  1. Walked the stages for the match a few minutes ago. This is my type of setup. A lot of run and gun with a touch of technical in it. Feeling pretty good about today. Ill post the match video when I get home tonight let y'all pick me apart. Note to self: stop forgetting shit at the house ass hole! Now ya have to stand in the blazing hot sun all day! Todays classifier http://www.uspsa.org/classifiers/99-46.pdf
  2. Shot a 3 gun today. It's very apparent I don't practice enough with a rifle! Good match though. Got a chance to fine tune the zero on my open gun for tomorow and got a nice little laser to do a check at the house before a match for piece of mind.
  3. Well its the weekend again. Got 2 matches this weekend to shoot. 3 gun Saturday at Pinetucky GC and a USPSA on Sunday at Statesville. Need to get off work early enough today to get some dryfire in and then put together more bullets for the rifle and pistol for the 3 gun. 9 major is all covered and ready to go for sunday. I suppose I will take the Open gun out tomorrow as well and make sure Im still zeroed for sunday.
  4. Yeah no kidding. Things definately went wrong. Shit happens though and since its been corrected I marked the adjustment screws and the locking screws. Ill be paying a lot of attention to them from now on. Ran some drills tonight. Draw, acquire, first shot on target just the basics then moved on to gun robots power point drill he made. I absolutely love using that on the tv. Wife always looks at me funny and laughs at me. The boy picks my mags up for me, what a trooper. Recently he started sitting in the gun room with me either watching tv or wanting to work the press. Really need to get on the ball with cleaning th AR this week. My buddy used it for last weeks 3 gun after I got dq'd.
  5. I tried it didn't like it felt sloppy and pushed the slide to hard forward causing too much movement
  6. Went to the range today to recon firm my zero and as my dq had proven 16" low at 10 yds wtf guess I have to keep a closer eye on that Cmore. Got the gun back to zeroed at at 30 yards again. Consistent groups off a rest. Mg 115 9.6gr hs6 @ 1.165 col and sr Still favored load over all else. Time to clean, mark my Cmore for future reference.
  7. Well went a nice little 3 Gun match today, First stage went ok not great, but the second stage now that was a horrible horrible stage. It was the first stage using a pistol. Some how someway my dot was about a foot off from last weekends match. Got me a big fat DQ for skipping a round off a prop hood. Fml only thing I could thing of was I jarred the Cmore some how. Back to the house to figure things out and get set for next weekends USPSA.
  8. Lol hope you faired better than me today got me a Dq on the 2nd stage
  9. Well Lets see if i start one of these things and can keep it going. First a little about my shooting in the past. I have shot 3 gun for a number of years, and since moving to Columbia, Sc last Sept I started shooting USPSA. There were no 3 gun matches in the area and i loved to compete and shoot. I have shot long range matches as well but again nothing in the area. So i decided to shoot USPSA, for a few reason. Get more experience with pistol shooting, since it was my ultimate weakness in 3 gun. And to keep compteting in the shooting sports. Well come to find out I love USPSA. So here I am in this cross roads where it has actually become apart of my life to the point of addiction. I started shooting in Limited with a G17 nothing special didnt know the rules to well but i know i didnt want to reload every 10 seconds. I started upgrading the gun and kept shooting and eventually it just wasnt the gun for me. I didnt like much about it the way I had it configured and i especially didnt like the fact of shooting minor PF in limited. I moved to an STI Edge and things fell into place. Love the gun and how it shoots now Although the begining I thought I had made a terrible mistake the gun was not running at all jam jam jam every match. It took me a bit to grasp the concept of tuning the gun and mags. Did some research tuned a few things got stuff running and night and day difference. As the matches continued I started getting better but was still a C class in Limited. I never practiced no dryfire, trip[s to the range were just shoot a target, nothing. I started getting more involved with the sport learning the ins and outs from more experienced shooters locally, and on here and started to piece together things and all of a sudden, I got it. It just clicked one match. I started to get better in Limited After about 4 months. Jan 13 was when it started to come together and after I started to get better at it I started practicing more. In March I bought a Trubor. I wanted to see about shooting open class and see if I could do it and be competitive and enjoy it before i decided to go full tilt and build a custom. After 3 matches of getting my butt kicked all over the place by my own lack of skill and gun malfunctions it clicked. I was able to shoot some classifiers and get decent ratings and shot the Sc sectional in may. May I made B class in open and limited. After that I practiced harder and started shooting alot better I still make those silly mistakes new shooters do occasionally. In the last couple weeks I have started placing top 3 against some great shooters, and plan to conitue shooting open and limited. As much as I love shooting limited, open seems to have its hooks in me and I dont forsee giving that up.
