  1. And the Brownells Lady 3 Gun was muddy. Hurricane caused flooding and the range flooded the second day!
  2. Warsport Challenge 3 Gun was a ton of fun!
  3. Thank you for doing what you do. There are two professions I have a lot of respect for and nurses are number one on the list. Thanks!
  4. Thanks to everyone that works holidays. From medical to law enforcement to power plant operators to waffle house employees. We all do what we have to do to provide a service. I just wanted to vent about it. Turns out, on this night I had to leave my family on a holiday, I saved someone else's life so maybe he can spend Christmas with his family. Made my complaining seem petty when they almost lost their family member forever. I do love my job, just hate the looks in my kids' eyes when I have to leave! I was humbled after my complaining when we were coding that patient, and even more humbled when we got a heartbeat back. I need to complain less.
  5. I'm an ER nurse, assistant nurse manager.
  6. I know it is just part of the job, but it really sucks to leave everyone partying and having a grand time together to go to work. Had to sleep most of the day and off to the trenches at 1830. Never gets easier to miss holiday stuff.
  7. I went from nothing to top female shooter in one match. Of course, I was the ONLY female shooter.......but hey, I was the top female! Haha. I was dead last. Then the second match I beat a few boys. That was fun. Good luck to ya!
  8. This made me laugh out loud. My kids wanted to know what was so funny!! A wise man once told a groom to put a pebble in a jar every time they had sex during the first year. He then said to take a pebble out every time they have sex after the first year. He said the jar may never be empty again! Lol
  9. I'm wanting to get into 3 gun and am looking at AR's now. Great post on the first match. Where do you shoot? I'm about 2.5 hrs from Atlanta and exploring where the great 3 gun matches are around here. So much to learn about shooting rifles. And I haven't even broached the subject of shotguns yet. I shoot USPSA but 3 gun looks so fun!!
  10. I have the same problem a little, except I'm the woman. I spent the first 10 years of my marriage trying to make him happy by doing everything with him because he is not socially independent. He is more of a hermit, and would prefer me to stay home with him. We have three kids as well and I work fulltime. I finally decided that I have to be the individual I like to be or I would go crazy and lose myself. If there is a party I want to go to and he won't go, I go anyway. But I make sure it doesn't interfere with the kids and I balance it with time for him. As a result I have not watched TV in over a year. I sacrifice it to go do other things since I couldn't care less about TV. So pick your battles and prioritize what you really want to do. I shoot a match about once a month. The kids go with me (they think it is cool that Mom can shoot). It also helps if you encourage your spouse to do something for themselves as well. Maybe this Saturday is her day--she can go shopping with the girls or whatever she likes to do while you keep the kids. Then next week you can go shoot a match. I always encourage the husband to go golf or go to a ballgame, then I don't feel guilty shooting a match. And I spend a lot of time with my kids, so if I am away for one day, it is OK. I want the kids to learn that it is OK to take a little time for yourself.
  11. I have the funniest moments with my kids. Anyone have any funny kid stories? I'll start. Tonight we were watching "Grown-Ups". In the movie there is a four year old that still breast feeds (to be ridiculous). My ten year old asked how on earth he was getting milk, "do they have a milk container in her bra or something?" Being the last child, he never saw breast feeding. When we explained it to him he said "please tell me we didn't do that. Please mom, tell me we only drank milk out of bottles!!" We were rolling as I said "I'm afraid not, you were breastfed". He is now "scarred for life" and the whole family is still laughing over it. He now swears he will never drink milk again.
  12. No sympathy here. As a female that has given birth to three kids, I can't feel sorry for the minor violation you get at the doctor!!
  13. 40 is the new 20. At least that is what I'm telling myself as I'm knocking on 40's door. I work with a bunch of twentysomethings and they think I am old! They saw a pic of me the other day from the 90's from something at work and they all died laughing at the hair and the style of scrubs we wore then. I told them we will all be laughing at them in 20 years!
  14. If anyone has insomnia tonight, you could always help me research the differences between qualitative and quantitative research using evidence based practice and peer reviewed scholarly articles to support your answer. Just sayin. That will put anyone in a coma.
  15. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Meetings after working 14 hour shift that highlight nit picky things that we are doing wrong just annoy me to no end!!! Maybe I'm just cranky. And sleepy. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  16. I wish I could!! I work next weekend My sister went to college in St. Augustine at Flagler.
  17. Show me the knife that can cut a penny in half...... Trauma shears can -- though I wouldn't have firsthand knowledge of such activity..... Trauma sheers can cut anything. And get you out of all sorts of....situations....though I wouldn't have firsthand knowledge of such activity.....
  18. There is no such thing as a stupid question!! Especially here--better to ask than to cause harm. I can't stand when someone insinuates a question is stupid. That's what makes people hesitant to ask questions and post. I'm sure with my very limited knowledge there are a few people that have found my questions stupid, but I don't care . Everyone on this forum has been helpful and given me tons of info and resources! So ask away!
  19. What are you in school for?
  20. You are so right. The general public will never understand. People look at me and think I am callous and heartless. You can only watch people die so much until you have to block it out so you don't go crazy. We work our asses off on every patient, but sometimes it is not enough. Sorry you have to do this as well. As charge nurse I always have to go with the doctor to tell the family and then end up picking them up off the floor and trying to console them. It never really gets easier. My husband is in business and has no clue what I deal with.
  21. Awesome! I'm writing on quantitative nursing research and emergency department wait times, the subject that gets me cussed out regularly at work! So fun. So I am procrastinating by whining on be forums.
  22. I work nightshift so I can relate. I can never sleep at night anymore. Rough when everyone expects Mom to actually be awake and functional during the day and remember everyone's everything. If you ever can't sleep, message me. I can bore you to sleep!
  23. I'm 37 years young and back in college furthering my degree and I HATE WRITING PAPERS IN APA FORMAT!!!! I'd rather be shooting!!
