going to come into play...
  11. Thankfully this match had no strong or weak hand in it.
  12. Watching staff shoot on staff day, so the swinger was observed. After staff left the stage, then the re-enactment began.
  13. He was challenging to RO because of how much the gun kept moving around. He eventually broke the 180 3 stages into the match.
  14. Two friends are walking stages before a match. They see what looks to them as a particularly difficult swinger. So without touching or activating or moving anything friend A goes to the position where he plans to shoot the swinger. Friend B goes to the trash and picks up an old target, walks down to where the swinger is, not touching anything at all, and proceeds to swing the shot up target from the trash around, mimicking the swinger for his friend to airgun. Is this legal? And yes, this is something that happened in real life.
  15. Bear in mind I've shot a lot, in a lot of places but I've never taken an RO class and stopped reading the rule book once they were no longer printed and mailed to us. Shooter has totally legal belt, gear and gun for declared division, set up what would look normal for a right hand shooter. At make ready command they do so as a right handed shooter would, but on the beep they draw the gun with the right hand and transfer it to the left, shooting the gun as a left hander typically would. When it's time to reload they switch the gun back to do a right hand reload, then back to the left hand for shooting. Beyond just being wonky, and when I asked why he did this he said he was left handed but could only borrow right handed gear for his first match, is this legal? My feeling is yes, but want to get the forum's opinion.

  17. Checking the Elo predictions I should be 46th and 73%. I'd like to be better than that prediction haha.
  18. My experience is with tac sports and even when the model was called an ipsc sports. The barrel just takes a ton of extra wiggling to remove and yiu might see more wear on it. I also don't know the depth of the insert on the cgw bushing vs a stock one. You could still tighten the fit between barrel and bushing but not have it extend as far into the slide. Having knocked out those bushing to get guns coated they were all like that.
  19. He wrote a big post on ig about how most shooters in the USA have no idea how good dudes are in other countries. Easy for US shooters to conflate a preponderance of gun culture with commensurate skill.
