  1. This was the first thought I had when I read that you would have had to go find the MD. That stage should have been thrown out. I ultimately think your call was fine. It's not the call I would have made, but I see where you were coming from and it is very logical. "His position was that the condition of the port door didn't need to be spelled out in the WSB...it should have been obvious" You can't be expected to read his mind.
  2. Will, Guys like you make this forum great! I am sure Venry would be extremely proud. You sir are a class act! Letting that pistol go had to be difficult. Chris
  3. "A relaxed range will soon become a dangerous one" -Bart Reiter. I remember the day Bart addressed the crowd before the start of a match. His words struck a chord with me. At the time I was a fairly new shooter and hadn't thought of it this way. Over the years visiting many different clubs, I now understand what he meant.
  4. Welcome to the forum hijinx!
  5. Having extra ammo on hand is a good idea. I remember one guy on my squad ran out of ammo because he had to reshoot a stage.
  6. Very impressive. I hadn't considered using vinegar until now.
  7. I do think using the zip tie is great idea. Gary, if there is a squib in the barrel, how would you handle that situation? With a 1911 it would be easier to knock it out from the muzzle side towards the breech. Other guns will be easy enough to quickly field strip. I'm still unsure if it is considered "sweeping" if the course of fire is over, and then there is the distinct possibility that match staff are going to interpret the rules different from me.
  8. I got "broken" once very early on in my shooting. It was the best thing for me. I never forgot it and never did it again.
  9. I've always thought stages that begin with the shooter facing up range was a bad idea.
  10. Welcome Francesco. Happy to have your here.
  11. Very helpful videos. Thank you and welcome to the forum! Thank you as well Steve.
  12. I do remember that I was initially concerned about one shot causing a problem when I first started using it.
  13. I do think the load I posted is worth testing.
  14. No, this is not Bob Marvel’s load. I do not have his permission to post his load data. I wish I could help you, but I don’t have that data.
  15. I’ve used one shot for years. Never had a squib in tens of thousands of rounds.
  16. 115 grain 9 mm JHP Montana Gold .355 diameter 5.7 grains Alliant Power Pistol OAL 1.082” Crimp 0.378” For the crimp I use a Lee Factory Crimp Die. Back the knob out (CCW). Run the round into the die, keep it there and turn the die handle/knob until it just touches. Pull the round out of the die by pushing the handle forward. I score the knob with a single line on an edge with a knife to have a reference point. Turn the knob clockwise 360 degrees and it is set.
  17. Frank, have you found a gun built by your Uncle Venry? Will_M may have one. I sent him a PM with a link to this page. Good luck. I always liked Venry very much and was saddened to hear of his passing. He was always generous with his time and spent a great deal of his time helping me. Chris
  18. Thanks Chuck. I clicked "search", chose "members" and typed in his real name. Nothing... I had always wished he was active here. Just think of what we could have learned from him.
  19. I have a 9mm load that a friend of mine gave me. He tested around 50 loads before settling on this one. Let me know if you're interested, and I'll share the data with you.
  20. I use WST. It is very consistent at the chrono, and I do agree with pskys2, it is inverse temperature sensitive at the chrono.
