  1. Just to "close" this thread, STI sent a new extractor. I set it up tight without any polishing or chamfering and three matches later it is still running great. Thanks STI
  2. If you sand it a lot before you stipple it you may have the same problem as mine: magazines that are a bit long front-to-back can be trapped in by squeezing the grip. One out of 4, but never the less something to avoid.
  3. Big difference. Lead bullets, being about .001 larger than jacketed would not pass through my EGW at all. Some valve grinding compound on a dowel in your electric drill will open it up.
  4. I just talked to STI about this issue. The 9mm-40cal extractors do not have the third "bump" near the hook like the 45s do so they are really anchored at two points, not 3. Somewhat loose is normal.
  5. Chamfer the bottom of the extractor hook. It has to have room for the rim to enter while tilted.
  6. Dear Julie You are limp-wristing and should work out more. Or shoot single stack major.
  7. I will look into the Lupula effect for sure. I chamferred and polished the extractor hook and shot a match without problems but my son had a new failure. Look at his post on Eagle feeding.
  8. Yes, I used the Uplula. Tell me more
  9. My Eagle dents 2% of the rounds during feeding to the extent that they lock the gun up after they enter the chamber. The slide stops about 1/8" out of battery. OAL 1.167" to 1.120" Any help here?
  10. Mine( barely) makes the IDPA weight with the original plastic MSH and aluminum Dawson ICE magwell. I shortened the two piece guide rod so I could disassemble the gun with out tools. ILS gone, 10# and 17# springs, extended firing pin. C
  11. I concur with Chandler. The lead bullets are about .001" bigger than the jacketed bullets for which the gauge is designed. I put a 3/8" aluminum rod in my drill press, wrapped it with tape to get a running fit in the gage, coated it with valve grinding compound, and opened the gauge up a bit.
  12. The EGW thumb safety is machined from solid stainless steel, not MIM. A beautiful piece, but half again as much as the Wilsons, which have served me well. Forget the abmi.
  13. My Eagle is still at 95%. Feed stoppages despite STI re-profiling the feed ramp. Presently at 1.7 OAL with BBI 180s. 165s are worse. Tried 10# to 14# recoil springs. Magazine lips .381" to .388". Ordered Grams followers.
  14. They replaced my worn out 550B at no charge and even paid the shipping. I had the new press 8 days after shipping mine to them. Incredible
  15. I have also had the first round come loose from my 10 round 9mm Metalforms several times during the reload. Oddly enough, sometimes when I am downloading full magazines I cannot get the first round out without using a blunt object. Anyone else? Go figure. Charlie
  16. Dillon told my son to lower the sizing die. It was, of course, already touching the shell plate. Strange advise. I was going to modify the de-capping pin holder so the pin stuck out further but will try your fix first. Charlie
  17. I cannot hear the rim fire hits during Steel Challenge. (I know I should call the shots but please spare me, I can't see either.) Are the higher cost units better in this regard than my Howard Leigh Impact Sports?
  18. Problem not solved, failed during a classifier. STI said my barrel has the old feed ramp profile and they are re-contouring it.
  19. I milled off the old blade, milled a 1/8" slot in the base, and glued in a S&W revolver fiber sight. It looks perfect. Charlie
  20. I have not compared the ramps but polished the feed ramp and installed a 14# spring. So far, so good, even with about 100 minor loads.
  21. Ah ha! I will measure the boys guns this weekend. Mine is the only one that does not like the 165s.
