  1. I stumbled across this on youtube and thought it was pretty clever:
  2. He's probably talking about this: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=929/Product/YAVAPAI_1911_AUTO_SLIDE_JIG
  3. Welcome to the club jgun! Awesome.
  4. No shock buffs in my gun. I used to use them, but not anymore.
  5. I'm not sure if this is common knowledge. On Sunday, I ordered federal primers and they arrived today. The lady that took my order said they just got in a shipment of 340,000 primers. I still didn't believe her....until they arrived.
  6. Edit: I had a chance to sleep on it, and I think I understand now. Thanks Gregg.
  7. Is it legal to checker the trigger guard on a revolver in the ESR division?
  8. Congrats Steve! Taking 1st Expert is a hell of an accomplishment!
  9. 6" Kurt. No particular reason. $125 bucks on eBay. I believe it is the D50 model.
  10. I love simichrome. Flitz makes a nice product too. I've also used Gun-Brite and had good results. Depending on how rough the piece you are polishing is to begin with, you'll want something a bit more abrasive to begin wtih. I found a stick of polishing compound made by Ryobi that is sold at Lowe's/Home Depot/Menards. They make a red compound which I believe is more abrasive. The white jeweler's rouge is finer.
  11. Yeah, if better means the problem is hidden, I guess that would be true. Personally, I like to fix the problem, not put a band aid on it that makes you think things are super duper. You lost me. What do you mean?
  12. clean and oil it, but do it soon-espeically if you're shooting a 1911 with the bluing all worn off it.
  13. Here you go: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=110681&pid=1293398&st=0entry1293398
  14. My biggest concern is a chrono guy that unloads with his hand over the ejection port. Other than that, I've never seen anything at the chrono stage that disturbed me.....other than the fact that they are shooting other people's reloads all day long.
  15. Nope So...it's not a DQ if the chrono officer has an AD and launches one over the berm?
  16. golf umbrella from wally word for around 15 dollar. I keep a large lawn and leaf garbage bag around. If it rains, my range bag goes in that. I also keep a zip lock baggy around, and that goes over my gun when it starts raining. I have a lightweight raincoat, but it's really hot to wear. I had the most amazing luck for about 4-5 years, but you're going to get rained on eventually.
  17. How do you know the gun is unsafe? How do you know the chrono guy didn't have his finger on the trigger? If he was unsafe enough to have the gun pointed in an unsafe direction (i.e., over the berm), how can you say his other gun handling skills are ok.
  18. Just out of curiosity, what happens if the chrono guy is injured if a competitor's ammo is double-charged? Is the competitor liable? How do you know the ammo wasn't switched by accident? If that were the case, would the chrono guy be liable for damage done to the gun? How do you prove it? How many lawyers will it take? All joking aside, I still can't believe there are people out there willing to work the chrono stage and shoot other people's reloads.
  19. $2,000 dollar fine. Wow! I'll bet she learned her lesson.
  20. I see a lot of clubs doing this. If you help set up for a match, you pay $5 dollars. Why not let the guys that do all the work shoot for free?
  21. It looks like Serpico joined today. Give him some time. We'll just seem arrogant to him with all this talk about how awesome we are....even though it is true. He's proud of his forum and is recommending a resource to try and help. Let's give the guy a break. I agree though, the 1911forum isn't my first choice. This is the place to be. The talent on this forum can not be equalled.
  22. I bunch of C and D class shooters in a squad can really bog down a match. It takes them longer to shoot a stage, and it takes even longer to score the stage they just shot. Edit: I'm getting out of this discussion while I still can.....I hope. Good luck everybody.
  23. Ken, Give Barry Walker a call: http://www.machinerypartsdepot.com/
