Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Nope, no strong urge to use snap caps... I will just leave them be.
  2. I have just bought my first DAO semiauto. A S&W M&P .40. I know in dry firing my ruger you pull the triger it goes snap, but not on these... I am sure there is something I am doing wrong but being a realtive newbie i would appreciate the input.
  3. So does anyone have any exercises/games they recommend for helping improve aim?
  4. I am still really new to shooting and I seem notice a common problem when shooting. It seems that no matter what I aim at I am hitting low and to the left nearly everytime. I am assuming it comes from either flinching before the trigger is pulled or possibly overcompensation from my left hand anticipating the recoil. When I shoot one handed I seem to fare much better at getting close to my aim point. I am sure some of you have had this occur. How did you get over it?
  5. Sure it is not a new question but what book do you recommend for a newbie to read/use for practice and skill drills?
  6. It was one I considered but I work in an environment where business casual is the norm. I considerd a vest or soemthing but I work outside a lot and that would make it hot.... Of course at work I would probably lock it in a vault or something similar.
  7. I was just looking at the generic times when you had competitions so no typos on your part. I may try to show on Saturday but I will definitly be there on Wednesday. I am still waiting to get my New DL so it makes it hard to buy anything without a photo ID....
  8. Funny that you mention that. I was reading another board and someone was talking about the M&P. I think I may go to the shop and see how it feels. IIRC it is a little longer than the other 2 and that is a concern. At work I have to wear business casual so.... of course there is the 5.11 vest...
  9. So is anyone using this as a daily carry gun? I am looking at getting something. Right now I have a P-90 but it is TOOOOO freaking huge to conceal. I know this is only marginally smaller but it sounds like it is slimmer.
  10. I have a Ruger P-90. I was intending to come April 26th but I have had to work late every night since then. I am going to try to get out there on May 24th. I was looking at the schedule on the Dallas IDPA site it looks like you guys do not have a shoot this weekend? (May 20th and 21st)
  11. I am looking at getting a new pistol for CCH and I think I have narrowed it down to the Glock 27 or the SA-XD 40 Sub-Compact. I have not had an opportunity to shoot wither of these but just in handling them I like the fit of both. Has anyone shot these pistols side by side or does anyone have any experience with these pistols? Thanks!
  12. Thanks... maybe I will rethink the whole casting deal.
  13. Cool, I will try to come next week. I will probably just come to see what it is all about the first night. I am still needing to get some items to start shooting, concealment garment, holster etc..
  14. I have been thinking about casting my own bullets. From what I hear if you hand load you MUST cast your own bullets... I am not sure why, I guess to control the entire procedure... Plus it sounds fun. What are some good resources for someone wanting to start in casting? Thanks!
