Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I use Garrett Silent thunder champion holsters for IDPA as well as every day concealed carry. I have 3 for the 1911 and 2 for 9mm Glocks (34 and 17). They have a nice smooth draw and can adjust for the cant you want. They are the best of both worlds, leather lined and kydex frame. The customer service at Garrett is second to none. They do what it takes to make the customer happy. I have used many holsters and by far Garrett are the best. My holsters are real world tested and pass with flying colors. Also, I use the triple mag pouches, it really is nice having a third mag on your belt, especially for the 1911 mags. Ron and Sheryl Garrett are great people, they go above and beyond helping the customers.
  2. Just want to thank everyone for the great help. I loaded up 230 grain Rocky Mountain Reloading plated bullets, used Winchester large pistol primers, went up to 4.7 grains of Hodgdon Titegroup, shot out of a Springfield Armory Pro (PC9111) with a 5" barrel. I experimented with OAL (1.265 got me 746 fps average, 1.258 got me 756 fps average and 1.250 got me 772 fps average). My lowest was 738 fps, 740 fps and 758 fps with the longer to shorter OAL. I just need to make power factor in IDPA at 718 fps, so those number should be ok for meeting the criteria. Again, just want to say thank you for all the help on here. Other websites treat you like an idiot when you ask questions, so being new to reloading it is discouraging getting put down when asking questions on other forums. I appreciate everyones help on this forum.
  3. I am new to reloading. I loaded Rocky Mountain Reloading 230 gr. round nose plated bullets with 4.4 gr. of Titegroup. I used a Springfield Armory pro (PC9111) to chrono these rounds. I was shooting between 620-640 fps. I need to go up in powder to make power factor for IDPA, which would be 718 fps or higher. Any ideas what to increase to? Also, if I would crimp a bit more, would that give me more pressure to increase the feet per second (my crimp diameter is 0.471)? How about bullet seating decreasing the OAL? My OAL is 1.265. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
