Take a look at this company. They're called Veteran's Manufacturing https://vetsmfg.com/.
I've never seen anything stop a .50 CAL. I'll also bet you'd have a hell of a time punching a knife through it.

TK Custom is a great company. Eli has been very good to me.

Who is making the best body armor these days?
I see a lot of different companies out there, but I have no idea how to choose the right one.
-
I don't distinguish between local or major matches. If the round doesn't pass the case gauge, it goes in the practice ammo bin.

I have a buddy that’s has to carry one of those epi pen, that would have been a bad day .
My son is allergic to bee and wasp stings. He carries two epi pens. One of them recently saved his life. He was stung at work and immediately self-administered epinephrine. He went to the Emergency Department and hung out there for several hours before being admitted for overnight observation. It scared the s#!t out of me.
This may be a bit of a thread drift, but the most common mistake people with allergies make is not taking their epinephrine soon enough.

This thread is dead to me now.

I really like that!

Crazy how fast it happened and how neither of us heard it.
I don't understand how your instructor didn't hear this squib.

I’m gracefully bowing out of this discussion.

Time for me to remove myself from this discussion.

Unless you have a whiny one who is strict about that rulebook nonsense.
Wait...what? Did I just read that right? You’re being serious?

Thanks for this post. I've been looking for an IDPA legal cylinder release, and now I've found it.

I know the rules state that the competitor is to allow the RO to inspect the chamber, but I really don’t see the need. If you drop the hammer and we get a BANG, you’re done. The RO is not responsible for your AD, which is why the command is “if clear”, not “I see clear”.
I do get annoyed when an RO didn’t get a great look at the chamber, then makes me unholster and do all of it again. Idk why I need to be babysat while unloading my gun, and if it didn’t go off when the hammer dropped, why do we need to repeat the process??
The RO is responsible for maintaining the safety of the range. Your annoyance, or mine for that matter, doesn't factor into that equation.
Some people need to be babysat because some peoples brain flies off after the timer goes off. BTW, you can still have a round in the chamber and still not go bang when the hammer is dropped. Multiple fail safes is a good idea on a gun range with 100+ competitors chasing targets for speed.

Thoughts?
Years ago I was at a local match hosted by a club run by guys I knew very well. After the match was over, I was standing by the safe area when a competitor removed his gun from his holster. He racked the slide and a round popped out. If he had just finished a stage, he certainly would have had to unload and show clear. So how could this have happened? I don't know the answer to this question, but clearly something happened that should not have.
As the RO it is their responsibility to make sure the range is really clear before everyone heads downrange to paste targets and set steel. If the RO isn't comfortable with what he/she just saw, stop the shooter and make them go through it again.

that makes sense, because the whole point of IDPA is the struggle against speed and proficiency, and more importantly, to do everything possible differently from USPSA.
I can't disagree with this statement, but I personally prefer to eliminate speed at the unload and show clear command. I see no reason to unload and holster a firearm quickly.

The pistol is in my right hand. I just extend my index and middle fingers outwards. Ring finger, pinky finger and thumb are holding the gun. This may not work for those with smaller hands.
-
I open my right hand to the side of the ejection port and use my left hand on the front cocking serrations to carefully pull the slide back. The round gently drops right in my hand.
-
Of the two choices you listed, I'd go with Slip 2000.

I just ran into this Extreme brass in a batch of brass I bought off of this forum. Is this stuff any good? I've never heard of it before.

Racing red
+1 on what Sarge said. I picked up a pair of Racing Reds when I was on the Rudy Team. It is a fantastic combo.

I believe if both parts are titanium, there should be no issue.

titanium hammer strut and MS cap, 17# will light off Wolf primers.
Full disclosure....my 17# spring may have been worn out.
My concern with a titanium hammer strut is it chewing up the MS cap.

I guess I had assumed that if it would stop a .50 CAL, it would stop a pistol round. I apparently have some learning to do which is why I started this thread. Thank you for that observation.
