  1. Thanks to everyone who responded. All of the responses were very helpful!
  2. My search kung-fu might have failed me, but I can't find a direct answer to my specific question so I'm posting it here. I've shot a lot of USPSA Production and Single Stack, but now I'm gearing up to do PCC with a CZ Scorpion. The mags that I'm intending to use are the Magpul 35 round mags and the ETS 40 round mags. Of course, I have a couple of the stock CZ 20 round mags that came with the carbine itself. Running around with mags that big on my belt is something new to me so I'm looking for the best PCC pouch that I can that will work with these specific mags and not have them end up on the deck during a stage. I'm leaning towards the Comp-Tac pouches, but I'm really curious what pouches anyone has used successfully for these specific Magpul and ETS mags. My theory is that the various pouches all probably work just fine for stock CZ mags, but the trouble might begin with third party mags with high capacities.
  3. Has anyone used the Glock 33 mag along with the new Taylor Freelance Goliath extension with a JP GMR15?
  4. I'm coming in a bit late on this thread, but I've shot quite a bit of a single stack over the past couple years. I liked the BOSS/Bladetech combo for my Single Stack so much that I bought a BOSS to go with my Comp-Tac holster for production. For pouches, I'm a big fan of the Double Alpha Racer Single Stack pouches. The BOSS works great, it's reasonably priced, and I'm all about ordering stuff from Ben Stoeger Pro Shop since the average time between when they receive my order and when they ship what I ordered is best described as "freakishly quick".
  5. The registration is now open for the 2017 Factory Gun Classic at the WAC in Clearwater, Florida on December 2nd and 3rd. The match registration opened early this morning and half the slots are already gone so if you are interested this is something you'll want to move on quickly. Eight USPSA stages, BBQ from Mission BBQ, a nice match shirt, a packed raffle table with guns and other goodies etc. Basically, the standard major match goodness you've come to expect from the WAC.
  6. Of course, I cursed myself by posting I haven't had any issues with my Wilson mags because I started to have push feed issues with them in the past couple weeks. I'm reasonably certain it's an ammo or spring issue rather anything inherently wrong with the Wilson mags. I've already managed to rule out any gun issues. They've been very good mags for me. I just have to do some more testing once major match season calms down a bit to figure out if the new springs I put in them caused an issue or it was snarky ammo. I also happily use Tripp Corey System 10mm mags for my SVI 1911 40. I like having both the Wilson and Tripp mags so I can experiment if something goes odd. Tripp customer service is another reason I keep coming back to them (via my annual spring replacement purchases). They're very responsive and knowledgable when it comes to their magazines and 1911 pistols in general. I've dealt with Aaron over there on troubleshooting some issues over the years and he's a great resource and has great sense of humor. I won't use any other mags at this point other than the Wilson or Tripp. I've been using the Tripp mags more than the Wilson mags just because I know I'll get crazy good customer service out of Tripp if I have any questions such as my now annual magazine replacement spring discussion with Aaron. I'm told that Wilson has very good customer service also and the few times that I've emailed them questions, they've been very responsive so I'm set either way, I think.
  7. Send me your email and I'll get you the match book. There was an issue were getting email addresses wasn't mandatory when people signed up so if there wasn't an email on record, the match book didn't get to the shooter. Match starts at 0800.
  8. I use Wilson ETM 500s with the new and improved flat springs for my SVI 40 cal and it's eliminated any periodic magazine issues that I had with my old mags. I basically don't even think about mag reliability issues anymore.
  9. Not yet If you register, make sure you provide your email address in Match Sign up so that when it's ready, you'll get it in email.
  10. We're down to 31 slots left and Sunday is sold out. The good news (for people who had their hearts set on a Sunday slot) is that I'm hearing there might be a purge of the unpaid entries on Match Sign Up this coming Sunday night. Some of the unpaid slots are for Sunday so if you had your heart set on shooting on Sunday, keep an eye on Match Sign up and you might be able to snag any slots that come open because someone didn't pay. Saturday is were are all of the current open slots are right now, but some of the Saturday squads have sold out and others just have one slot left.
