  1. I "get" Roberts Rules but holy cow that just seems to slow things down and result in basic sentences taking double or triple the length needed to spit it out. McDonalds Cashier: The cashier recognizes the customer Me: Point of order I want a burger fries and a drink Cashier: Is there a second on the motion? My vision is that people sometimes are polite on the outside but on the inside......hoo boy.
  2. Funny. The vaunted Bookface pages don't really seem to have logical discourse. Just people talking about revolution and forming another shooting league.
  3. I wouldn't describe them as TOTALLY awful to deal with, but I'd find another place to buy from.
  4. Ditto on the sear spring fix. Not a full "ooga booga" of tension maybe just a "ooga." Test fire after.
  5. New to PCC and struggling a little bit. 1. Bill drill at 10 yds is 1.6 3A/3C. About right or a little slow? 2. Gun is a very stock/unmodified MPA. 3. Gun seems very(!) bouncy in recoil. Poor technique or just a suboptimal gun? 4. I've got a lot of factory 124 fmj. Could this be the cause of #3?
  6. I did not use any chalk from 2000-2023 when all of a sudden I was having trouble with some grip consistency. NOW I wouldn't go to a match without it.
  7. I think that .40 minor would be about a wash. It's the .40 major I still have that concerns me a little bit.
  8. Thanks Charlie; knew you had set up a .40 for CO and was going to PM you.
  9. Completely forgot about the screws. .40 at 165pf isn't 10mm, but still Thank you
  10. Not 100% sure where to ask this; mods feel free to move There are a lot of orphaned Limited guns out there. I've got a lot of .40 ammo from back in the day. Any thoughts on how long a slide mounted dot would last on a .40 2011? Lots of my ammo is major, so that's a concern as well. Assuming a properly mounted slide mounted dot, would there be durability problems in a major pf gun?
  11. Sniperboy wins the internet today. Spot on. Fanny packs were never not cool, but agreed with everything else.
  12. I've noticed the 2011/1911 houses coming out with LO specific guns. The prices, in my opinion, are silly. Not a conspiracy theorist, but I've heard/read that the impetus for LO was the rejuvenation of the 2011 gunsmith community.
  13. Hopefully smarter people than I will come along to help. Maybe put this in the Gunsmithing section to get more eyes on it. 1. Does the ejector visually look bent or dinged up? 2. Clean? 3. Recoil spring worn? Open guns have light springs, and before you know it a 9lb spring ain't 9 pounds no more 4. Grab a sample of 20 spent casings; what scoring/dinging (if any) is present. Have someone capture video while shooting; I've got a $20 tripod I use, but try to get the camera super steady to see what might be happening.
  14. At some point, just for general knowledge, you'll want to know how to take the thing apart. It's part of being a competitive shooter. Old timers that I shot with early on said that if you're Open gun ran the entire match without malfunctioning you'd probably win the whole match. That is no longer true but the rumors persist. If you keep your gun clean, and use decent ammo, you will be fine. Periodically clean those mags, and periodically put new springs in them. Unless you're a "fiddler" just leave it alone. Shoot, clean, repeat. I'd quibble a bit with factory 38SC ammo being cheaper than reloading it. As someone said above, an Open gun is................a 2011. Just like your Staccato.
  15. First place I checked. I may, possibly, have had the night vision button pushed. Not likely but it's working now.....
  16. Got a used eotech from a buddy. Put it on my PCC about 1200 rounds ago and the thing appears to be dead. New batteries aren't helping. Any point in trying to replace any of component parts? Any troubleshooting recommendations? Not new to guns but totally lacking in "dot repair" skills.
  17. There are several episodes of Star Trek that involve the space-time continuum. To "be" an RO but not to BE one. Maybe YML in a parallel universe is allowed to run shooters. Unless the other YML did something in the other universe to alter the timeline.
  18. The squad size thing is a deciding factor for me sometimes. 10? Sure. 14? Ok. The closer it gets to 20 (or more) on a squad I decide to dryfire to live fire for practice instead.
  19. My production/SSP gun has always been HK. Made M in L10 with one back in the day. I like them but can't justify it; super expensive, not great for aftermarket parts (better now but...) and not a fantastic trigger. If I was still working for a living I'd carry one for duty in a heartbeat.
  20. As said earlier, if I was shooting ONE stage I'd get something super aggressive. But since we shoot 5-6-7-8+ stages a day I lean towards something that doesn't hurt after 5 hours.
  21. I dunno about the "cost" part of this. 9mm pellets are certainly cheaper than .40 but the cost of the actual guns now is significant. $4000 for a LO gun is not uncommon. Especially now there are good values in used Limited guns....sometimes thousands of $ of savings over a 9mm gun. That adds up to a lot of pellets.
  22. "The FBI giveth...." should be a bumper sticker. Or one of those tactical patches that tactical people wear on their faux body armor. Good stuff.
  23. An RO is not staring through a toilet paper tube. He can see more than one thing. Particularly easy if a shooter completely skips a position entirely, or shoots 18 rounds in a 20 round CoF
  24. There was also one at York recently and NVGC yesterday. I love the idea...just don't want people to fail the hearing test at a shooting match.
  25. Great idea. Shot a couple of those. Love them. Is there an obligation on the part of the RO to stand in a place so that the shooter can actually hear the second beep? There's no rule that requires this, but strikes me as a "best practices" thing maybe? We wear hearing protection, there's typically gunfire nearby, etc. Par time stages in the past have been classifiers with no movement.
