  1. Sounds like Bill is a lawyer, and Ben is...well, he's Ben.
  2. As soon as a "special ops" or "tactical team" start using it then it will be all the rage.
  3. Random thoughts. Why not just decline to shoot the match in Colorado? Get your match free refunded and call it a day? Life is short, and using bandwidth engaging in legal action against a shooting organization is very low on my "to do" list. USPSA is not three guys sitting around a table at a gunshow. It's a multimillion dollar organization with highly paid staff. It's reasonable to expect the staff to be doing their job and doing it in a reasonably civilized manner.
  4. Ugh. I would strip all the aftermarket stuff off and replace it with OEM parts, like you're planning on doing. I'd then try a more mainstream round; maybe a nice 124 or a spicy 115. Striker spring replacement shouldn't impact your feeding problems. If it were a 20/1911 I'd wonder if the slide isn't going far enough back. Weak ammo/dry gun/too heavy recoil spring. For fun I'd take a look at the bottom of the extractor; light touch with a file maybe or a light polish.
  5. A legitimate video review was going to be my suggestion. Agreed to the above; a true double/triple will leave you with NO question as to what happened. You won't be second guessing it at all.
  6. I think the big difference is that forums are about "us." The sport, the group, the hive. This forum used to have a lot of that. As narcissism has taken over, people want to talk about what "I" did and what "I" think. Sometimes people create their own forums, sometimes it's the IG thing, sometimes it's the ultimate in narcissism, podcasts. The rules on this forum over the years have been both good and bad with regards to content/discussion/debate.
  7. Back in the day I carried a Beretta 96D for work; for tough shots I would stage, and usually taught struggling/smaller handed shooters to stage. With nicer double actions I would pull all the way through. I think it truly depends; probably one of those things where people would argue something when there's no appreciable difference.
  8. There's a couple of .40 limited guns on GB; chatted with them a little bit and they are not budging on price. I got a sense that they are flippers and/or not the original owners. Nice guys, but not aware of the "limited' situation in USPSA. Another guy...super nice guy...had a .40 Open gun. He couldn't understand why nobody was buying it for $3600.
  9. "Meters" sounds WAY more tactical though. I tell people I measure in furlongs or cubits.
  10. Another vote for buying a selectively picked used open gun. I got a solid CK 38SC for $1700; came with a couple mags and the seller kindly included some brass. There comes a point...somewhere about $3500-ish....where you begin buying purely cosmetic things rather than build quality.
  11. I gonna commit a sin here and suggest that maybe smaller stages/squads might be the way to go. It does mean that EVERYONE won't get into the match.
  12. Let take a really deep dive. TV, sponsorships, lawyers...small potatoes. Let's go real high tech. How about enough porta potties at a major match? Let's manage our finances properly. We can't even create a MAGAZINE without drama. Let's focus on being a small organization of shooters. Try to get THAT right.
  13. Dramatically different from my process.
  14. I'll be mounting a new RDS to a slide; I used the mounting system that uses the existing dovetail cut. I've done it 3 times before, and I get it done but it takes a lot of pounding and cosmetically looks like an angry dude beat on it with a hammer in his garage. Any suggestions to make this go smoother and look better?
  15. I would pay $20 to take a look at Sigs internal emails/memos on this. Or better yet actually sit in on whatever discussions they have.
  16. Trying to plan like the local heat might not be the best path. He's going to do things that are in HIS skillset, not yours. I'd adopt some doctrine. These are not perfect but are a good starting point. Assuming you are right handed. 1. Draw TO the easy target first. 2. Leave a position FROM an easy target. 3. Given an option, moving towards targets will typically be better than "shooting them from back here." 4. Generally shoot left to right. 5. Generally move left to right. 6. Avoid static reloads. 7. There's no such thing as a "Free" reload. Your clone will be one second faster than you for every reload you do. 8. When you're walking the stages focus on the "tough" parts, not the start position. These guys who stand in the box 100 times instead of prepping for the critical parts of the stage are doing it wrong. By the time you are making ready, you should have "shot" the stage in your mind so often that you're tired of it.
  17. My guess (worth exactly what you're paying for it) is that people will find USPSA if they want to shoot, regardless of what we do re: Limited Optics or Production15 or Wrist Rocket Divisions.
  18. I do not know how to do this....but my understanding is that your goal is going to take some work on the sear/hammer interface, which can be tricky. I'd recommend having a smith doing it. Some of the old timer smiths can't/won't do it. Maybe send to to Akai to do the trigger work?
  19. Lots of great comments here. My question has been/continues to be: Why are we trying to get MORE shooters? Matches fill up quickly, and some places within seconds. And if we are trying to get new shooters....who are they? As referenced before, the Tactical Timmies show up with their staccatos and tourniquets and rarely come back. LE? That ship sailed...or sunk...a long time ago. I say this because maybe the focus could be on what current members want. In all candor, I don't pay that much attention to what new shooters are shooting. I can't refute the statement that many of them show up with guns that would be perfect for Production 15, but, again...whatever is going to happen to them during their one match isn't based on what they're shooting, but rather how they're shooting.
  20. EGW makes the plates for the purpose; maybe ping them directly? I bet they'd know. Also look at the rear sight itself; it might/hopefully say "Bo Mar" on it. That would narrow it down.
  21. Regardless of the type of gun, I've always had two either identical or very close twins. Generally if you're falling back on a backup gun your match is toast. When I've had two identical guns, one is typically a practice gun (high round count) and a match gun super clean, low round count, etc. In 20+ years I think I've only switched mid-match once. I have had practice guns break...a no stress event when you can still shoot the match next week/tomorrow.
  22. By far the best stages I've ever shot were 12-17 round stages. IPSC does this really well. When I was MD-ing/designing stages I included a little bit of strong hand/weak hand shooting and it was interesting at who the complainers were. With a just a little effort you can make 15 round stages challenging. And....if you really put your mind to it....they're easier and more efficient to set up. The martyr thing of a guy pounding stakes for 1000 linear feet of faultlines is totally unnecessary. I think, sometimes, people bring sh!t on themselves.

    Scoring

I'm going to quibble a little bit; I am quite positive that the disparity IS intentional. I've dabbled in the IDPA pond on/off since 2005 or so, and that is a group that is desperately in need of a well written rulebook consistently applied. Never seen so many shooters who just shoot "for fun" in a hurry to hand out procedurals to each other.
