Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Frank puts on a great match. He gives you different ways to shoot the stages and gives you just enough room to hang your self if you want to take the risk on the stages. The hard cover is hard, and Franks says if you can shoot thru it it isn't hard cover. I have never been disappointed at one of his matches. It's worth the trip.
  2. I think the ESR would be a better fit if they combined it with CDP. Power factor is the same and capacity is close to being the same.
  3. I use the Weigand rear and a Protocol Design plain black front. I have no experience with the Rough County sight.
  4. One place I see people loose time; when shooting from cover and having to do a reload. When they run dry they move back behind cover to do the reload. 3.8.6. When reloading behind cover a shooter does not have to duck back completely behind cover to reload before reengaging targets from a stationary firing point. The shooter may keep his eyes on his next threat as long as he is in cover and does not expose more than 50% of his torso or any of lower body/legs/feet to the next threat target. For vertical cover, at least 50% of the shooter’s torso, as well as 100% of the shooters legs and feet must be behind cover. Low cover is the same as vertical cover and requires at least one knee touch the ground. For a combination of low and vertical cover, e.g. a barrel, the shooter’s legs and feet must be behind cover and at least 50% of the shooter’s torso must be behind cover; however, simultaneous exposure of the shooter’s torso above and around the cover is permitted
  5. I put no lube of any kind in my chambers. I use Frog Lube on everything else.
  6. I think if you were to challenge the calibration and someone strolled out with a 6" revolver and you were a SSR shooter. It would cause more problems than if they had a legal gun. The loads may only make the 105PF thru the Gun but I think it would just get ugly.
  7. My first match I shot with my carry gun, a Kimber Ultra carry in 45. I moved to a XDM than a Glock 34, but for the last several years I have been shooting SSR with 686.
  8. This was a fun match last year and the money goes to helping children.
  9. I have three Comptac's and one Bladetech. The one option on the Bladetech that I like is that you can adjust it to the size belt you are using. I prefer the belt holster over the paddle, but it's just a personal preference.
  10. I agree with Steve, when possible I will give a courtesy cover call. Once you fire the shot, if cover were to be called it would just cost you addition time. More than likely, it would cause you to repositioning yourself. No need to cost a shooter additional time. I personally prefer not to be given cover calls. I am normally in shooting mode and it is a distraction. If I earn it, give it to me.
  11. If a cover call has been made and you make the adjustment before breaking the shot there is no procedural. If you have broken the shot you have already earned the procedural penalty, it is already to late to call cover at that point.
