it still has to comply with the other PD rules, so no big grips/prone pads, no wings, no comps. I guess you could bolt on a mover base to fit the optic though
-
optic on a revo doesn't cycle on every shot, so supposedly an advantage, which would be one of the only advantages a revo would get over an auto.

Pistol Australia currently has the policy for any of their matches that all competitors have to be fully vaccinated -
https://www.viperproducts.com.au/ makes a fantastic revolver holster

Revolvers are exempt from the box in production division from the rule book "To meet size requirements, handguns with empty magazine inserted must fit wholly within a box with internal dimensions of 8-15/16” x 1-5/8” (revolvers exempt)."

This is what I've been given 2020 NRA Action Pistol Rule Changes ADDED - 3.2.4 Production Optic Firearm – Same configuration as a Production Firearm in Rule 3.2.2 with the exception of addition of an optic and that revolvers are not allowed. The following will apply: a. Pistol must be able to fit into Production Box if optic is removed b. Optical and or electrical sights must be attached only to the slide between the ejection port and the rear of the slide

what's the thinking behind not allowing revolvers to be used for production optics division now that it has been added?

Safariland 002 Cup Challenge legal for production division?

thanks for that, for the life of me I could not find it on their site. When you use the holster finder it only shows the J frame. Looking at the comptac option, their 6" model has an open front also, so probably not legal either -

looking at the Blade-tech website, they only have a J frame holster (also looks like they have dropped all of their competition gear) -
Finally got to shoot a match with both guns with the metallic on the mover I kept coming up and sighting of the wings on the front sight (more practice needed). With the open gun I shot a PB for the match. Broke the PB after mover, barricade, and plates. I choked on the practical though, not sure what went wrong with me, so plenty of room to improve there. The new grips arrived for the guns also

I do like the Hogue big butt grips (my other revolvers all have them), but for these 2 I'm going to give the Slater grips a go
-
got the open gun back from the gunsmith with the barrel sorted and the stick shift mounted. Also had to get the firing pin fixed on the metallic gun. next thing is to sort out some better grips for both.

Thanks for the offer, I was more curious than anything.

that is a max of 12 shots for a short course, you could get 8 shot courses. IPSC revolver is going to have standing reloads. the 24rd course the 6 shot has to load 4 times at least to the 8 shots 3 and for a 32rd course it is 6 to 4 reloads at a minimum.

Looks like the next WAPC will be 2020, not 2018 as it is moving to a 4 year cycle.
-
so the verdict is to keep it rushed off hand at 20m, 4 shots under an 1", the 5th out to 2", the 6th out to 3.5" group. the 5th and 6th were all me jerking the trigger.
