Thinking of buying one that I would like to use for both CCP and CO. However the width of the pistol (without the optics) is 5.5 inches, which is about .2 inches longer than the width of the CCP TEST box which is 5.375 inches. Has anybody tried to fit this gun in the test box with an empty magazine and confirm the results? Thanks. Franco

looks like the match is full - I do not know much about this match, but since the big guns from Michigan are going, it's got to be good. is this an IPSC match (not USPSA)? The pics from last year's match show metric targets, which suggest USPSA. It will be clearer once the matchbook is posted. -
New M&P Pro is Stovepiping and weak ejection
FrancoShoots replied to hartzpad's topic in 1911-style Pistols
I had similar problems with my regular M&P 9mm when I used Winchester white box ammo; once I stopped using them I had no problems with other ammo, including 8000 rounds of Wolf ammo. -
Again a GREAT MATCH. My compliments to Chris McNutt for another exciting match design. No one designs stages like Chris: they are all adrenaline rushes. some are just 8 to 16 rounds, and just a blast. Looking forward to next year's matches. Thanks also to Roy for reorganizing and cleaning up the storage house. To Brian for the stats and Rob, Chris and the rest of the gang for setting up. ~Franco

Isn't it kinda late for that? Was there an issue? Scores are posted here: BCCC I think he's kidding. He probably means he's going to review his own scores. I should probably review my own while we're at it. The only question I had was I noticed that the blind house had times listed in the results. I thought it was a par time stage. There was an issue on Stage 3 with some par times, which was fixed late last night. The affected shooters have been notified. I initially posted on this site a report that I created that showed the scores by stage; when I learned that there was issues with Stage 3, I removed my report. ~F

Oh yes, very good match. Many thanks to don't-bring-an-auto Ed. The SO's were among the best and most courteous. Super stages. I initially ranked the highest the Coyote Heaven for the two running coyotes, but then thought that the Keep Up With Cover was just as worthy of a top spot for the moving cover (car) and the overall design. And then ShootOut At Joe's with the sliding target and the swinger. Don't want to forget the Garage stage with a slow slider, or the puzzling Blind Stage - almost forgot the door. What can you say about The Wall.. well, I'll let someone else describe that one. And the Lumber Yard.., yep I screwed up that too, don't know why, it looked so easy. And yes, the Short String, a standard exercise with gusto, and a COVER trap, we really needed that one, right Dick? I think I forgot the Hidden Assault, another seemingly easy one, that can byte you good though. Even the Standard Exercise was fun - that does not happen often. In summary, a super choice of stages, thanks guys. So, it was really worth my 2 hour and 45 minutes ride, definitely. Good stuff guys, good stuff. Thanks to all the statisticians and score sheet runners, we could not have had a timely award ceremony without you. Thanks again to the ROs, you guys were a lot of fun and made it pleasant, even in the rain. Thanks to the cooks - I would have feinted without you. And thanks to the Black Creek Conservation Club for hosting us. Thanks again to the IDPA-is-not-a-team-sport Ed... yes, we got it. ~Franco P.S. the Sunday rain was not that bad really, it may have gotten us more tired by the 9th or 10th stage though. It may have been worse for the Saturday shooters though.

2007 Michigan Setional

Congratulations to Cameron. It's no surprise that this was a super match. You know I wish I could have been there. ~Franco -
Friends, I am cancelling the Mother's Day Match of Sunday May 14. weather.com predicts chances of precipitations at 80% through tomorrow morning, with a similar situation in the afternoon This morning we setup 6 stages, then around 1pm we started shooting. 10 of us could only shoot 4 stages through the rain shower before it started to pour and we decided to stop. While the ground system was able to absorbe the rain reasonably well, it was somewhat miserable and there are high chances that it will be the same story tomorrow. As I am writing I am sneezing like crazy. Sorry about the short notice. Stay tuned for upcoming matches and sunny days. Franco

The Raccoon Hunters Club, in Romulus Michigan, is organizing a Mother’s Day Match on May 14, 2006. This will be a 6 stages top level event including one classifier, with a round count of 137. The idea is to have a quick but challenging match, so that we can have dinner with our favorite mothers instead of the usual suspects with whom you dine after a match. Our goal at the RH Club is to offer local shooters stages that are challenging. We usually borrow ideas from major matches that we have attended in previous years. We can confidently say that you will enjoy this and all upcoming matches at the Raccoon Hunters Club, just like our shooters have have enjoyed our previous matches. Special thanks to WisconsinShooters.com and GeorgiaIPSC.com for stage designs. The brand new 10-plus-bay facility of the Raccoon Hunters Club is located near Detroit Metro Airport, just North-East of I-94 and I-275. For directions please see www.RaccoonHunters.org (About>Map-Directions). The RH club will also host the 2006 USPSA Michigan Sectional, the IDPA Michigan State match, the USPSA Targeting Education Match, monthly USPSA and IDPA matches, and weekly practice session. For details, see the website. I would like to hear from you indicating whether you will or will not join us for the Mother’s Day match, just to have an idea of who is coming. Also, contact me if you are available for setup on Saturday 13th and Range Officers on Sunday 14th. See attached updated (4/27) stages that we are preparing for the Match. Just received my Miculek smooth grip from Brownells. Installed it in a few minutes. It feels great. It allows my fingers to squeeze the grip way up. Thanks to this forum for all your suggestions. I may probably place some scateboard tape or something similar to the top of the grip. not sure yet.

I just unrapped the MOON CLIP STRIPPER from Brownells for my 610 .40 and tested it; it works extremely well - it removes spent cartridges with a twist and holds all 6 of them in its tube. then you just dump them in the bag without them flying all around. I recommend it. FRANCO

wow, RW, many thanks for the starting kit. that is exactly what I was looking for. As soon as I finish assembling my new Dillon 650 I will try your recipe. Happy riding.

Thank you all for the advise. Of course I will need to read your postings several time to make sure I understand them completely. It is very nice for a new shooter like me to have such quality support. Thanks guys. I have decided to order a Miculek wood smooth grip.. yes I could have waited.. well no, I could not wait.. I have just received the kydex holster that I ordered from Comp-tac (what a good company they are); I am borrowing some extra moon-clips and Blade-tec clip holders and will shoot my first IDPA revolver match this week-end. I have a S&W 610 4" - my first revolver. I plan to shoot it with .40 cal rounds. Which reminds me: I'll be looking for posts on IDPA/IPSIC loads; if there aren't any, I will start one... Thanks again to you all that replied to my post. I hope that this post helps others that have the same question. Ciao a tutti (bye everyone) Franco

What makes a 610 a "classic"? I just bought a 4" 610, non-fluted, model#163571 S# CHS7804 Franco

thank you Dan. it helps. what do you think about pushing the web of your hand up just below the hammer? It seems that it would help muzzle control.

Is it better to shoot with finger groove grip or with a smooth grip? Conventional wisdom may suggest that finger groove. A fellow shooter suggested to have a grip as high as possible; I tried this technique and felt I had a more solid grip; however, the grooves of my Hogue grip were kind of on the way, and I thought that it would be better not to have grooves. I plan to buy wood grips, either the smooth or the FG grip. What is your experience?
