  1. I just just started using a Dillon 650. I started off reloading my first reloading session with some 9mm minor loads. There seems to be a powder jumping form the case with just 5.8 gr of silhouette powder. Seems like when I will try to load 9mm major the there is no way the powder is going to stay in the case. Just wondering what presses folks are using to load 9mm major loads. I am not new to reloading as I have been using a Lee turret press before I got the Dillon 650. Is everyone using a progressive press for 9mm major or is it better to stay with a turret press. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  2. No I have never seen that mentioned anywhere. Still bad practice to give CC# to someone calling you. Better to be safe than sorry. Tell them you will call them back.
  3. I would not be giving credit card number to someone calling you. Tell them you will call them back. They charged your card, they should already know the credit card number.
  4. Glad to hear everyone likes the HP Edge from Brazos. I ordered one over a month ago. I guess they had some problems with the latest batch of STI edges so it is a little late. I can't wait to get it.
  5. Semper Fi Bill. Welcome. Looking to retire in Fl in 3 years. 27 years active duty and 3 more to go for the full 30.
  6. Looking for advice on a good holster and magazine pouch combination for USPSA SS and IDPA. One that fits both or 2 different set ups are OK as well. Gun is full size S&W 1911.
  7. I use the DAA. Pain in butt to get CR speed mags pouches on, but once on they are not moving at all.
  8. I used the CED 8000 for airsoft. Picks it up as long as it is close. For just dry fire you have to put a wrist band on your offhand so it is as close as possibile. Not very comfortable and it ruins the practice session. I agree with other posters. For dry fire I just normally use the PAR times. But I like practicing with the airsoft a lot and CED 8000 works great for that.
  9. I use the magazine as it was produced my STI. With all the costs associated with this sport I can't bring myself to change all the components of a magazine that has been working just fine. By the time you change the springs, followers and base pads I could have about another magazine.
  10. 1 Open/Limited, 1 production, 1 steel, 1 ss and extras just in case.
  11. I wish there was a pattern to the timing. They did not have as many options as last time
  12. They are not using notifications. Seems you have to wake up early and keep checking.
  13. What is a good place to purchase 9mm brass? Both new and used. I know Starline seems to be the standard for new but it seems they never have any to order. Do you think it is a good practice to reload "once fired" to 9mm major. I am a little hesitate to reload "once fired" brass that I have not fired to 9mm major. No problem if I know I have fired the brass.
  14. Got some bullets this morning. Thanks for the updates. Keep them coming.
  15. Is there a specific time to be checking the website?
  16. Luckily I am one of the OCD folks. I have an auto index but I still check every case after powder load. I guess I might as well be loading on a single stage press and hand charging the case. I just can't bring myself to not check every load. Glad no one was hurt. Sometimes reloading scares the heck out of me. I am getting an 9mm open and I am nervous about reloading for it. I think my OCD is a plus here.
  17. Midway is pretty good on their product notification. You just have to be fast. I have my e-mail on my sell phone with an audible alert every time I get an email. React fast and get the order in and checkout. If you take to long to check out they could be gone.
  18. Midway gets 9mm in. Not MG but it is FMJ. Ordered 2K last week and just ordered 1K. There product notification works great. Have to be fast.
  19. Not electrical or mechanically inclined. When I read 2 12 volt batteries in series my mind just went to car batteries. I take it a rechargeable power inverter with electrical outlet will work. yes
  20. I turned 50 in Dec 2012. I have been in the Marine Corps for 27 years. So that is like 2 years of life for 1. So my body is like 80 years old. I had my colon check, prostate exam and other old man exams this year. I just had surgery on my shoulder. I had the other one operated on last year. I can't see anything without glasses. I have ringing in the ears and loss of hearing (i use hearing aids). Last week I was told I have sleep apnea. Getting old just plain sucks.
  21. I think the 22lr is scarce because of the price of center fire ammo. 22lr is not as cheap as before but it is still cheaper than 9mm. People need to stop buying. That is the only way the price of ammo will come down. As long as folks are paying the high prices the prices will stay high. Store where I am at (Chesapeake, VA) are selling 1000 rounds of 9mm for $720. People are buying it at this price. It is ridiculous.
  22. Poppa Bear I'm not following. The unit will run off battery. What I read on CE website is the lights needs to be plugged in. I did not see anything on CE website about batter hook up unless you are referring to wiring 2 12 volt batteries in series. I can't imagine carrying to 12 volt batteries to the range. I take it equipment from different brands can't be crossed. Ir from CED used on CEs pro chrono.
  23. heliman I in Chesapeake Va. Moving northern VA in July.
  24. I have been researching the forum for information about chronographs. It seems the prochrono gets great reviews. The CED M2 gets pretty good reviews as well. The M2 has a infrared screen. All I seen for the prochrono is an indoor lighting setup that needs AC power. I don't have an indoor range that will let me plug a lighting system in. How does the prochrono work indoors without the lighting system or is there an infrared system for the prochrono similar to the M2. I assumed you can't use the M2 infrared on the prochrono. Going to start reloading for 9mm major and need chrono that will be flexible. Use indoor and outdoor and work all the time.
  25. I wasn't thinking about ICOR. But I guess that could be an option. I was thinking more USPSA. I know one would not be competitive. More of a fun thing to do. I guess I should look into ICOR. Another organization to belong to.