  10. Got that 3 gun match in Clinton Saturday So not gonna get to mcrc this month but I will make Sparta and Summerville after that its gonna be a toss up for awhile Good luck!
  11. Normal extractors need to be bent in order to get more or less extractor tension and with the 9 and the 38 super comp you need to add a lot of tension due to the rimless base The aftec uses springs to get that tension instead of bending the ejector needs tuned to throw the brass more sideways out the ejection port than up I got slightly sick of the filing and checking filing and checking so I just went with the 90 because it brings the dot closer to the slide and makes it easier for me get a quick dot and now I don't have to worry about the stove pipes
  12. I know I'm just a scrub and your draw isn't bad but... 1 stop looking at the ground. Your eyes should be on your first target or where your moving to for your first firing position 2 try moving your non firing hand toward your holster and get your grip earlier in your draw it may give you that 10th of a second faster and the name of this game is shave time where ever possible. I can't really see your reloads they are too fast for my eyes:p don't just grab the basepad try slinging your index finger down that sucker as someone said it'll halo align the mag in your gun a touch faster You'd probably beat me arse in a match keep up that good work it'll pay off
  13. You can take all the classes in the world and it may still not help someone if they don't put forth the effort to become better. It all comes down to how determined you are the gun this and that has little bearing over how the shooter can perform under stress. just because he has a brazos gun and you have an edge( I also have an edge) doesn't mean too much in the way of shooter ability the gun is merely a tool. Mags can give you a bit of an advantage 20 rds yeah its better than 18 in some light, but if you think about it that wont really hinder you unless you miss a bunch of steel on a stage. Determination is going to be your deciding factor and who ever is more determined to achieve a goal that person no matter what tools are at his disposal will be able to achieve it. I was just a c class shooter in limited, but I had a goal of getting b class and with a little work I was able to reach that goal fairly quick. When I moved to open div I didn't even want to see C class and made B on my first month of shooting open. Its all on you to make thisng happen. As for my edge I am running a 13lb recoil spring and 4.7gr titegroup with a 180gr bullet at 1.185 C.O.L., and it shoots great I have never gotten to a match and said man he shoots a 5k custom built blah blah im going to loose. Now get out and dry fire your arse off and practice techniques to beat his arse into the ground
  14. Judging by your criteria id go with a steel master. You could check out the trubor in 9mm also. a little bit of tweeking and you can shoot minor and major from it. I have a trubor shooting 9 major and the gun shoots great. Recoil isn't bad at all and the sound doesn't make the shooter want 3 pairs of ear pro(the next to you still might). You don't need an aftec extractor but they are a great tool to add to the gun. Trigger job would be my top priority. Im picky about my triggers but that's just me. Since you aren't going to reload I think the steel master would be a decent fit for your needs, but don't rule out others like the trubor, or match master(match master is a bit snappier in with major loads) Some people have are having some issues with the steel master for functioning so it might be worth your time to search around the forums and see what their problems are and how to maybe fix it. If your getting some stove pipes because of the cmore mount like lee said you are going to have to either tune the ejector or ya can always pick up a 90 degree mount for the optic.
  15. Well you know the problem already when your going to fast you loose the sight. Practice practice practice.
  16. So how'd ya shoot today Dave? Gun all working better?
  17. I'm running 9.6gr hs6 with 115 cmj and jhp Col 1.165 wsr primers I am getting avg 1509 here in sc from a Trubor I initially thought hs6 was not going to be a good powder I was running 8.8 initially and just kept increasing the charge 9.6 starightened the gun out and it shoots great
  18. check into AA#7, Vihtavouri N105, 3n37 maybe get ya started but look around theres a crap load of info in here
  19. I found a few lbs on different websits problem was the wait to get it. http://www.brunoshooters.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=BSS&Product_Code=HS61 ordered from here and 4 weeks later i got my powder hope this helps ya
  20. no cant make sparta this weekend got work ill be making a double whammy the following weekend though going to shoot either summerville or sparta then sunday drive to atlanta and shoot at south river see what yall did to me lol and then theres a 3 gun up near spartanburg the 2nd weekend so i wont be at mid car on the 8th
  21. i look at the top shooters score and see what my percentage is. I used to shoot around 30-40% of the overall match score against the overall winner. Now im shooting around 90-95% of the winner, now winning a few matches here and there.
  22. What's the scoop Dave, get that blaster working?
  23. I practice once a week with live fire with maybe about 100-150 rounds. Components are scarce for me so I generally work on just my double taps from draw on 2-3 targets at different spacing and distances. Everything else I dryfire practice at home.