  11. We're down to only 42 of the 204 slots left after registration being open less than five days. The biggest issue at this point is that there are only two slots left if you want to shoot the match on Sunday. There are also a couple squads on Saturday that are almost filled up so if you have a preference for a day or a particular squad, it would be a good idea to register ASAP.
  12. I just got mine back from the factory after its 5,000 round check up and the whole gun looks new. The finish on everything, including the sights, has been what you'd expect from Infinity and I noticed no finish degradation at any time. More importantly, the rear sights have held zero without any issue. This is easily the most accurate gun I've ever owned.
  13. The terrible swift sword of the Match Sign up bot swept through last night and nuked any of the registrations that were not paid. Thus, if you registered yesterday, but didn't pay, your registration is now a smoking ruin and is no more. What you'll need to do is re-register ASAP and get your payment in so that you can still shoot on the day/squad that you like. And even with the evil registration bot doing it's dirty business, we only have 74 slots of the 204 left so early registration is encouraged especially if you have a particular preference for squads/days.
  14. Registration for the 2016 Factory Gun Classic at The Wyoming Antelope Club in Clearwater, Florida went live this morning and it's already about 25% sold. This will be an eight stage two-day event (you shoot it all in one day on whichever day you choose to shoot the match) with gun drawings and a raffle table on both days. The WAC is giving away 12 guns total and the raffle tables will feature swag from Springfield (the guns), Yetti, Black Scorpion and others. Registration fee includes a shirt, Mission BBQ lunch, and a chance to win one of the guns. http://www.matchsignup.org/match/default.php?matchid=846
  15. Aw, nuts. I'm so sorry. The proper registration link is http://www.matchsignup.org/match/default.php?matchid=873 for the Florida Open. I can't edit my original post now. I owe you beer, Sparky. (If a moderator can let me edit the original post or do it for me, I'd appreciate that. I posted on the Open and FL State at the same time and clearly screwed up my cutting and pasting of the links)
  16. $125 which is a screaming deal especially in light of the fact they put several new parts on it for no extra charge. SVI seems to really hate the idea of getting their paws on one of their pistols and having it not leave the factor with the best parts that they have available for them. They upgraded several parts during the build process for no extra charge when they came up with a better way to do something even after I had put in my order and before the gun was done. The customer pays shipping, of course, and that's reasonable. I went with one day shipping because I don't want my pistol away from either me or the factory any longer than necessary.
  17. Sure. I actually just sent it into SVI for its 5,000 round check up a couple weeks ago. That's a nice service that SVI offers where they do a full disassembly and inspection and fix anything that might need to be fixed. Apparently, if something is going to go wrong it's likely going happen within the first 5,000 rounds so they like seeing them back to make sure everything is good to go. Optional, of course, but there was no reason not to do it. Just got a phone call today from Tiffany (Yes, she called me on Saturday. I told her she needed to be watching football (Go Gators! ? ) like the rest of us rather than being fantastic with customer service.) who wanted to let me know that the pistol was done and that everything was fine. Because it's SVI, they also swapped out some parts for some of their new upgraded parts...at no extra charge. Because that's how awesome they are. I heard machine type noises in the background of the call so I think she was at the factory and I'm guessing she wasn't the only one working today.
  18. I went with SVI for my USPSA Single Stack and don't regret a singular thing. The customer service before, during, and after the build process has been exemplary and the pistol has been magnificent. It's also really, really pretty. Look, you don't need to fork over SVI money to get a decent 1911, but if you do want the top of the line, look no further. At least when it came to high end Single Stack prices, the SVI was actually a pretty reasonable value. I spent less on a completely custom SVI 1911 than I would have spent paying for High-End Brand X's off-the-rack top of the line stuff.
  19. I suspect that Smitty is hip deep in Nationals prep work right now so I'm getting this out since registration is open now. The registration is now open for the 2017 Florida Open to be held February 16-19 2017 at the Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, Florida. You can follow the webpage to get more details as they are released.
