  1. Its not about being popular, its about winning. I have seen comments from people that have run stats for USPSA Major matches including nationals for over a decade. You cant be fast enough to make up the points your missing out on. Here is a comment from a gentlemen that has run stats for over 17 years "You can't be fast enough to make up for the points lost. I've run the data through EzWinScore multiple times after a match to see how it would have impacted the results. Minor always loses." The slight difference in capacity and slight reduction in recoil is not enough to compensate for those B/C's and occasional D's Since glock only had 10% of the share at last years limited nationals I don't think that would be the popular choice either.
  2. Just look at the equipment surveys from limited nationals. If there wasn't a benefit to shooting 40 you would likely see a more even distribution between 9/40 but instead you see more than 95% shooting major. .
  3. 2011's just feel better in the hand...especially with metal grips. I like the heavier gun and they have the best triggers. My 4k dollar guns make me shoot better. At least thats what I tell my wife. I would say shoot what ever makes you feel the most confident. I dont like the feel of a plastic gun. I think you would need to be a deathstalker before you could actually prove match time/point benefits of either platform.
  4. I see no point in cleaning the barrel as the barrel gets "cleaned" every time a round goes down it. Unless your shooting raw lead bullets. My 2011's get field stripped and cleaned before every match. I prefer grease rather than oil so I remove it all and re-grease. I will do a complete tear down once a year unless I run into some sort of problem. If I am shooting a multi day match I field strip, clean and re-grease after the days match.
  5. Can you explain more about this mental thing your doing?
  6. Never heard of coaches eye...just looked it up. How would you use it for shooting? The side by side video's sound like a cool tool for comparing your run to someone else.
  7. Thanks Brian. I white listed the iP and I am getting notifications now. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  8. I put a Dawson rear with brazos front on one novak cut gun. They don't make the manny dot in novak but I think they have one called a micro dot. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  9. Ah sorry! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  10. Brian, Can you PM me the IP address and domain name of the mail server relaying mail for the forum? 554 is a spam rejection from my macafee spam filter but its a flat out rejection....no quarantine. Possibly no SPF record for the domain?
  11. I have had guns built on CK frames. No problems. If you want the CK grip it comes with backstrap and magwell making a reasonably priced option. The new PT grips look nice though.
  12. best combo I have found is SV competition rear with the Manny dot front. The wilson .090 rear pairs well with the manny dot front also.
  13. Im seeing a similar issue with my SV. I just got the gun back from SV about a month ago. New extractor, hammer, springs, sights, safety. I have about 1.5k rounds on the gun since the rebuild. The slide doesn't go all they way into battery and the extractor is not catching the case. If I drop the mag and pull the slide back and release it will catch and go into battery. I tried removing the extractor to see if it already needed cleaning but I could not get the plate/firing pin stop removed to get the extractor out. I load long 1.21 with 180g blue bullets. I know nothing about tuning the extractor.
  14. Mine does have the SV extractor...sad thing is its only a few months old. I have maybe 1.5k on this new extractor.
  15. Well actually if someone posts in a forum I am following, while I am logged into the site, I get a sound and a black box at the bottom of the screen for a short while notifying of the post. But no email like I used to get.
  16. Im not getting any email notifications to followed forums or followed posts. I get a notification in the notifications section of the site if someone quotes me but thats it.
  17. I've decided to bring my log back from the dead and give it another go. This October will be my 1 year anniversary shooting USPSA. I've received a lot of help from people on this forum. I've been bit hard and gone from shooting factory ammo out of an XDM to loading on a 1050 and shooting an SV. I've gone to two of Ben's classes. The last two months I have stuck with a committed dry fire plan vs my sporadic dry firing in the past. I'm shooting live fire practice at least once a week with a friend. I have shot 10 classifiers to date and as soon as the payment is received for the area 4 championship classifiers I will finally get out of C class. Many advise to not worry about classification but its a part of the game I can not ignore. Its a way for me to compare myself to everyone else and while that may be good or bad its always something I am looking at. In my mind if I am not competing then whats the point? If there were no matches and no one to shoot against I wouldn't be shooting. I recently won C class limited at the area 4 championship and at the new mexico sectional. It was not as fulfilling as I thought it would be. Im looking for the Top 5 overall limited finishes at majors. Winning C class at matches is hopefully just a stepping stone to that goal. From my first match last October, shooting IDPA style slow and throwing mikes to now placing well at majors feels good in that at least I can see improvement. The hard part is to accept the fact that I am going to have to keep putting in a lot of work to only gain 10ths. I think the big leap of improvement is over and to move into A class and beyond is going to take refinement and improved execution. Im now in the hunt for that 2 second improvement per stage. The areas of my match game that I know need improvement are movement, transitions, giving steel more respect and hustling while executing the stage plans like im on autopilot. For classifiers my weak hand game has got to improve. 7/10 classifiers I have shot have included weak hand. In those I shoot C class scores. In classifiers with no weak hand I shoot A class scores. It doesn't seem fair that I am classified based on a part of the game that is rarely seen at matches, but it is what it is. I am dry firing weak hand every day but I am still pulling shots low right weak hand in live fire. Here is some video from Area 4. Any comments are appreciated.
  18. If your shooting limited you can start cocked...so no need for the DA pull. In dry fire slap the trigger hard...because thats whats going to happen in live fire. Ive never dry fired a DA gun. When I dry fire my 2011 I dont mess with cocking the hammer...just slapping the dead trigger is enough. With a 2lb pull the hammer doesn't make much difference. I am not sure how you could make a DA trigger "dead" for dry fire. Maybe there is a way to keep the hammer cocked with a rubberband or something?
  19. Ive been seeing the occasional issue as you describe. Shot a 600 round match with one failure, was weakhand shooting though. Shot another match the next weekend about 250 rounds without issue. Yesterday had a round with the exact same problem as you. I will check my feed lips to see if they are all still in spec.
  20. 4.6g with 180g blue bullet at 1.215 oal out of a 5" SV with AET barrel. Makes USPSA major PF, though just barley at area 4 since they weighed my bullet at 178g.
  21. You can export the video to a PC or whatever after you tag everything in the app. But I really wish it was on android as well.
  22. 40 major if you want to win. 9 if you want to shoot a little cheaper and just having fun.
