  1. Yeah what this guy said. 100%.
  2. I went with the dovetail mount. Looks like hammered poop but......
  3. Also odd that so many join but then never shoot a match. I was surprised at that.
  4. Agreed, generally, with the tinkering. If your gun is built right, kept clean, and oiled properly, there really shouldn't be any tinkering needed. Decent ammo loading practices help a lot here as well. The 38SC/9major thing has been beat to death over the years. Open isn't "cool" anymore so there are some ok deals out there on used ones.
  5. Sorry for not updating this; it was an OAL issue. Stetched them out a bit and it's 100% now.
  6. I'm a bigger clumsy guy, so I'm picky about shoes. Stumbled on a brand called "Salewa." Pricy but lots of different styles/options. I first saw them in Europe, but they're available online here AND in stores as well. Just another option.
  7. No help at all, but I'd put this in the Gunsmithing section of the forum.
  8. A quarter mile from the nearest stage AND you're a member of the club? That's a no brainer. I don't think the MD would even have jurisdiction over you.
  9. I looked on my phone and it says my email is blocked. Email addy is probably 10 years old and was a joint acct wiht my ex wife.
  10. There is a red circle with a white triangle near my profile name at the upper right of the page. What does that mean?
  11. Happened strong hand only today, so it's not that thumb.
  12. Out of town for a week; back now. Shot today; same issue; roughly 3 out of 150 stovepiped. Again...bullet is facing up. Not an ejected case...a live round. @zztMy factory ammo is longer; the plated 115s are shorter. Both a FMJ profile. Should I length or shorten the coated bullets? Any chance this is related to a recoil spring being too light or heavy? My support thumb drags a little bit on the slide; could my thumb retard the movemen of the slide enough to cause this?
  13. I've never seen a competitive male shooter do that.
  14. They are in fact TC. Shot 100 of factory just now to make sure I wasn't losing my mind and they ran grrreat.
  15. New gun. STI Eagle. Runs factory ammo great. Runs plated reloaded ammo great. Does not like my 124 coated bullets. 2 out of 100 will stovepipe with a live round; bullet pointed up. Does this when dry and dirty or clean and wet. Could this be an OAL issue? The coated bullets are a little warmer than the others; about 135pf. Coated are a little longer than the 115 plated, and about the same as the factory ammo it likes. Mags are Atlas magazines.
  16. Rare but absolutely allowed. Adds some complexity to your gun handling situation; be aware of your muzzle.
  17. CC3D I suspect that there are going to be a lot of people putting dots on their .40 limited guns. You're a trailblazer in the field. Hopefully it's just an issue with a particular dot and not a "dot on a .40 limited gun" thing.
  18. Work on shooting/moving in practice. If you can only shoot and move at 5 yds, then anything beyond 5 yds call for a hard setup. It's a little different for everyone; largely based on your skillset.
  19. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I am highly kerfluffled that there is so much drama and appearance of misconduct in the leadersihp of what is essentially an amateur shooting sport.
  20. I don't shoot many Ds but if they were in fact called "Dicks" I would absolutely shoot more of them just to hear them call out 2 D hits.
  21. You'd think so, but I shot about 15k of them with No Problems at all.
  22. Above gun, 5" barrel, with an optic. It has a bull barrel. Is this legal for CO?
  23. That match and the one a bit south fill up EPICALLY quick. Seconds after opening they are full. As the time registration opens up approaches I'm re-re-re-re-refreshing my browser.
  24. Someone already said it. Decisions have consequences. As this sport becomes more and more 23 rounds and a dot, Locap Divisions are going to fall by the wayside. I +1 the comments about stage design. Periodically for fun I'll visualize a stage as if I was shooting Sstk/Prod and in many/most cases you're faced with 12-14 round array. Nobody cares except maybe the one Locap guy who many times is too new to even notice.
  25. A federal officer came through a class of mine. He was shooting a Shadow 2 with a dot on it. Duty holster, belt, tq, flashlight, baton, etc etc etc. For a cop he was a pretty good shooter. The gun was NOT 100% reliable. I rhetorically asked him if that was his duty gun; ASSumed it was given that he had a complete belt dedicated to it. Nope. His duty gun as something else. Maybe a Glock or Sig. Another federal one came through with a SP-01 and that WAS his duty gun. S2 guy was a Bureau of Reclamation guy from the PNW and the other guy was with a an agency here in the DC area.....I want to say NCIS but don't quote me.
