Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. So I got to test my Caldwell chrono the other night - using the IR lights - was indoors. Everything worked fine - almost too easy - using my iphone to record data. I ran some WWB first to get a baseline - this usually produces about 134-135 PF out of my g34 I also ran some of the last batch I did on my 550, and a couple of batches from new 650, the 2nd load having very slightly higher charge (because I was too lazy to fiddle with powder measure ;-) All 8 rounds though g34 WWB 115gr ?? ?? avg 1233.4 SD: 24.5 550 124gr 4.8gr WSF avg 1088.4 SD: 24.7 650 124gr 4.8gr WSF avg 1102.2 SD: 17.9 650 124gr 4.85gr WSF avg 1105.4 SD: 15.6 all wonderful, except that avg speed for WWB is high by probably 50fps compared to what I've seen at matches, but there the temp is probaly 70-80 degrees compared to 60 the other night. Interestingly the only time the above load has been chrono'd at a macth ISTR the avg speed being as above about 1088 and made PF 134 or 135. Question is, can I usefully relate my results above to what I can expect at a match (same area).
  2. Mine arrived today - also from amazon. The box did not appear particularly well sealed, but everything inside appeared new. I tested it by flicking a flashlight beam across the sensors - I was able to get it to read 9-13 fps ok Plugged it into my iphone - app worked a series of flashlight passed averaged 10fps with SD 1.5 ;-)
  3. Thanks! I was just planning on hunting down that article again... it was very useful.
  4. My coat hanger fu must be weak. I could not get that to hold back the index arm, while still allowing the press to cycle, the wire interfered with the indexer - felt like something might break. I resorted to removing the indexer.
