Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. doesn anyone make an affordable cable cam?
  2. I am just a beginner, but was curious if you are a rifleman? Many rifle shooters "turkey neck" as it were. Since i added my fastfire II to my pistol i have started to adopt a posture more like what i see the other open division shooters using. (elbows bent more, relaxed neck)
  3. Hey all, wanted to make a thread to discuss the match and thank Mark and everyone there that put on the match. I had to leave after the first round because my back went bad on me. I took a spill a few years back, and cracked my L4 Vertebrae, and one or two discs were also damaged. From time to time it becomes aggravated and my leg and arm go numb. I knew if i kept at the shotgun, Id be in trouble. Maybe some folks here with back issues can sympathize. Mark really put together some great courses of fire, and everyone I talked to were mighty friendly. Anyhow, just wanted to let those that saw me leave know it was due to my back, and not because of anything wrong, and I hope to see everyone soon at the tactical rifle, and precision rifle matches. How did it go after I left? I hope everyone had fun, with no mikes! *salute*
  4. Thanks for the kind replies. RJH, do you have a website that has a calender? Once ammo and reloading supplies are more available I will be making the rounds! I have really enjoyed meeting the fine folks in my state, and i hope to check out some of the big matches this year (even if i dont do so well it will be fun)
  5. I think it will take a few months after it becomes obvious to the panic folks that the media has been campaigning for a lost cause. I also hope thay new manufacturers spring up. alot of the folks buying gear.and ammo are new and will continue to need ammo and parts. I think as soon as federal puts out another run of the M855 and then crooks like CTD will not be able to sell 280$ worth of ammo for 1000$ because walmart/cabellas will have it at the regular price.
  6. I have used the Atlas now for about 18 months. I second most of what is said. I have used harris and GG&G bipods, but the Atlas reigns supreme with me. I wanted to add the only thing that changed on my bipods with use is the tighness of the pan/tilt mechanism. It uses a ball in joint (much like your legs and arms use). When you first get your bipod it is very tight, but will loosen quickly with use. I have seem some folks complain about this, but I actually like them once broken in a bit. +1 on the way this bipod takes a load. When loaded the bipod creates a less than 90 degree angle to the bore. I believe this greatly enhances stability with the 7.62. The ability to lock the legs in a forward angle is perfect for shooting on a simulated rooftop, or shooting down at targets. My favorite feature is the "footprint". The atlas is the definition of compact, yet still very strong.
  7. I thought I would chime in and give a +1 to sticking with your initial stage plan. In my second match on one of the more complex stages, I changed up my plan after seeing a better approach. As a result I failed to engage two targets. I notice now that I have a tendancy to change my plan if I am the last shooter in the squad. from now on i will try to shoot the CoF exactly as my walkthrough, and not make last min changes.
  8. Hello all, Just dropping in to say hello, and a bit about me. I shot my first match in December , and just shot my second saturday. I have been an avid shooter for over a decade, but USPSA is my first foray into competitive shooting sports. Everyone I have met has been very friendly and helpful. I will be shooting my FNX 9 in production, and I am considering converting to 9mm major in open division. I may go ahead and get my optic, barrel and comp together, but Im not certain if i will put it all together until I can get reloading compenents (which as we all know are pretty dry) unless I find a custom ammo shop that will load up some 9x19 to the proper power factor. I tend to be the type that competes for fun, and I enjoy a good challenge, but I have been discouraged from shooting minor in anything but production to remain competitive. I would like to shoot open because my right eye loses focus on the front post due to a past injury. Lots of great info here, glad to be a member. I have already learned alot using the search, which turned me onto to some loads in the Vv data book that look good for 9mm major. I also am looking forward to multigun, I already have a great rifle for multi gun and precision rifle
