Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I lurk here alot. Never post much. Just wanted to hand out some praise to Bayou. I had a question about some 9mm 115gr RN that I have been reloading for a few years. Went to the Bayou web page and left a message using the CONTACT US form. Provided my email and phone number then hit the SEND button. Within 10 minutes, Dennis from Bayou was ringing my phone. Had a great conversation. Very knowledgeable and helpful and asked me to contact him in the future if I had any further questions. Many are quick to post something when they are dissatisfied or have a bad experience so thought I would try to create a little balance and hand out some kudo's to the guys and gals at Bayou.
  2. I got it to work. If you look at the first picture I posted, I mentioned that the bottom of Station 1 looked a little It was made different. well, upon further inspection, it looks like it wasn't "made" this way but the tool head got dropped or something. So what happened is that the last few threads on the bottom of station 1 are a little "screwed up". So I took a wrench and put a little muscle to the die and gently forced it to thread down to the depth I needed it. Was hesitant at first to do this because "that ain't the way it's supposed to work" but figured that was the only choice I had. Luckily it worked. If you look at the bottom of your tool head you'll see that the metal there is a little thin and could get dented if dropped or something. I bought this machine used so I'm guessing that is what may have caused the issue. Just mentioning this as a word of warning to fellow Dillon users. Thanks to all for the help and suggestions.
  3. So here is what I tried 1) will a different die other than the sizing/depriming die screw all the way into station 1? Yes, other dies will screw all the way down as far as you want to go into station 1 of the tool head. 2) will the sizing/depriming die screw all the way down into any of the other stations? Yes, the sizing/depriming die screws all the way down into all other stations of the tool head except for station 1. 3) will the sizing/depriming die screw into Station 1 of the tool head from the bottom? No, the sizing /depriming tool cannot be screwed in from the bottom. Since this 650 is new and I'm just getting it set up; trying to just make sure I'm not doing something wrong.
  4. Just got my 650 and it seems I have a problem. I am trying to screw in the Station 1 -sizing and depriming die. Instruction manual states to raise the platform and the bottom of the die should be about a "dimes thickness" from the shell plate. Problem is my die can only be screwed in so far and then it stops and won't go down any further. So my die ends up being about "4 dimes thickness" from the shell plate. Taking the tool head out and inspecting it from the bottom, it appears that that Station 1 of the tool head is made differently and, perhaps, this is what is causing my issue? You can see from the photo that there are two small indentations or "cuts" in the tool head on the bottom of station 1 that, I believe, is preventing the die from being screwed down farther into the tool head. I did try sizing/depriming with the die set at this depth but only about 1/3 of the case is being inserted into the bottom of the die. This also prevents it from being deprimed. Any help would be appreciated.