  20. I know Smitty is busy getting ready for Nationals so I figured I'd get this out for him until he can post more detailed information. The 2017 Florida State Championship is now open for registration. Same awesomeness as any other year. Two day match that you can crank out in one day. Smitty is the MD, Dan Bernard is the RM. Lunch provided and awards on Sunday. The dates are Jan 20 2017 - Jan 22 2017 at the mighty Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, Florida.
  21. Finalized until it's not. It just takes following the SV FB page for any length of time and you'll get new ideas after seeing what other people came up with for their builds. In my defense, I only twiddled with the trigger on my build along with adding some of the new stuff they came up with after I put in my order (double undercut trigger guard and the nifty new angled mag release)...until Brandon told me the pistol was in fitting. Then I think the conversation was something like: Brandon: Good news! The pistol is in fitting. Won't be long now. Me: Wait!!! Make it even prettier!!!! Duotone that sucker!!!! Xcellerator cuts front and back!!!!! Put the cool Infinity symbol thingy on the slide!!!! Please tell me it's not too late... Brandon: It's never too late to make an SVI even more awesome. Maybe that's not verbatim, but that was the gist of it.
  22. That pistol isn't even close to being considered broken in yet and you're already getting a good result so that's promising. Now go crank out another 900 rounds. What I've discovered now that I've done USPSA Single Stack for a couple seasons is that your 1911 is ultimately only as good as your magazines. Failure to lock back the slide could be several things (such as weak magazine springs that need to be replaced), but noting to be worried about too much at this early stage.
  23. I haven't seen or shot one, but if the only thing I knew about the Sig Max 1911 was that Tim Herron uses it that would be enough for me. I can't imagine that you'll be unhappy with your choice and you might just reach out to Tim to see if he has any recommendations on how he has his set up. I think Tim runs a .45 version, however, rather than a .40 version.
  24. I'm working on my old school Italian-made Beretta 92FS also this month getting the rear slide situation figured out now. I went with the MGW 92 sight pusher also and it works just great. The .270 Wilson Combat rear sight is billed as the factory replacement height and once I got it on the slide, it brought the point of aim to where I remember it being both when I've used it for USPSA and back in the day when it went through the police academy and any number of training/qualification shoots. I always shot/shoot just a bit low and just a tad to the left with it, but still with very tight groups at 25'. I've always assumed it was just the typical shooter induced low/left issue. I'm actually going to try putting the .280 on it next and pushing the sights just a little bit to the side for windage and see what that gets me. I could run with these .270 sights and I'd be just fine, but now I have to know what the .280 will do for me. Question for Less: Are you having to do any fitting for these Wilson Combat rear sights to get them on your Beretta(s)? I had to do just a tab bit of fitting on mine and everything was fine, but I wasn't sure it that was unique or not.
  25. So I went with AET for my 1911 .40 cal SVI for USPSA Single Stack after discussing with Brandon and Team Blue on the merits of AET vs. Non-AET. I'm not qualified to really give an opinion one way or another other than to say I'd recommend talking to the SVI people and letting them guide you through the decision process. That said, the AET barrel with the Titanium Nitride looks very pretty no matter what finish you decide to go with in the end. As we know, looking cool is more than half the battle in action pistol. What I have discovered is that my pistol works fine the Atlanta Arms and Ammo "TCJ" rounds which I seem to recall that they told me were Berry's plated bullets, but I could be very wrong. I was a little concerned at first when I got them because I thought they were plated rather than jacketed. Some very helpful guy named "Casey" gave me a good education on bullets and industry terminology and said if I didn't dig them, they'd make it right. Just trust him and test them. I did and they're very accurate out of my AET barrel. Called him back and thanked him for his time. Asked him to spell his name, turns out his first name is spelled "KC" That said, Brandon has also cautioned me to be careful with plated bullets when I've discussed this with him so that's why I say it's just wiser to talk to the SVI folks and make an informed decision. I'd go with AET again if I had it to do over.
