  1. it’s nice that you keep yearly totals of the rounds that you load…
  2. I’ve been running one since they came out. I have a Vex trigger shoe on mine, and I like it a lot, no issues at all, and haven’t cleaned it since the install. My backup has an Apex which I also like a lot, but I have more confidence about ignition with the full power striker spring in the GPT. I run a much lighter spring in the Apex.
  3. Can’t argue with any of that. I got my 550 back in the 1990’s, and when I upgraded to the RL1100 just for 9mm a couple years ago, I kept the 550 for all the other calibers.
  4. That’s because she thinks you should buy the Dillon RL-1100. Then, next year you can automate it…
  5. Understood, but the app is the reason I originally bought the chrono, so the app is important to me, and essential to my use of the chrono. Maybe that new LabRadar chrono mentioned in another thread will have a better app and I'll switch gears and go in that direction.
  6. Well, for one thing, it would make it a $1400 Glock instead of a $1200 Glock... Might as well send it out to get milled, and put an optic on it to bump it up another $300 or so.
  7. I've been delaying my next chrono session in the hopes they come out with another update. I figure I can wait another month or so before I really need to chrono some ammo.
  8. I've been using my trigger finger to hit the mag release all my life. First on 1911s, then on 2011s, then (and currently) on Glocks. I thought about switching the mag release to the other side when Glock first came out with the option quite a few years ago, but it just didn't feel right, and I was worried that I might "forget" to take my finger off the trigger and get myself DQ'd. Yeah, I have to break my grip a bit to hit the release, but I'll never get DQ'd for having my finger on the trigger during a reload. I'm not worried about what method is faster, I'm only playing these games for fun, and am too old to start changing my ways now.
  9. That’s awesome Squirrel, what a great way to start the new year! Hoping to run into you on the range when Springtime rolls around.
  10. Thanks, right now it’s just laughing at me from across the room. I need to get my butt in gear soon, or I’ll have to shoot factory ammo when the spring season gets here.
  11. Damn, you guys have me thinking I should take my auto drive out of the box and install it on my 1100. Now that the 2 year warranty has expired I suppose it’s safe to deploy. But first I gotta give my press a good cleaning, but before that I need to clean enough of my loading room so that I can get to my press to clean it… It seems precision rimfire “stuff” has sort of taken over my loading room lately.
  12. Every time I try to do something like that I fail miserably. Now, rather than have a couple of rounds to spare, I pick a spot for a planned reload, even if it happens to be only 3-5 shots into the stage.
  13. I would toss out the powder and not give it a second thought. The value of the powder you are tossing out is chump change compared to the value of your gun, or to yourself if you end up having an accident during the separating process, or when shooting the ammo loaded after you "thought" you successfully separated it. There's just too many things that can go wrong for me to take the chance, but then again, I tend to be very risk averse. Good luck.
  14. Interesting, I wonder which one is better from the shooters perspective. There seems to be a decent following of aftermarket parts showing up, I wonder if they will fit both versions???
  15. This is pretty much what I tell all new shooters when they ask me about buying their first pistol. They always want centerfire. I tell them to price out about 3,000 rounds of ammo for the caliber they want, and bulk rimfire. Then show them that they can buy the rimfire ammo and the gun for less than the centerfire ammo, and the first 3k of ammo will be just for them to learn how to shoot, etc. so it doesn't matter what caliber.
  16. Currently at v1.9.44 yesterday I told my phone to check for app updates and Digital Link came up as having an update. My OCD makes me update all apps at least weekly, usually much more often than that.
  17. Looks like there was another update to the app in the last couple of days. Has anyone tried it? Really hoping it restores functionality back to "normal". I don't plan to chrono anything until just after the New Year, but I'd like to know if I should be looking forward to it, or dreading it...
  18. I think I would just buy a 2nd setup for my winter home.
  19. I’m curious why anyone cares at all what you have in your gun. They should worry about what they have in their gun, and let the results decide…
  20. I'm not sure you can use a gen3 guide rod in a gen5. I ended up buying a Carver uncaptured guide rod for Gen5 that lets me use traditional gen3 recoil springs.
  21. I have also had very good results with the Taylor Freelance Goliath mags. You need to follow their short video about how to prep them, and also keep your cartridge OAL under the size they tell you not to exceed.
  22. lol, it never even occurred to me that you could use this chrono without the app.
  23. Not necessarily, because it connects via Bluetooth, through the app. the app update has made my ProChrono virtually useless and has me shopping for a replacement. I am very unhappy. This used to be an awesome chrono & app combo. Now, it just plain sucks.
  24. Another vote for the Gen5 G17. When I switched to carry optics last year the G34 just didn't feel right with a dot on it. I tried a Gen5 17 and it was perfect. It's the only centerfire pistol I've shot for the past year and I love it.
  25. Yup, for the past few years the matches are more of a social shooting event for me, which keeps them fun. I get to hang around and shoot with a bunch of buddies. Doesn't get much better than that. I NEVER do any dry fire practice, and my performance shows it, but I don't care because it's all just for fun these days. But, if USPSA isn't doing it for you. Grap yourself a shotgun and try Trap. I started that last year and I had no idea how much fun sucking at trap could be. Or, build/buy yourself a precison rimfire or centerfire rifle and start shooting that? It's all about the shooting, not the competing. And, yeah Shred, I know this isn't directed at you, it's for the OP, but I just grabbed your post to reply. I guess I suck at forums too, but this place is still fun...
