  1. JP Components are the way to go, one of the best companies for reliable product. In 3 gun, you want reliability JP lightened bolt carrier and bolt (bolt carrier has a special coating for a smoother action) JP lightened buffer and spring Seekins adjustable gas block Combine this with a JP, Lantac, Odin, or Surefire competition brake and you have a very flat shooting rifle Midlength gas system will allow you to optimize on the potential of all these components Welcome to the sport!
  2. Now that the Burris XTR II 1-8x is out, does anyone have an accurate comparison between these 2? I have the Vortex 1-6 Razor JM-1 and the Leupold VX-6 Multigunner 1-6x CM-R2 with similar reticles to the Burris Ballistic Circle Dot Reticle. The FFP combined with the extra magnification seems like the perfect combination to stay accurate between powers and still have field of vision. I'm just wondering if anyone has cranked it to 8x and found the reticle to cover too much of the target at 400+ yards.
  3. I've run a 10lb CZ Custom spring at 130pf for thousands of rounds with no problems at all to the slide or frame (xtreme bullets with Winchester WST, SP-01 accushadow & shadow frame w/ TS slide.) I've also used an 8lb wolf spring for 3 gun with no issues, just long slide delay which felt too slow
  4. ELS to the rear towards the right for 3 gun & USPSA pistol
  5. Target acquisition is different for the 2 sports. I also load/tune different ammo for each gun/sport.3 gun pistol targets are score by neutralizing with 2 hits anywhere which allows me to double tap while transitioning between targets without a powerfactor requirement (gun is still moving as I'm shooting both shots). USPSA pistol is scored by zoned precise hits and has a minimum power factor which requires more time and deliberate thought with each pull of the trigger (gun is somewhat stationary while shooting both shots). Weight of the SP-01 keeps the muzzle down.
  6. I shoot the 75 Shadow for 3 gun and a SP-01 accushadow for USPSA pistol. 3 gun requires more speed and USPSA pistol requires more accuracy
  7. Being a huge CZ Pistol fan, I recently bought a CZ712 Utility and started modified it for 3 gun. First 10 rounds shot had problems, not a single reliable cycle of the action. Used Federal 2 3/4" 1290 fps ammo. Pretty disappointed after reading all the forum threads and assumed CZ had fixed all the issues.
  8. Had a great time shooting this match, all stages flowed and were challenging in their own respects. Match mainly stayed on schedule for being full, small wait the first day. Well done Pete, the USPSA Staff, and RO's (for not being so uptight). Congrats to James Casanova on his win and thanks to the Noveske shooting team for being so friendly
  9. CZ Custom doesn't recommend polishing the hammer hooks or the sear face. I did not listen, stoned & polished them anyway, and experienced a failure at a regional 3 gun match.
  10. Anyone trim a few coils off a 13lb hammer spring? Wondering how many coils will put me right at the edge between reliability and max performance for SP-01 Accu Shadow. Using Win primers.
  11. Grease to help hold the springs and detents is a good idea
  12. Try Grams to see if they have followers and springs, plan on seeing if they have it for my factory 10 rounders http://www.gramsengineering.com/index.php
  13. Bent my spring and polished the mag release in the area that contacts the notch in the mag. Drops free with little effort
  14. I registered a few days ago, go asked 5 questions, still waiting for approval also. Not just you, no worries
  15. Pick a consistent spot on the firearm you are moving with and apply a bit of additional pressure with your trigger finger (finger straight and don't choose the trigger as a spot), this will give you a bit of additional safety when on the move. Be aware of your muzzle at all times, keep you gun within your sight as you move, and go for it
  16. Turning away from the gun side will increase you chances of breaking the 180. Brain may say turn then draw but your instincts are telling you to get the gun out of the holster as soon as possible. Another bonus to turning on the gun side is that your draw stroke will not be affected and target acquisition will feel more natural.
  17. This technique would tire someone who is not as toned or has less muscle mass. Takes training to make this effective.
  18. Thanks, I have some 10 rounders lying around too
  19. My Accu-Shadow puts out heat-seaking 9mm's, that's why I bought it...
  20. You can always try to use a dremel and metal polish to shine it up.
  21. "Ransom Rest testing at 50 yards with Fiocchi 125 JHP (A ZERO bullet) has proved group of less than 3” compared with a factory new gun at about 5.0”. At 25 yards the groups were around 1.2” a one-hole group" That's quoted from the CZ Custom Shop. Just got mine and shot it for a USPSA production classifier. Extremely accurate compared to my CZ 75 Shadow. If you get the Accu Shadow from the custom shop it will come with the CZC SHRT reset trigger system, amazing trigger, very short reset. The best gun you can get for shooting Production
  22. Tac 30 is still one of the best values for the money
