Order for the Cheely ejector placed last night. Shot gun today for 300 rounds with the broken ejector and........ran perfectly.

Got a reply from Mr. Foley.
Apparently there was National Championships last fall that kept everyone busy.
Also there's some sort of pandemic, so USPSA folks were working from home.
Jake has received my article, but hasn't had time to review it.
My wife flipped through Front Sight recently and she pointed out "Well he certainly has enough time to get HIS articles published."
-
Gun has been thoroughly/chemically cleaned, heavily lubricated, and I removed a good bit of material from the left side of the ejector. There was perhaps three sheets of paper of clearance between the ejector and the slide.
Range day was today. 260 rounds. Two ejection problems. When I went to disassemble the gun the slide froze ever so slightly when trying to remove it.
Got the gun apart and........most of the tip of the ejector is broken off.
Should I just have a new ejector installed, or send it back to the builder (with me paying shippingx2) and have him fix it?

Funny. Timely.
I messaged Jake in August about a product review I wanted to write; he replied in the affirmative.
I submitted the article in August and.....heard nothing. I emailed Jake, messaged him here.....nothing.
I called USPSA and was told "we're all working from home....I can't connect you to anybody."
A few days later I got an email from Jake, saying that his email account was malfunctioning and this malfunction caused his emails to be deleted.
I resubmitted and..............nothing. This was probably October or November.
Emailed Mr. Foley this weekend.
I don't know why Robin Taylor left, but I never had trouble getting articles printed when he was around.

Good morning Rich; yes it was. I didn't measure it but the barrel was not locked in place.
-
With barrel removed, slide:frame friction feels good. But, it did after I did the first light stoning of the side of the ejector.
Don-would the ejector bend to the SIDE from reloads, or just vertically?
-
Been busy with a file and stone on precisely that side of the ejector. There is, now, daylight.
The slide is stainless...the frame is steel but in the white......does anybody think galling is a possibility?
If it is the ejector, how/why were the first 500 rounds problem free?
-
I checked that ejector issue right after picking up the gun; plenty of clearance between top round and bottom of ejector.
I do also lean towards the ejector being the culprit; almost as if it's somehow being bent "outward" towards the left of the gun.
The causality eludes me though. How x Why Divided By=x. Solve for x. Show your work

The ejector issue made it absolutely impossible to get the slide on the frame. The "pointed" end of the ejector was literally poking the back of the slide.
-
Slide is stainless. When cleaned/oiled slide:frame movement felt very smooth.

New, recently built Open gun. Gun is still in the white. I am not the original owner. Original owner claims to have fired about 50 flawless rounds.
Ran flawlessly for 500 rounds. Shortly after, it was not ejecting reliably; casing would get stuck in ejection port. Not a classic stovepipe but with the casing paralell to the ground.
After another 100 rounds, the slide locked back, partly but not completely to the rear. By "locked" I mean seriously locked.
Gentle tapping with a rubber mallet freed the slide. Disassembly and cleaning revealed a gun that, well, had been shot about 500 rounds.
On reassembly the ejector would not allow the slide to move past it; the left corner of the ejector was blocking the slide movement. Light....fractional...micron removal...from the ejector cleared up the problem.
Shokbuff was removed; 10lb spring was removed and replaced with a 9 lb spring. Gun was oiled and reassembled with no drama.
Another 150 rounds were fired with no drama. At about round 150, slide again locked back, partially to the rear.
Smith is very well known and respected. I've contacted him as well, but am hoping that somewhere here has a quick fix that I am missing.

Matt can you share a picture of where your trigger finger is on the trigger in DA?
Pic(s) of grip too.

If $4200 is an actual no-kiddin' price it's a no brainer.
You could do the math a couple ways on that; buy a $4200 open gun, or buy a $3600 open gun with money for........well, probably not for ammo but for mags or training or something.

Anybody know firsthand if the MBX Caspian mags will work in older style/Gen 1 Caspian guns?
-
Some of the best stages I've ever shot have been 12-18 rounds.

A true word wizard. Awesome

"....new gun owners have shot the 100 or so rounds they bought......" True dat! Actually made me laugh out loud.

Had one built about a billion years ago. Bull barrel, aluminum frame. Was a bit of a handful with defensive ammo.

That does seem like a lot of problems with a lot of different guns but I don't think his experiences should be disregarded.

Happened to me back in the day. New springs solved the problem completely.

You learn a LOT about people by how they post on a forum. Very disappointing.

@Rowdy-Exactly my point. Most of these guys are not looking to shoot better......just easier. They're not looking to maximize the platform.

If $39 is the most you've EVER paid you are living a charmed life. In normal times I was paying $45-ish including shipping/hazmat. Now in Crazy Times.......well I don't want to admit what I've paid to stay active in this sport. Too ashamed.
