I'm still fairly new to matches. I've read a lot here and in BE's book about shooting on auto pilot and being totally relaxed when shooting a stage. While I felt that I understood the concept, I had never experienced it.
Well, I was able to take my first class this last weekend. About half way through the class There was a stage the instructor set up where there was 3 shots moving forward, and 4 targets moving to my right using barricades and a mag change. By that time I was warmed up and I was feeling pretty good about the class. I got ready and indexed to my 1st target and.......I just shot the stage, all hits on 6" plates. After i got off the line I realized that I did not remember doing the mag change, the moving barrier to barrier or even if I had seen the sights when I broke my shots. It was a really an "a-ha" moment for me. Needless to say I throughly enjoyed the class and plan on taking more.
I'm really enjoying this sport. I only took it up last year and I'm hoping to get into some more matches when my family life will allow it.
