  2. I run the 12.5" fluted mid length has on my sbr and like it a lot. I also have several friends who run those barrels on comp rifles and they are extremely accurate. The only issue I have with the barrel is that it's heavier than I would like but the fluting helps. With my 12.5 I have no problem hitting a larue at 400yds with a red dot. Also they are very customer service friendly.
  3. I'm planning on going to Malabar so unless anything changes I'll see you there. Thanks for the feedback on the mods. I'll be looking into getting the work done before Area 6 next month.
  4. Alright guys, it's been a while since I've been on here. I picked up a Versamax over the weekend (much thanks to F.E.A.R. Armory) and I've been working on loads. It's chewing up my thumb just like the JM pro did pre C-Rums carrier. I feel like my technique must be wrong since this carrier was supposed to fix the issue. There is still just enough space to catch your thumb on it and the detent is to stiff to slam the shells in. My question is if anyone else has run into the issue and how you've overcome it. I'm tired of feeling like my thumb keeps getting slammed in a door. I load quads from the support hand. Please lmk your thoughts.
  5. Thanks for the replies. This should solve my problems.
  6. The Federal that I shot later ran fine so I'll look into getting some of that. I've also been curious about the Estate loads. Any thoughts?
  7. Thanks for the advice. I'll look into polishing it before I take it out again.
  8. Gentlemen, I shot a match yesterday with some Winchester Supertarget which I picked up cause it was all they had in stock. This JM Pro is a new beast to me and I've only put around 300 rounds through it thus far and up till now it's been a little picky with the ammo. The supertarget was a complete flop. It wouldn't eject right, caused several double and even a triple feed (WTF moment), and completely screwed me on the first stage of the day. Later I swapped a squadmate for some federal and had much better luck. Besides the obvious lesson which I should have never done in the first place (bringing untested ammo to a match), what ammo can you recommend for this SG? Looking for something that will run it effectively and not break the bank. Also, where is the best place to pick up SG ammo online? I'd rather put in a good bulk order than to trust Wally-World to have it in stock. Any advice would be appreciated.
  9. I think I'll just do that for this match then get it fixed up right. I may not put out my best times but it's a local match anyway and will be fun regardless. Thanks for the suggestions.
  10. Sounds good... now to find someone who can have it to me in the next two weeks. Thanks for the help gentlemen...
  11. Alright guys I just got a 24" Mossberg JM-Pro Tactical as a dedicated 3-gun shotty. I've done about an hour of loading drills and took it out to the range today and put 25rds through it. My problem is that after just this little bit of testing my thumb feels like it's been slammed repeatedly in a car door, I flinch any time one of my daughters comes anywhere near it and I'm finding all kinds of corners in my house that I had forgotten about. The Issue: The elevator has a half moon cut out of the front of it (comes that way from the factory) and when go to load the shells it catches my thumb on the way out. Not only does it slow me down but it hurts like a #!*%@#$. I have looked around a bit to see if there is an aftermarket elevator available for a 930 but haven't seen any sign of one. I know there are others out there with this problem and I have a match coming up in two weeks. Does anyone either know of any after market part or other solution for this before the match? This is what it looks like now. This is a picture of one I saw that DukDuk had up here. I like this very much. =)
  12. I'd definitely look into PSA... Sign up for their email blast as they are constantly putting out great deals every weekend. The Stag 3G series is pretty nice as well. Best advice though is to wait a little if you need to so you can put a little more into your rifle. The quality gap between $750 and $950 is enormous and will be well worth the $200 extra in the long run.
  13. So let me get this right.... no one is cleaning the bore at all? I've always wiped it down with solvent then used a brass (I think) brush on it and wiped it down again. No bueno??
  14. Also, I've been using Hoppes Elite to lube but not to clean. I usually soak the barrel with #9 before cleaning everything else, then clean the barrel and finish with Elite. It's worked great except for that smell.
  15. Sooooo many options and so little cash to try them all. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll start working my way down the list.
  16. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'l start trying a few of those out. =)
  17. I've been using Hoppes #9 for as long as I can think back to but my wife absolutely hates the smell. It's about the equivalent of her doing her nails around me. =/ Now I'm in the market for a new solvent.... any suggestions? Preferably something that doesn't smell as strong.
  18. I moved around some safes today and I realize the value of having two mid size rather than one monster. I did get one off a friend that will do for now, at least until I can afford a nicer one. At least now my stuff is secure.
  19. I wish I had a cabelas closer than 14 hours away. I might look into bass pro though. Thanks for the info.
  20. I'm finally able to buy a gun safe which I've been needing for a very long time. I don't have a huge budget but I would rather pay a little extra for quality. The $500-600 range is about the max I have at the moment and the pressure to actually get a safe supersedes the option of saving for a larger/better one. I was looking at a Cannon 24 gun that runs $550 at tractor supply. Thought/suggestions? Or if you have one locally you want to get rid of for cheap that's always an option too. ;-)
  21. I'm a big fan of M&P's. I shoot production currently with a Pro9. I've owned a bunch of XD's as well but have never really been a big Glock fan. I grew up shooting 1911's so they hold a special place in my heart, but the practicality is lacking when compared to newer guns. I don't reload yet. I've been learning and want to get in but now isn't a very good time for it. Chris, I live less than 10 minutes from Babson Park. If that's where you lived the I'm sure you know Jim Bell?
  22. I shoot only about 100 rds a week on average. Of course before matches it goes up but I guess that's why I'm a good C or lower B. lol. I can't even fathom 100k. I try to make the most out of what I can afford and get some really good low round count drills in.
  23. Hello all. Wanted to drop a line to introduce myself. I've been shooting down at Universal Shooting Academy for just over a year now. Grew up shooting but really started doing it more in the past 2 years. Also just started as a LEO and with the amount of time training and work is taking up, plus the shortage of ammo, I'm not able to get out to the range every week like I have the past couple years. I am currently looking for an AR that I can use for a patrol rifle as well as entry level 3 gun rifle. I'm an NRA handgun instructor and always open to new ideas and advice.
  24. Don't know where you are exactly but Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof puts on some of the best matches around. The host the FL open and some of the other bigger matches as far as USPSA goes. Club matches and steel challenge on every 2nd Sunday and they just started 3 gun and action steel on the 3rd Saturday (I think). Shannon Smith and Manny Bragg run the place and do an incredible job. Very professionally done. Definitely check it out if you can.
