  1. Correct, the gun is un-locking too soon.
  2. Yes, lug problems can occur if the spring is too light. The front part of the top barrel lugs leading edge, will start to roll backwards forming a tiny lip or ridge, basically rounding that leading edge of the lugs.
  3. Also over time the top front part of the barrel lugs would start to roll back, prematurely wearing the useful life out of the barrel.
  4. I checked Numrich yesterday and they were actually more expensive. I will be giving EAA a call and giving this a try. +1 gennaro ! A lot of us want to try new things. I think that's the main reason we come to this forum is to learn how to improve our equipment and our shooting skills. Thanks again for all your help.
  5. Okay gennaro I never would have thought about the Firing Pin Block spring. I took that thing out of my Limited awhile back and it has been just sitting on my work bench collecting dust. So I installed it as is, and it is lighter, but it has a mushy feeling to it almost like it's stacking a little. Not sure I'm sold on using it, but I'll leave it in for a little while to see what happens. How many coils would you recommend taking off the original spring ? TIA.
  6. Intercooler they should be able to remove just about any prior finish on the metal and get it prepped for hard chrome. A friend had APW do a slide for him in hard chrome, he said it was for an EAA Witness Tanfoglio , and as he described the slide to them they determined that the flat parts on the sides , where the writing is, were Brushed finished, and the top and bottom radius were Matte finished. The slide came back virtually identical to an original look of a hard chrome Tanfoglio finish. Yours will look good.
  7. 1911/2011 has been here longer and the guns and aftermarket parts are readily available for the smiths to build anything at anytime. That's what they focus on, that's there bread and butter, and they have a lot of work in front of them. And as we all know the support of readily available guns and aftermarket parts are just not quite here yet from Tanfoglio. And of coarse that makes it difficult for smiths to pay the bills working on Tanfo's. Even companies like DAA, Cheely, and others have tried to make aftermarket parts, only to find that they are not in high demand yet, so they sell what they have and not do another order. Henning who has been fantastic in trying to make aftermarket parts, has been struggling at times with not enough demand to sustain production of some of his own products. Now we are starting to see more and more Tanfoglios all the time. Eventually they will become a platform that a lot more people will choose to use , and then the whole supply and demand thing kicks into high gear. Until then the smiths will only focus on what is a sure thing. In the future this will also include the Tanfoglios.
  8. Beautiful gun , hope it's true that they are finally coming here. Would even be more pleasing if better support and service came along with it .
  9. My original Limited Tanfoglio mag well weighs in at 1.00 ounce with the screw in it.
  10. shabodah they probably did market research and came to the conclusion that there was not enough demand for it. Could have been an interesting gun to shoot .
  11. Rich at Canyon Creek does an excellent job with those magwells, It might take a few months but they are nice.
  12. JDMarshall, congratulations on your new toy, it's great to have another Tanfo guy in the group. Gennaro helped me also with questions I had on my open and limited gun, just a nice guy. Once you get your first Tanfo It's difficult not to get another one. Have fun with your build.
  13. BeerBaron were you able to try those loads out this past weekend ? Curious to find out if you chrono'd the 10.2 gn of 3n38 and how that felt to you.
  14. I like instagram , difficult to do with Brian Enos forums though. Thanks for the reply kneelingatlas.
  15. It would be interesting to have a forum , that had no talking allowed on it.
  16. gennaro I see your machined slide isn't that much heavier. what did you make the mag button out of ? and what mini mill are you using to build your guns with ?
  17. Gennaro, First off I have to say you did an awesome job building that Tanfoglio Open gun. That is a thing of beauty. I want to ask about the cool work you did on the slide lightening. You said you have the V-12 also , I have the V-12 too , and I was wondering what the weight of your machined slide is , compared to your V-12 slide ? And I also want to cut the dust cover back on mine too, I think that just looks so very sexy. For awhile I thought I was the only one shooting a Tanfoglio Open gun, it's nice to see others using it too. Again a very cool build , I really like the way the entire gun looks , great job.
  18. Nice work alec, that's a great idea. I have a hard time with primer consistency, I might be trying this.
  19. Blake, where did you get the Ti compensator from ? and did it fit the slide perfectly, or did it have to be machined down to blend in with the top and sides ? It really looks good on the gun.
  20. Short slide vs long slide, there is no right or wrong, It really comes down to personal preference. I've seen guys shoot both, and it always came down to their load in determining how there gun felt or ran. Shorter slide has a slightly faster cycle rate, but felt a bit snappier to them. Longer slide is a little nose heavy and seemed slower to them, but it felt like it shot a bit flatter. And everyone has their own idea of how they perceive recoil, this is only one persons opinion. What's more important is what you want it to feel like. It's your gun, your shooting it not someone else. So unfortunately, you may have to try both to find out what you prefer to play with. But that's fun too.
  21. Barrels are difficult, Eaacorp.com log into the 2013 catalog, also call them to find out if there mag extension will also work for you. Your not alone with the henning situation. As for the mag extension, also try mec-gar.com and call them to see if they have any options. gramsengineering.com may know of someone , and also check with ericgrauffel.com , if you send Eric an e-mail on what you are looking for , he will return your e-mails.
  22. It's upsetting to hear, but unfortunately your not alone. There is a growing number of people now, that are very frustrated with him not returning phone calls or e-mails, even after they were able to talk with him the first time. And we completely understand that he is crazy busy and swamped and everything, and so are the rest of us also, but we still treat people with a common courtesy. Brian Enos is a 1 man operation, and I have never heard of him not returning an e-mail to someone who has a question. I own a business also, and I have never not returned an e-mail or a phone call within a day or two at most, because my reputation is important to me. I know you can't please everyone, that's impossible, but even if you really don't want to talk to someone, you are still running a business, and in my opinion you need to return those calls and e-mails. At least let them know what the situation is. Maybe you offer the parts on your web site but they are out of stock or no longer available, until they know that , they are trying to purchase parts from you, and until you inform them, they are getting frustrated because they don't know what's going on. People for the most part are very understanding when they are given an explanation to their situation. If you do not have the employees to answer all the calls and e-mails, than you need to put that on your web site, something simple like, we deeply regret that do to the high volume of whatever, we currently are unable to take anymore orders, or we may need a few weeks to return any e-mails, anything like that and people will get the picture. Also if your going out of town for several weeks, you need to inform your customers by simply putting that on your answering machine, or updating your web site with your schedule so that people aren't calling and leaving e-mails every day, wondering if the company went out of business. There are alot of people that have had a great experience working with him, and they highly recommend him to others, I use to be one of those people. But the first time customer doesn't have that experience yet, and they are frustrated along with a growing number of long time clientele, that have purchased stuff from him in the past, but now they can't even get him to return their calls or e-mails, even after weeks and months of trying. At what point do they say it's enough already and move on ? And if they feel that he is ignoring them, and not willing to help them out, they will go somewhere else. And there is always somewhere else, it doesn't matter what the product is or how few there might be of it. They will find it, or if they have to, they will find a way to replicate it themselves. Worse yet, they start to tell others of the bad experience they had trying to work with him. He has spent alot of years building his business and reputation, and I do not want to see him having to deal with this growing group of frustrated people. If you are fortunate enough to speak with him personally, your conversation will be most enjoyable, because he is absolutely one of the nicest, most helpful and gracious people in the shooting community. For me in the past, it was always a joy and a pleasure to talk with him. I hope that someone close to him, will be able to somehow help him get the customer service part of his company, back the way it was a few years ago. Because he really is one of the great people in this industry. I wish him all the best.
