  1. I adjusted the rod...ended up a little more then 1/4 turn and also snugged the shell plate a little. Mine seems good now as well Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  2. I guess my loading bench is cursed. Same issue with two different presses and two different sets of dies. Maybe I could get you to teach me how to pull the handle better lol. I made 600 last night for cowtown and had 75 not gauge. Hoping the new redding dies are the ticket. If not I'll try a push through sizer then last resort is new brass I guess.Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  3. I have about 10k rounds of brass I am working through. If I end up having to buy new brass to get this crap to work I might as well just buy factory ammo lol. Nickb, which brand of bullets are you using? I guess I need to try a different brand and get them sized at .400 instead of .401. Or go jacketed i guess.
  4. Ive ordered the redding comp seating die also. Last night I had descent success using the mbf funnel if I only belled just slightly. Just enough not to shave the coating off. Visually its hard to tell there is any bell at all compared to the cone shape of the dillon funnel. Worked the crimp in 1/8th turns until the round would plunk. I was getting about 2-4/100 that would not gauge last night. There is still a bulge beneath the bullet on one side of the case, but not bad enough to fail to chamber. Hopefully the combination of the dual ring sizer and comp seater will fix this.
  5. Also purchased the redding dual ring die to try. Perhaps if I throw enough money at this to build my own ammo manufacturing business I can get some good .40 rounds out of the deal.
  6. I setup my new 1050 last night. Using the mr bulletfeeder funnel. I tried the dillon sizing die and the EGW U die and still having a lot of rounds not chambering. They gauge fine upside down but are rubbing on the buldge right under the case mouth like in photos by Nickb45. Nick if you fixed your issue can you post a picture of your brass right after belling?
  7. Thanks. I will give this a try when I get home today. I assume it's just the difference in my primers and what ever the factory used to setup the machine. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  8. New 1050 out of the box today setup for 40. I am using CCI primers and they are not seating as far as I would like. I read the manual...googled....looked on youtube. It is late and I am tired but I can not find what you adjust to set the primer seating depth....
  9. Anyone tried one of these DAA adjustable thumb rests? I have a slide stop rest now but this one looks cool since its adjustable. http://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/Double-Alpha-Adjustable-Thumb-Rest-P886.aspx
  10. ive been loading 9 for a bit and have not had a chance to try the funnel yet. I will let you know how it goes.
  11. Sorry to hijack your thread but has anyone ordered the 180 40's in .400 and can confirm they measure .400? I have been getting .401s and having trouble with them bulging my cases and ended up with a lot of rejects. I have tried everything...next step is to try the smaller bullet or a different bullet.
  12. I use the same shell plate and number 3 locators for 9mm and don't have any trouble. Same brand of bullets Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  13. If I push around on the tool head there is slight movement...very slight. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  14. I ordered the kit from brian. How can I identify the shell plate? The locator pins are number 2 Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  15. I made another 400 last night. I started by loosening the lock ring on all the dies. I had a case in each station and raised the ram and then tightened down the lock rings. I ran the press slower than usual and ended up with 20-30 that wouldn't pass the gauge and 4 that wouldn't chamber in the barrel. I'm still getting a bulge on one side of the case but not as bad on as many cases. I had about 5 times where the primer got seated side ways and a few times it wouldn't pick up a primer at all. Not sure what's up with that. I cleaned the bar and replaced the seating assembly from the spares kit and it ran well after that. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  16. I just ordered the powder funnel earlier this week :/ Mine all gauge fine upside down, I think the bullet is not seating straight or the brass is weaker on one side of the casing which results in the seating pressure pushing the bullet out more on one side of the case. From what I have read brass is not going to have uniform thickness, especially once+ fired range brass. So we are shoving this bullet in there and the weakest/thinnest part of the wall gives and the bullet pushes out causing the bulge and seated bullet that is not straight. I wonder if going to a .400 instead of the .401 would make any difference? With the U die sizing the case down tighter using a smaller diameter bullet may help? I measured the bullets and they all measure .401 out of a dozen or so I measured. I tried blue bullets and the coating they use is not as good in my opinion. After loading my hands are blue and there is blue stuff in my seating die. I have never had that problem with ibejiheads. I know there are many others out there as well that may be good.
  17. I have read some others having a similar issue. some say the lee FCD helps remove the bulge....others say dont use the FCD.....some say get a better seating die like the redding.
  18. I'm wondering If the u die is the problem. I got the u die because I didn't want to mess with a bulge buster. I'm now seeing split cases after seating....I have never seen a split case before the u die. I can carefully set the bullet as straight as possible and I still get the buldge. I have tried little flare to a crazy amount and it doesn't seem to help. Maybe this stepped Mr bullet funnel will help. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  19. Out of 500 tonight I had 150 that wouldn't pass the shock bottle....out of those 20 wouldn't chamber the barrel. Don't know if 20 out of 500 is acceptable or not. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  20. It is range brass. I switched the stem back to round and that seems a little better. They do chamber. But you can see and feel a slight buldge that's only on one side of the case below the bullet. Doesn't go all the way around. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  21. I've messed with it for hours tonight. I've got it passing the gauge and barrel plunk but it's still bulging behind the bullet on one half of the case. I'm making sure the bullet is straight before seating. Frustrating. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  22. Which side of the seating stem do I use? The one where the bullet reaches the bottom or where it sits on the rounded part of the bullet? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  23. Thanks. I started doing the wet tumbling so I wouldn't have to mess with the corncob/walnut and the dust and mess associated with it. I would hope to not have to start doing that again. I tried polishing it up with 1k grit sandpaper but that didnt help. Thought about pulling it out and polishing it with a dremmel. I also ordered one of the mr bulletfeeder funnels to see if that helps any.
