  1. Why didn’t anyone start with their hand gripping the gun, ready to yank it out of the holster at the beep?
  2. for me it was faster grabbing the optic. Kind of like having a slide racket on an open gun.
  3. so, I tried it last month while practicing an unloaded barrel start and it was MUCH faster using the dot over the front serrations to rack the gun. I also didn’t have to worry about accidentally sweeping my hand while grabbing the slide. I doubt I’ll do it all the time, but I will certainly give it more consideration.
  4. The Vex trigger shoe is a game changer when you add it to the GPT. I know some folks don’t care for it, but it really shortens up the pre/post travel. I just ordered a second one for my backup from these guys: https://rangerproofswag.com
  5. Yo, @Sigarmsp226 you get this installed yet? Looking for updates as I think I’m going to order one of them this weekend. Just not yet sure which one. Thanks.
  6. It seems lately (about 1,000 rounds or so) I’m liking the Glock Performance Trigger, with a JG Vex trigger shoe. This combo feels good, and I no longer worry about light strikes since I can use the OEM striker spring without it affecting the pull weight.
  7. Thanks, I forgot about him. I passed the info along.
  8. Lol, that’s what I said. I even offered to give him my old Jerry Miculeck dvd on S&W trigger jobs. He doesn’t have the time, so he wants to send it somewhere and let them do it.
  9. A buddy of mine tried to install an Apex hammer in his 929, and now it’s in a bunch of pieces in a ziplock bag. He now realized he is way over his head. Just cuz you can shoot it doesn’t make you a gunsmith, even if you do happen to own a dremel. He’s looking for a good gunsmith to finish the job and put it all back together for him. Any recommendations? Thanks, Cuz
  10. The good news is that Glock mags are reasonably priced. If you have 1 mag that’s acting up, I’d toss it in the spare parts bin and buy 3 more new ones, and not give it another thought…
  11. I’d love to have times like that.
  12. Thanks, I wasn’t aware of this one. Although, I think it needs a bigger center dot.
  13. I thought the circle was 32moa??? what model has an 8moa circle?
  14. This, +1. I've been using the AnyList app for years. I'm to the point where I have a list for matches, one for practice, grocery list, you name it, I probably have a list for it. https://www.anylist.com/
  15. I have no idea, but I bet it’s in the 4-6 week range. They did my last one about 18 months ago, I don’t remember how long it took. Time isn’t really an issue for me as I already have my primary G17 and a G34 as a backup. This one will be setup to replace the backup 34 with an identical 17 to the one I shoot now. I don’t like the 34 because it’s an MOS. I’ll end up putting a set of Sevigny Competition sights on it and one of my kids will shoot it.
  16. I don't think so, mine are both red. My problem with the 407k was the thick border around the optic, the Shield is probably less than half as thick. I also couldn't get used to the fixed brightness. Manually adjusting the dot brightness is fine on my competition guns, but on an EDC I want it to auto adjust. I moved one of my 407K dots to my Sig P322 and it is great on that gun. Quite a fun range toy for sure.
  17. This is no longer an issue for me. I’ve moved on from the 507 Holosun series. I’ve migrated to SRO for competition and the Shield for EDC. I did keep the 510c on my PCC. I will add that it would have been nice if the Shield optics would have fit on the Sig and Glock slides I had milled for 407k optics. Now they are somewhat useless.
  18. Thanks, but I wouldn’t want to carry that around. I need wheels.
  19. I decided to go with BattleWerx, again. They are not the deepest, and there are many places out there to choose from, but in the end, it was logically an easy choice. They did my primary gun about 18 months ago and I’ve been very happy with it, so I want my backup gun to be set up the same way. Just waiting for them to have a sale on slide milling before I send it off…
  20. Haven’t we already proved conclusively in other threads here that all slide mounted red dots suck and will fail eventually. It’s just a matter of when, and that “when” is different for everyone. There isn’t a red dot out there that hasn’t failed yet for someone. Maybe a bad batch was made during covid and they are failing a bit more often?? I think it’s more important to pick a dot that you like and works for you, from a reliable manufacturer, and then get a 2nd one to mount on your backup gun so you’ll be ready when your particular dot fails on you. Hopefully it will be in a practice session rather than a match, since you “should” spend more time practicing. For me, I went with a 5moa SRO, on a milled slide, and don’t regret it for a second. And yes, it broke when I went to change the battery, turns out the tiny battery contacts broke inside. Trijicon replaced it without any issues, but the whole process took a month. No biggie, because I had a spare to use in the meantime.
  21. I’d like to see some pics. I agree with the less is better concept. I would add a backup gun to the mix as it’s easier than. Needing any parts. I like the idea of a rolling hard case just because it keeps your stuff dry in the rain, and doubles as a seat, but Stanley stopped making the one I liked, and I’m in need of something. Also, as I get older, carrying everything takes a toll on my body and wears me out sooner.
  22. Trijicon SRO. I updated the main post to include that. thanks.
  23. So, after some email and internet searches, I’ve found: 0.160” deep for Maple Leaf Firearms. 0.150” deep for BattleWerx. 0.125” deep for Jagerwerks.
  24. There are lots of places that mill Glock slides for optics. I’m wondering who makes the deepest cut to lower the optic as much as possible. I will mill my slide in a race cut fashion all the way back, so there will be no sights installed on the slide to worry about. I currently have a slide done by BattleWerx which I like, but before I send them another one, I figured I’d ask here to see if anyone does a deeper cut. Edit: The milling will be for a Trijicon SRO optic. Thanks, Cuz
  25. @shred and @RangerTrace, Thanks for the info. I doubt I’ll be hard chroming my Glock anytime soon, but I’ll give it some thought for my blued STI Eagle to keep it from rusting in the safe.
